This was an awesome article, Kerry! It's great to see a big publication shining light on how poor the working conditions for gaming industry employees are. Kickstarter employees recently had success creating the first union in the tech industry, and I'm hoping that momentum follows to the gaming industry with Activision since the workers there have started taking some collective action.
@rjejr Web apps provide ultimate portability, though, because as long as the layout is coded intelligently, it can work on any device with any screen size. This avoids needing a team just for an iOS app, a team just for an Android app, a team just for a Windows app, etc. Moreover, they can easily make updates that will be pushed to every single user immediately and it saves space on everyone's phone.
Chrome's "Add To Homescreen" button is great, as it essentially turns whatever website you're viewing in to an app and would be perfect with this SMM website.
I don't care either way, but it doesn't seem like a very good excuse to me. The prophecy could easily have called for a male or female hero. It's not like it's a real set-in-stone prophecy; they could make it whatever they wanted.
Not only does it surprise me that someone came up with the idea of hosting it on July 4th, but that the team agreed and actually set it for July 4th! I was glad for the initial postponement because I couldn't play on the initial date, but this is no better for me =/
@ZenTurtle Yeah, I can understand the frustration in being unable to uninstall it. What would you use as an alternate? The Amazon app store? I've never heard of Google remotely installing or uninstalling apps, though. I really don't think they can just do that willy nilly... Maybe if you're upgrading your OS, the OS you're upgrading to may have some new apps, but I really don't see it being possible for Google to just (un)install an app over the air like that. Even though I have my doubts, I'm hesitant to say it's not technologically possible because you can use ADB (a debugging mode) over a network and that will allow you to install and uninstall apps, among many other things.
@Retr_acro Yeah, I saw that too. I tried this app that supposedly hides that you have root access but it didn't work on my first try and I'm not interested enough in the Pokemon app to debug any further =P
@ZenTurtle what makes you say the Play Store is malware?
Anyways, I tried giving the app a shot but it wouldn't even open. I got an "E-000" error and it closed immediately. This was on an OPO running an OS based off of Android 5.0.2. Anyone else having problems with 5.0.2?
I couldn't really care less about the background. I play GH for the songs and the high scores. I still play GH3 for the Wii occasionally and it looks like crap compared to the PS4 games I play, but I don't care, it's still an awesome game. I am excited for the new controller, though. GH3 is easily my favorite (not only for the sweet set list) but also because it was the first GH game that I owned, so I started on medium, worked my way to hard, and then finally to expert. I played the crap out of that game. For all of the subsequent GH games, I would go straight to expert, play the hardest songs, and then I was kinda out of new things to do. This new GH will be a completely new experience and I'm excited to have to start back at medium!
I'm also upset they can't be used online. They're allowed in MK8 and I haven't seen any offensive Miis. Most people don't even use their Mii and I'd imagine it would be the same in SSB. I feel like a teenager whose parent still treats them like a child and refuses to believe that their baby has grown up!
"Bullying issues"? What could they possibly be talking about? Someone is going to take it personally that their Mii is getting beat up on? Come on, Nintendo...
Good for Sony; they deserve it. While I've certainly gotten LOADS of joy from my Wii U, I've still played more PS3 and now PS4. I am a lifelong Nintendo fan, but right now I'm just frustrated that they omit features to protect their younger fanbase. I don't want to talk to strangers in MK8, but at least let me talk to my friends during a race!!
That's me!! #7 in the NLife Masters! I know it's not even top 5 (although it would be 3rd in a real golf tourney); I'm just excited to be "featured" in an article here on NintendoLife =P
Also, I voted "Daisy Only" as well, thinking it wouldn't be a very popular choice. I was surprised!
I've always preferred the realistic courses and conditions, but you bring up a good point. It's a Mario game and the items should be embraced!! I'll definitely be playing more time tourneys from now on and will keep that in mind for the next tournament poll.
This article now has me sold; I am getting LEGO City: Undercover as soon as I can!
I was in kindergarten or 1st grade when I got LEGO Island and boooyyyyy did I love that game!! I just wish I could go back and play it again. LEGOLand was another big one that I enjoyed as a kid, but it became too hard and I never beat it. I wish I could play that one again, too!!
It looks like my plan is to look into how I can play those two games while I get enough money for LC:U =P
I'm from Chicago but I'm at a physics conference in Baltimore. Initially, I thought the conference was going to be in Boston. Only once I had to buy my plane tickets did I realize it was in Baltimore hahah but now I SO wish it was in Boston. I definitely would have taken a day off from my science conference and gone on over to the video game conference lol
So this adapter is for Monster Hunter 3 G for the 3DS in Japan, which is a different game than Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which is coming stateside?
However, MH3U for the 3DS also doesn't have built in online multiplayer? And so there's no confirmation that MH3U will even use this technique at all, right? It may very well just have no online multiplayer whatsoever?
I've never played any of these games and my friends wants me to pick it up so we can play. He's getting both the Wii U and 3DS version, so would we be able to play together at all if I get the 3DS version? Another friend is considering the 3DS version. Could all three of us play coop together?
I go to school in Chicago and the local GameStop, Best Buy, and Target didn't have any copies. The next closest Target didn't have any, either. But one Target that is prettty far yet manageable had a few copies. I only had one class today and was off by 10am. I didn't get back to my dorm until 1:30pm, but the important part is that I had the game in hand =D it took them quite a while to actually find the game too hahah
For everyone who is suffering from the delay, try Target!!
I'd like to add that I would have just downloaded it to avoid this long adventure, but I plan on lending the game to my little sister once I've completed it, and I just can't do that with a downloaded version!
Disney isn't only for girls... Disney Pixar makes some of the best movies out there. I love all three Toy Stories, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and Up. Then there's Lilo and Stich and the Pirates movies. I also can't forget about Recess and Phil of the Future.
What takes the cake (when it comes to their tv shows)? Even Stevens =D
Back to the point, I'm not a girl for loving Disney lol they cater to a wide range of audiences.
Regarding this game, I'm kind of intrigued. I actually don't know anything about it, but based off of this article, I'm guessing you can buy the toys and then have them in the game. That'll provably be the reason why I most likely won't get this. That's just not for me.
On the PS3, content is locked to an account, but purchases are still available system-wide for any users to enjoy. It makes sense and I hope that Nintendo doesn't screw things up further by not including this feature if/when they update NNIDs.
Those numbers seem so surprising! It's not that they aren't warranted; you guys definitely deserve the high traffic and recognition! It's just that the site feels so welcoming and homely. I don't ever feel overwhelmed by the comments section or forums. I'll use IGN as an example. I never post there. Ever. And that's because I feel I won't even be heard. My voice just gets lost in all of the other mindless posts.
It's different here, though. For one, I'm typing a comment right now! I just feel much more comfortable here, even though this is a super busy site. It's awesome. We'll done NintendoLife!
Let me preface this question by stating that I'm not very good at economics. At all =P
So how does this hurt Nintendo? Don't they make all of their money by selling the system to retailers?
Ohhh, wait. I think I understand now. They were stolen on their way to the retailers, so Nintendo is now responsible for replacing those systems and getting them out to the retailers who bought them but didn't receive any.

I don't care for these stock Mii Amiibos. What I'd REALLY want is a custom Amiibo of my Mii. That would be sweet!!
Re: Nintendo Hammers Out A New Update For Super Mario Maker
It's a relatively sizeable update; it'd be great if they told us what the actual changes were.

Well it looks like when I play local coop, I'll have the gamepad turned off and set aside while we both use Wiimotes... That's a real shame.
With that being said, I'm still extremely excited for the release. I'm just disappointed on the lack of proper gamepad usage.
