Re: Super Smash Bros. Needs A 'Change of Direction'

I prefer a balanced game over a giant one. Fun fact: from July 2011 to April 2012, Meta Knight was used 1669 times in tournaments, while Ganondorf was used only 37 times. That's the extreme, but it goes to show how unbalanced the game is. Unless you're some sort of prodigy, to have a chance in a real tournament, you can't just pick whatever fun character you want, you have to pick one of the 9 or so characters that are "viable". There may as well not be 35 characters if it only pays off to learn 9. While talent is still the ultimate decider, often times character selection can have a bigger impact on who wins. I don't think that's how a fighting game should be, especially if it wants to be fun for both tournament and casual environments.

Now that it's all over, I'll state my opinion
That was a very "meh" e3.
That 3ds presentation wasn't bad by any means, but they announced ZERO new games. New games is kind of why we have e3. So while it was still an entertaining time, and definitely better than the Wii U presentation, I wish we had gotten more.
In the end, I don't mind much, since new games get announced throughout the entire year, and I have Paper Mario to look forward to.

I would love to see a new IP they've been working on. But I'd be totally satisfied with paper mario, luigi's mansion, and any other 3DS games.
This was probably will be the only time I woke up at 6:00 in the summer without an alarm clock. My brain can sense the things to come.

@DanteSolablood that's very true, but why not give them more uses than just ev training or breeding? And those pokemon still aren't used very often. I found EV training more time consuming in Black/white, because of the lack of hotspots. And it's rather uncommon for a breeding chain to require a pokemon that I mentioned. If pokemon is about battling, why shouldn't more pokemon be able to battle?

@Koops3 I should think that creating new evolutions would be a lot faster than creating entire new pokemon, so it wouldn't take any longer than a new generation would. And as for making the other games obsolete, doesn't every new generation already do that?

In my opinion, "gotta catch em all" is dead. With 640-some pokemon, the goal should be to defeat all your opponents with a well-constructed team. Which personally, I find a lot more interesting than walking through grass and throwing pokeballs for weeks.
The large number of pokemon just makes for more possible team combinations. I think that if they want to add more pokemon, they should just add viable evolutions to the existing pokemon. Every time Gamefreak added more usable pokemon, they also added a bunch of crap that no one would use. For instance, in every game, there's the rodent, the bat, the small bird, and other generic, weak pokemon. If Gamefreak added evolutions, they would only increase the number of usable pokemon, not the number of crap pokemon no one wants.

So question: how firmly does it fit the system? I always have a thin shell on my 3DS to protect from scratches. Is there any chance my 3DS would fit with the shell on?

Honestly, I think it's hard for a FPS not to be "generic". In a FPS, there are always average weapons (shotgun, machine gun, sniper, pistol, rocket launcher, etc) , and it's almost always either based on a war, or themed after a futuristic battle between humans and aliens. How is a FPS supposed to stand out? By being polished?

I'm curious if you will be able to use the analog stick for normal DS games, and if those will be portrayed in 3d also. I'm guessing no, but I wouldn't mind too much anyway. Backwards compatibility in itself is good enough for me.

Re: Sony Senior Director Gives 3DS the Thumbs Up

It's not really "copying". Nintendo didn't invent 3d, or stereoscopic vision. They were just the first ones to create a portable game system utilizing it.
Regardless of what Sony does, I'm quite excited now. If both Sony and Microsoft approve (even if Sony only cares about how it will make them more money) then it must be pretty good.

How about a bomberman generations sequel where no one could talk? That would be nice.
Not to mention there wouldn't be any blood dripping from my ears to distract me from boss fights.

@alex what's wrong with people being happy when something happens that they like? It's not being selfish. It's being optimistic. Sure, some other people have to wait longer, but what do you want us to do? Wallow in misery with them? It's not impossible to be happy but still feel sorry for someone else. .If I won a competition, and I was happy, would you say I was being rude because other people lost the competition?
