Re: Deep Silver Parent Company Koch Media Trademarks Bloodstained, Will Most Likely Publish The Game

OMC79

@cdude Those 3 Million don't mean there is a market for the game, it means that funding has a market. From all of the people who investe... er, pre-purchased something that doesn't exist yet, who knows how many actually want another "Metroidvania"? How many of those gave money because it was trendy? How many fund it because they think is a labor of humanity because they think is like donations? How many did it for money laundering?
@hiptanaka I never said it was an investment. On the contrary, what I meant to say is that no one tell me that is like an investment, maybe I should have used quotation marks every time I used the word.

Re: Deep Silver Parent Company Koch Media Trademarks Bloodstained, Will Most Likely Publish The Game

OMC79

I bet he was backed from the start by Koch. I'm really starting to hate all that funding foolishness with all my gut and don't tell me is no different from investment. What will you get for your 3 million investment? The download and a keychain. What will Koch and IGA get for your 3 million investment? All profits and residual earnings for merchandise, licensing, series, etc. It sounds more like a scam than an investment.
I won't back this now or when it's out, if I want REAL Castlevania, there's the VC and so many games out there you can still get, besides, I've already spent thousands on them over the years, I don't need another that doesn't even follow the story, no matter who did it.

Re: Weirdness: The Game Boy XXL Makes The New Nintendo 3DS XL Look Puny

OMC79

@LemonSlice It's a little hard to tell, it's so light gray that depending on the lighting and cleanliness, it might look completely white. Not to mention that some might actually look yellowish now due to the ABS plastic.
It would have been more interesting if he'd used real Gameboy hardware, there are like a million emulated systems in all kind of crazy cases using that Raspberry Pi machine out there.

Re: 3DS Hack Removes the Need for Flashcards to Play ROMS and Supports GBA Games

OMC79

@AshFoxX There is no need for proof, if even a Dreamcast was capable of emulating several systems (I think there was some work on the GBA as well, albeit, very slow), a 3DS is capable of even more. The problem is that there is no market for Virtual Console. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people, including myself, want many of those games, the thing is that most of those who may want that kind of games may already have the original real items or could get such items and are probably people in their 30s. From those, the cheap ones will obviously go to ROM and emulator DLs. Most of the user base of Wii, WiiU and 3DS are kids, kids who don't know a thing about those games and if you give them those so they can play them, they'll probably won't like them because they are "blocky", not in 3D, don't have online multiplayer, are hard and challenging and so on and on. On the Wii, the VC was more a liability than an asset for Nintendo, on WiiU and 3DS they've gone slowly to avoid too much loss, so they only release sure hits instead of good obscure games like they did on the Wii. Be glad that we have what we have, it could be worse, much worse.

I simply understand less and less what is the goal of NL. Do they want to inform the community about Nintendo related stuff or they just want to fill up the homepage with pointless articles just to give the impression they have too much work? Their ethics also seem to be quite f**k'd up with stuff like this. They didn't put this article when it worked because of piracy but then again, what is the point of putting it now that no one can use anymore (unless you live in a cave, have no internet and yet you do have a 3DS)?
There is no need for the staff of NL to fill up the space with pointless or irrelevant articles, there are enough real news to cover and it's not like they have to fill a page quota or a 30-minute time slot.
@dronesplitter Together with piracy is homebrew, and I don't mean original homebrew which actually injected some life to the industry in the mid-2000's, the ones I'm referring to are homebrew games that use sprites from other games, music, voices or even characters and stories and the "developers" still have the nerve to start crowdfundings or ask for money for a full version or physical versions and don't get me started on those who make other kind of goods with little to no creativity like putting a logo or a sprite print on a shirt or a towel without the proper licensing. NL promotes those a lot.

Re: Yooka-Laylee’s Game Worlds Will Be Contained Within "Magical Books”

OMC79

I got the pun, but it is really not that "novel". Conker's Twelve Tales was going to within fairy tale books or something like that too. From the 3 funded "spiritual successors" (ack, I hate that phrase!) this is the only one I consider is necessary, why? Because we only had two true Banjo-Kazooie games and they let us waiting for 15 for the third one only to get something that was not B-K. As for the other two, with over 30 games on each of the franchises, one more is not really that necessary, especially if it doesn't keep the name.or characters. I never bought Inafune-Man or Igavania, I bought Mega Man and Castlevania and I bought a lot.
This one is one I'm really looking forward to see even if it doesn't "bear" the name.

Re: Teaser Site For Koji Igarashi's Castlevania Successor Lets You Have Your Say

OMC79

You know what's the worst about the three I mentioned early, that neither are creators, they only help the creation of what they ended ripping off, Kirby and Inafune did the art and IGA simply directed and produced and got involved since Rondo of Blood. Where's the genius? Sure, they gave great ideas to what they worked on, but that doesn't make them creators, no wonder they couldn't go beyond those works.

Re: Teaser Site For Koji Igarashi's Castlevania Successor Lets You Have Your Say

OMC79

If IGA is so great and legendary, why can he come up with something new and different? He rather goes the easy, mediocre way of delivering something old and that is been done over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over (I think I still need like 27 "overs"). Why not give the character a gun, or magic or punches? No, it has to be Castlevania with another name, because you want to keep being dumbfounded by the same guy with the same tools.
Inafune and IGA are the Jack Kirby of the videogame industry, they all became nothing but imitations of their past selves. I hope Kojima has more self respect, but we'll probably gonna see him begging for money for a new espionage game.

Re: Rumour: Koji Igarashi's Castlevania Successor Could Rise From The Grave This Week

OMC79

@ottospooky In that alternate reality, is obvious Shiggsy is not Japanese, is a European C64 and movie junkie.
In another alternate reality, Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto would have left Nintendo in 1995 and just like he did and does in the real world, he would be creating something completely new. In that same reality, Inafune would have left Capcom in 1995 to create the same games only adding just a little something borrowing stuff from animé he watched as a kid, just like always did, I mean, does in the real world.

Re: Rumour: Koji Igarashi's Castlevania Successor Could Rise From The Grave This Week

OMC79

Why can't they be like Yuji Naka or so many others. Naka didn't leave Sega to make another 2D platformer with a non-natural-colored fast animal. He created Ivy the Kiwi and Let's Tap and not only he created new characters, he created new ways of playing.
Why to make Mighty No.9? Anybody can create a Mega Man clone and could even surpass it (and they've gotten pretty close to do that). Another Castlevania? Don't you have more than enough of them? There are also good clones like Vampire for the GG and Gameloft's Soul of Darkness.
Just like when they were employees in their companies, they were only selling you a name, not a new experience. Maybe the games will turn out to be good, but their creators should be ashamed for being lame. I know creating stuff is by no means easy, but, aren't they supposed to be the geniuses?

Re: Weirdness: Care for Your Own Virtual King Dedede

OMC79

@KodyDawg You were the one who said slow news day and now you say it's its charm. Anyway, I like the site for its news and because it's about Nintendo. However, sometimes the articles are like this one. Not too bad but not that interesting, and they even give you the impression that they are advertising rather than informing.
By the way, I think the character is actually another sprite with Dedede stuff overimposed and badly done, that could explain why it has both eyes in the same side of his face.

Re: Weirdness: Care for Your Own Virtual King Dedede

OMC79

Is adorable and amazing that he put Dedede's eyes on the same side of his face like one of those flat fish. Or he could be facing you but has had a Looney Tunes-like accident and now has his beak on his cheek. Yeah, that's "adorable".

Re: Weirdness: Care for Your Own Virtual King Dedede

OMC79

@KodyDawg I wish it was a "slow news day" thing. This is so typical for this site: someone says Nintendo in an interview, is an article. Someone paints his NES controller blue and sells it for 1000 USD, is an ad, I mean, article. Someone makes a sprite/model rip game, video or app, is an article, and if that person then complains about how unfair is Nintendo for claiming copyright for that, is a premium article/discussion/editorial. The day someone at the staff rents Ghostbusters 2 (or watches the clip on YT) and gets to the scene where Rick Moranis says; "Do you wannna play Boggle or Super Mario Brothers?", he'll go nuts and make a whole article of it. NintendoLife should focus on real news even if its just 2 a day. Most of these weirdness articles are such a waste of time, bandwidth and whatever else is involved with them. The worst part of them is that most seem to be sponsored, I bet the guy behind this browser thing contacted NL directly to have his work covered instead of someone at the staff just stumble upon the site by chance.
The guy who made the browser game could have come out with something original, but not only he used an overdone concept from the 90s, he also had to "borrow" a Nintendo character.

Re: Video: The Nintendo 64 Kid Is Taking Unboxing To The Next Level For Taco Bell

OMC79

Remember Brandon Kuzma, AKA The Nintendo 64 kid? I certainly don't and probably over 2/3 of the Americans who watched that ad the first time. After the totalitarian McDonaldLand ad you would have expected something as great but I guess they burned out all of their brain cells after that. Some people should get fired, they have their demographics study way screwed.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Problems With Trends and Modern Media Continue to Damage Its Image

OMC79

@Boxmonkey They might have great games, but they certainly don't have as much best games. Sony's got great games, I'm planning to get a PS3 or 4.
@Yorumi Third party would kill Nintendo as it killed Sega. Nintendo consoles are not expensive, you buy Nintendo for the same reasons you buy the others, to have the games you like. If you wanted fun, friendly, innovative games, why did you buy the Visual Novel or the FPS console to start with.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Problems With Trends and Modern Media Continue to Damage Its Image

OMC79

I agree with PaperMario64. Nintendo has to be open minded but put their foot down. You Tube is no free advertising. Maybe Nintendo doesn't pay them but the ones who make those videos could be paid. You Tube has to be fair to both makers and owners, but I think it's up to them and not a third party like Nintendo in this case.
A fan game is still a stolen thing, no matter the good intentions. They didn't make it, they just take something that took someone a big part of their life, they left a part of their souls in it and then comes a guy who "gives the community what they want" and probably take them an afternoon with the use of apps, probably cracked.
You want a new F-Zero? Wait for it or make an original game based on the concept but not in everything in the game, we had FAST on the Wii and Wipeout on Sony.
You want a new IP? Wait for it to come or make your own, the guys at WayForward didn't wait for Nintendo to create Shantae.
@Ralizah If its your hard work, you have to fight for it even if you look like a Na*i. But if you don't care, why don't you give us your bank account and PIN number?

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Problems With Trends and Modern Media Continue to Damage Its Image

OMC79

They want Nintendo to be third party to play the best games in the consoles they own, which clearly don't have the best games. The world is upside down, the best games are in the worst selling consoles but the best selling consoles don't have the best games. So you by console because they are trendy and look cool and not to have fun with them. It used to be the other way around.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Problems With Trends and Modern Media Continue to Damage Its Image

OMC79

I think its some sort of payback. People say Nintendo is bad for being family oriented and friendly, so why they even bother to talk about Nintendo if they are gonna say is the worst but it has the best games.
Anyway, others are also doing things like this, the only difference is that Nintendo enforces it for real. Of course they should light their policies, but you are forgetting that Nintendo are the only ones really entitled to profit from their stuff, they do exaggerate with the video and social media stuff, but things like the Laundry Boy basket do need to get somebody's attention.
I know some of the videos are really necessary, but face it, a lot of people is making lots money by doing nothing out of many people hard work.
@Kirk No offense, but if you are so anti corporation, shouldn't you be playing Steam and be in the deep web instead of playing stuff made by big "evil" corporations and post it in a site that technically pays tribute to those devil incarnates?

Re: Pirate Bay Co-Founder Unable To Experience The Joys Of NES Behind Bars

OMC79

@DThrow_UAir So everyone that used it should be the ones in jail instead? Did you use it?
Are you aware that while everyone who used it could have or not profit from it, he always profited from it? He promoted piracy and made money out of it, even MEGA is different, at least in essence. MU offered a cloud, anything could be there and people did lose important documents when the FBI closed it, PB offered piracy and only piracy.

Re: Nintendo Submits Trademark for NES Controller

OMC79

Are you aware that Nintendo does not need to make easy buck like for a hundred years? It's more a matter of what's fair, one thing is fair use when there's no profit and another when they use it to do so and even try to copyright something that's was someone else creation.
