Re: Rumour: Source Who Leaked L.A. Noire Switch Port Drops Hint That Grand Theft Auto V Is Next

Sentinator

@MsgBoardGamer No problem. I sometimes have to speak my mind.

In regards to being successful for western companies (I am viewing Switch as a handheld) I can't see it because PSP (despite being successful) only sold half as much as DS and Vita flopped completely. The anime/otaku base buying Nintendo is nothing new. Bethesda and Rockstar is a different audience to the people who buy handhelds.

Re: Rumour: Source Who Leaked L.A. Noire Switch Port Drops Hint That Grand Theft Auto V Is Next

Sentinator

@MsgBoardGamer A GTA game? No. A 'true' GTA game? Yes that would be surprising.

Please learn the difference? GTA has been on Nintendo handhelds before and people were expecting a Chinatown Wars sequel for 3DS. GTA on Switch would not surprise me in the least.

They don't have anything against Nintendo platforms so this 'history' you speak of is in your head. The issue is them. They don't get the handheld market.

Re: Rumour: Source Who Leaked L.A. Noire Switch Port Drops Hint That Grand Theft Auto V Is Next

Sentinator

I'm entering with no hopes. This was rumoured back in the Project Cafe days and nothing ever happened. Rockstar have had multiple opportunities to put a full true 3D GTA on Nintendo and it hasn't ever happened.

The only way I can see it happening is if Nintendo have paid for it but they had the perfect timing to do it with Wii U and still refused to cough up. Granted at that time GTA V was in development so paying for a port now won't cost as much as it would have to include Wii U in development but R* can still charge what they want.

Red Dead Redemption is more likely given the sequel will likely draw interest for a remaster (and the much belched for PC release).

Re: Ultra Street Fighter II Had A Better UK Debut Than Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

Sentinator

@MsJubilee Apart from Dead Rising and Resident Evil Capcom's franchises seem to show no appeal to Xbox owners. I wouldn't be surprised if MHXX on Switch outsells the Xbox version of MHW.

They should wake up. Fans of Japanese games have moved away from Xbox. They are either on Sony or handhelds. Why they keep putting multiplats like Okami and Disney Collection on there I can't hazard a guess.

It isn't the 360 utopia anymore.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch and Third-Parties - Let's Be Realistic

Sentinator

This is how I currently see it. With Switch they have obviously learned their lesson from Wii U (that being stick to the audience that won't let you down). Handheld gamers have always preferred Nintendo for their system of choice even when analysts screeched smart phone doomsday. There is still a very large market to tap into.

Switch has messaged itself clear. Anybody expecting AAA games into 2020 (outside of Nintendo collaborations like Kingdom Battle) is setting themselves up for a huge fall. Sony tried the console quality tactic twice and failed on both counts. The handheld audience is different.

With the handheld audience carrying over to Switch, indies not having the outrageous budgets that the bigger publishers have and Japan mainly gearing towards handhelds in general the only way Switch can become as barren as Wii U was for third party releases is if piracy becomes as rampant as it was on PSP.

Re: Crime Classic L.A. Noire Is Sleuthing Its Way To Switch This Year

Sentinator

@electrolite77 I am not referring to the platform choices. I mean they have shot themselves in the foot by not doing GTA IV. Looking into re-releasing other 360 and PS3 games makes sense following GTA V's success but starting with this doesn't make sense.

I will admit I haven't played the games so perhaps I am mistaken but doesn't there tend to be higher demand for the bigger sellers?

GTA IV selling more than 5 times what this game shipped just seems like a wasted opportunity overall. And thats ignoring Red Dead Redemption being a marketing candidate.

Re: Crime Classic L.A. Noire Is Sleuthing Its Way To Switch This Year

Sentinator

@OorWullie I know it is. I'm saying I don't know what market research they were doing when selecting LA Noire to re-release. Check their 360 and PS3 games and you'll see LA Noire shipped 1 third of what RDR did and GTA IV sold 5 times what LA Noire shipped.

The decision still makes as much sense to me as it did when the rumour popped up in February. If you follow the trend of re-releasing your games last gen you start with the more popular ones.

Re: Crime Classic L.A. Noire Is Sleuthing Its Way To Switch This Year

Sentinator

LOL at Rockstar. "Oh you want RDR? Well you didn't buy LA Noire so they'll be NoiR DR for you. And that goes double for GTA IV! Now go back to Mario".

Re-releasing 360 and PS3 games is a great idea for easy money but to start with the one people wanted the least? Is this just to cop out of VR and Switch or did you have monkeys doing your market research.

You start with GTA IV you nutters!

Re: Creator Of Cancelled Metroid Fan Game AM2R Is Looking Forward To Samus Returns

Sentinator

@ieatdragonz It isn't your authority to forgive Nintendo here. That is THEIR IP. Not his. What you say is high on arrogance TBH because he is lucky Nintendo didn't sue his backside for

1. Interfering with their plans to sell a remake of their own and
2. misusing their properties for his own agenda.

I can't believe people are acting like Nintendo was wrong here. I am a creative writer myself and if I found somebody ripping me off I'd eat them for breakfast.

Before you go acting like you have the right to gloat over them ask yourself "would you like it if somebody ripped off your own stuff?"

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Resurrects Game Boy Classic "In A Completely New Way", Says MercurySteam

Sentinator

@aaronsullivan You raise some good points towards the end of your post and one in particular has crossed my mind a few times. The portable Switch.

I'd love to talk to you about that however I don't think this is the article to do so on. I wouldn't say 3DS graphics are embarrassing but 3DS was pretty much maxed out when Smash Bros dropped out.

For Wii U I can remember Tanabe said they discussed it for Federation Force as well but didn't have the resources to do it. Wii however..... well Corruption is the best Metroid by far (can't convince me otherwise).

Now if Nintendo are planning a Super Metroid remake for next year I will agree with you that 3DS has had it's fill of Metroid. It is the first handheld to boast it had both a 2D and 3D game and I do think that is enough.

However when its obvious their Switch plans are big anyway I have no gripes with 3DS continuing. Especially when several games have been outsourced.

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Resurrects Game Boy Classic "In A Completely New Way", Says MercurySteam

Sentinator

@aaronsullivan Putting the game on Switch makes virtually no sense to me. 3DS owners were upset because Nintendo gave them a Metroid game they weren't expecting so this is the best way to make amends for that.

Many dance around this but (while it may not be true of you) most of them are just saying Switch because they want it now and don't want to wait. They will make excuses in an attempt to cover it but that is what it is. Graphics and impatience.

The type of suggestion you are making is what hurt Sony's image with Vita.

You do not turn your back on a system just because a new one is out. 3DS still has a bigger market than Switch currently does. They still have a lot of money to make there.

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Resurrects Game Boy Classic "In A Completely New Way", Says MercurySteam

Sentinator

@aaronsullivan Abandoning your old systems just because a new one comes out is bad for your image as a hardware manufacturer. People were complaining that Nintendo "left" Wii U and now they are complaining that 3DS is still getting games. I know whats up with that.

Pokemon, Metroid, Mario etc is because all of you just want your dag nab graphics kick. Nothing more.

You know these are getting games on Switch so why does it matter if 3DS gets them as well?

Re: Official Nintendo UK Store Embraces Luigi Meme in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Listing

Sentinator

@TheOneInYellow I am in the UK. Its just there are multiple points (such as right now) where Nintendo's store put something up I've been unlucky to miss out because when you find out about it, its long gone.

It isn't your fault. Its mostly my own for not keeping my attention focused on them. But Nintendo don't seem to be carrying enough of anything around here (see several Wii U releases for proof).

It is good you got the bargain.

I'm just disappointed that every time I come back on the computer I already missed it

Re: Castlevania Dev MercurySteam Denies It Ever Pitched A New Metroid To Nintendo

Sentinator

@Dakt Even if it was a single source do you honestly think they could have dreamed up the campaign being played from multiple perspectives? It isn't exactly a main stream feature. For MercurySteam's latest game to have that the source must either have made a lucky guess about what concepts they were considering or they knew about it.

The problem with the logic that this Metroid was fabricated is a lot of the concept is in Raiders. True the campaign being played from different perspectives has been thrown around a lot but few actually go out of their way to do it. Many occasions have other characters take over mid story because it is very difficult to add in.

Plus they admitted they made Castlevania in the same way so it isn't something they haven't done before. Why not try it with Metroid as well?

Re: Castlevania Dev MercurySteam Denies It Ever Pitched A New Metroid To Nintendo

Sentinator

@Damo Not to mention the campaign of their new game being played from different perspectives. I'm going to say either Liam made some incredibly lucky guesses when dreaming this up or Alvarez is the only one BSing. My BS detector went off a few times during that interview. He claims only 1 person who worked there spoke out against him but that contradicts the many Spanish media outlets claiming there was far more then 1 angry employee. I also notice they didn't deny the original claim that Kojima visited only once during Lords of Shadow 2 (they danced around it).

@dronesplitter it was Next Level Games that pitched that one. It was turned down in favour of Luigi's Mansion 2.

Re: Castlevania Dev MercurySteam Denies It Ever Pitched A New Metroid To Nintendo

Sentinator

Interesting denial. The concept of Raiders of the Broken Planet lines up with a lot of what Liam originally reported (and this was long before the game was shown off). Add to that Castlevania was rebooted by them through this type of move and its cause for suspicion.

There are only another 2 instances I'm aware this happened and one was denied for years before eventually being forced to spill.

Re: Discontinued amiibo Figures Could Be Released In Card Form, Says Miyamoto

Sentinator

@rjejr
It is hardly just a holiday fad. Figures out in February have disappeared before they are even out. How many Pokemon amiibos can Nintendo put out? They could put one of every Pokemon not just the 6 playable in Smash Bros. Cards also have large markets. I still have Yugioh cards and (surprisingly) Pokemon cards still have a large market to this day. If Nintendo started releasing alternate sculpts for the Smash Characters (like Alph) I guarantee collectors would go as mad for them.

Re: Ubisoft's Latest UK Release Schedule Still Shows Watch Dogs Wii U As "TBC"

Sentinator

@BLPs I have noticed it. Cinematic games are focusing on graphics rather then the gameplay. I suppose its because companies divert their resources among consoles and can't focus on both cinematic cutscenes or stories and fun, deep, compelling gameplay and depth. I'm not sure about age group appeal though but adults do like Nintendo games as well.

@ULTRA-64 I think the user means here. We haven't been given an exact date for Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros or Amiibo price points.

Re: Full Extent of Nintendo of Europe Job Cuts Becomes Clear

Sentinator

@Artwark Can't say about the rest of Europe but in the UK Wii U isn't doing good. I only see it on shelves at electronics stores. Having said that Wii U isn't the only system I've seen being kicked from the shelves at Tesco, Asda and Morrison's.

3DS is still all over the place though. Most game stores I've been to it has more shelf space than Xbox One.
