Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Mega Man 4

Man when I was a kid I remember thinking Skull Man looked so cool. I also remember not knowing what the heck Pharaoh Man was supposed to be (I didn't know what a pharaoh was back then lol).

@GrailUK Indeed, and it always kinda bugs me how people knock Nintendo and their censoring Mortal Kombat back then. It was a different time back then and no ultra violent video game had ever existed before. Also Nintendo was still widely regarded as a "for kids" back then, so of course their gonna censor it. I think people give the big N way too hard a time about that.

Re: Edia Crowdfunding Cosmic Fantasy Collection For Nintendo Switch

@Gauchorino No I haven't, but I've heard nothing but great things about it. I also want to try Earthbound out of sheer curiosity, as people are always praising that game so much. I'll have to try both of those one of these days. I think Pokemon is the only RPG that predates FF7 that I was able to stick with to the end. It had a fun "hook" that kept you playing. Other than that though, I have a hard time with older JRPG, and really staying committed to them to the end.

I don't know anything about this series, but I tend to stay away from older JRPGs, as they're really hard for me to get into. I have a general rule: Any JRPG before FF7, I stay away from. I'm sure they were great at the time, but going back to those old fossils nowadays is really tough for me. FF7 really modernized the genre, making them more accessible for noobs like me. Anytime I try anything earlier, I end up giving up about an hour into it.

Re: Feature: Handheld Face-Off - Nintendo Switch OLED Model Vs Steam Deck

@moodycat Yeah maybe, but there's something about playing Nintendo games on a Nintendo machine that adds sentimental value for a lot of people. It's like, why do some people go to the trouble of buying record players and expensive vinyl records when they can just download the same song instantly? Sometimes how you experience something is just as important as the experience itself.

Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

Rainbowfire

These days I don't play anything longer than 10 hours. That's when the game stops being fun to me, when it just becomes recycled gameplay over and over again.

People think longer games are worth $60 but really... Is doing the same actions over and over, just because it keeps you longer, really valuable time spent?

Re: Soapbox: Be Happy, This Is The True Golden Age Of Gaming

Honestly, I liked the limitations we had to face as kids. You'd pour your whole soul into a single game, exploring and learning every nook and cranny, every magic spell, every weapon. Nowadays I can barely finish one game before I'm ready to move on to the next one. I'd be playing a game, and literally thinking in the back of my mind about what game I'm going to play next. And it's never-ending. Sometimes I just feeling like walking away from the whole hobby.
