Re: Soapbox: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Won't Be The Franchise's 'BOTW Moment', And That's Okay

Norwegianguy

I think it was a big mistake naming this Prime 4. New fans who aren't interested in investing time playing a whole trilogy to understand the story, wont buy this probably. Also, they are purposely making this game look AS identical as the prime games, because they are continuing the story from prime 3. The game's title should of just been Metroid Beyond, and made a whole new story with new characters and such. I wouldn't be surprised if the space pirates, ridley and such are also part of the game. Looks like they were only aiming towards the existing fans of the franchise tbh..

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The February 2023 Nintendo Direct

Norwegianguy

Finding it odd that people dont think a MP4 trailer is gonna be shown. Im feel pretty confident about it actually. In terms of what Nintendo SHOULD be showing, I"ll say this about first party titles:
A proper Zelda trailer, story and gameplay. Pikmin 4 full trailer, Mario, either 2D or 3D. Its been long enough since Odyssey. A new DK game should be shown. A fully fleshed MP4 trailer. Not every IP need its own direct. Its time to show us something of Metroid.

Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope - Creativity Trumps Challenge In This Delightful, Divergent Sequel

Norwegianguy

Loved the first game back when I had a Switch. Believe it or not, but the first game got me into turn based RPG games. I cant remember if the first game had any difficulty options or not, but that game was pretty hard at times. That final was also one of the best boss fights i've played in a while, in terms of difficulty, soundtrack and just the visuals was so cool. Reading the review here saying the game is easier than the first game is a huge negative. It sounds like its Yoshi/Kirby in terms of difficulty, like a cakewalk throughout the game. I was seriously thinking about buying a new Oled Switch just for Bayonetta 3 and Sparks of Hope, but reading this review, along with the controversy that surrounds Bayonetta and Platinum games at the moment, im just gonna pass on it this time.

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

Norwegianguy

Man, I was going to write something on Reddit about Nintendo, but will say something here. This company has changed big time after Iwata died. I dont know if thats the case but it feels like it. I haven't owned a Switch since 2019 after suffering with drift on three pairs of joy cons and cracks that mysteriously showed up on the backplate of the console. Not only that, but the eshop is awful, along with the online service. I love Bayonetta, but Kamiya sounds like a self centered a-****. Dont really care for Furukawa aswell, as he only care about money and not the fans. Iwata would take a price cut in his salary during the dark days of the Wii U. He would make several appearances in the direct. The famous one with the banana and Luigis mansion with Miyamoto is my favorites.

Re: Review: Airoheart - Adequate Adventuring For Link To The Past Obsessives

Norwegianguy

I have never played A Link to the Past before, so really dont bother me that the game is nearly identical to Zelda. If they can iron out the technical issues with a patch, then im on board. I loved the first Blossom Tales game and would play the sequel if it were on macOS, and not only Windows. I guess and hope the price of 40 dollars is the console price, and that the Steam version would be akin to the Blossom Tales 2 price point? Really like the artstyle of this so im really tempted.

Re: Poll: Do You Think We'll Get A Nintendo Direct Next Week?

Norwegianguy

Can't even remember when the last direct was? People saying that theres enough content for the rest of the year is smoking something. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Splatoon 3 is enough first party titles for the next six months? Im definitely expecting a Bayonetta 3 release date this year, along with the Mario + Rabbids sequel also releasing this fall. I sold my Switch back in 2019 due to a lack of interest in Nintendo games that I want to play. Give me Mario + Rabbids, Metroid Prime, Zelda and Bayonetta 3 and im back in with Switch Oled! The wait for these games has been devastating, specially for Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime.

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Main Menu In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Norwegianguy

I honestly dont get the hype for this? Can someone explain it to me? I had a small hope that Nintendo would remaster Super Mario 64 in glorious HD and make the other 3D games in HD. But, this collection is just ports and they charge what? 50 dollars for this? I can play these games for free on my computer..

There is absolutely no value to this, other than that you can play it in handheld mode. Of course, Nintendo fanboys will buy it regardless..

Re: Video: That Super Mario Direct Was Lovely, If A Tad Predictable

Norwegianguy

Am I missing something here? The big rumor were that Mario 64 was gonna be remastered in glorious HD, while the other 3D Mario games were included.

How exactly is this reveal exciting? Its just the same games for an insanely high price. I can play these games for free on my computer for god sake.

Try again Nintendo..

Re: Random: Nintendo Posts New Image Of Mario In The Sunshine, Internet Goes Wild Again

Norwegianguy

If these ports of 3D Mario games is all Nintendo has planned for the rest of the year, then that is quite dissappoiting. I would go as far as to say its one of the worst year Nintendo has had in recent times.

I know New Horizons sold incredible well and maybe Paper Mario sold decent, but in terms of having variety in games to cater to most of the Nintendo fans, is non existing. Two big first party games, a bunch indies, Xenoblade which, lets be honest, is a niche game, and ports of all the 3D Mario games for the holiday season? It's insane if Nintendo thinks this is acceptable.

A new DK game and Metroid wouldn't be too much to ask for? Pikmin 3? They had time and resourches to realease Pikmin 3 deluxe, but not a new game? Whats that about? A sequel to Mario x Rabbids has got to be in works. Why not show that game? Create some hype. Same goes for BOTW 2. We know they have been working on that game since early 2017. Couldn't they come up with a trailer at least? Showing us the final name of the game.

Im just flabbergasted at Nintendo right now..

Re: Talking Point: Have You Missed E3 This Year?

Norwegianguy

@COVIDberry

They are holding back information. Nintendos strategy the last couple of years has been to not show games that are one or two years away. Metroid were an exception. They have games to show, but dont want to for some reason.

Re: Talking Point: Have You Missed E3 This Year?

Norwegianguy

@RhiannonRune

This I dont understand. How can you be fine with no new realeases this year? Having a new trailer for BOTW 2, saying it would come in 2021 wouldn't excite you? Or simply a Metroid Prime trailer slowing us the game for the first time?

I hate Nintendos approach to game realeases. They do not have to always show their games when their 6 or 3 months from realeasing. Hype for upcoming games coming a year or two later can sell consoles aswell. We've seen this with both Xbox and PS4 this gen.

Re: Talking Point: Have You Missed E3 This Year?

Norwegianguy

I actually miss Nintendo communicating with their fans. We had two mini directs and so far this year we only had two first party games? E3 is not missed, but communication is.

This is shaping up to be Nintendos worst and slowest year. I would blame Covid19, but im starting to think Nintendo didn't really had that many games to begin with. The rumored ports of the 3D Mario games is probably real and will be their holiday games, but thats hardly exciting to me tbh..

Four more games and some announcements would easily saved this year for me. This could be a new DK game, Pikmin 3, a new 2D Metroid and a sequel or announcement of Mario X rabbids sequel, plus a realease trailer for both Bayonetta 3 and BOTW 2. This wouldn't be out of place to expect from Nintendo, pandemic or not.

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

Norwegianguy

Gotta say, 2020 is sharing up to be the worst year in Nintendos history. That is not just because of the lack of games, but the directs has been awful and Nintendos radio silence towards their fans has been very dissappoiting to say the least.

Pandemic or not, you need to communicate with your audience. We all know the reasons behind the lack of games this year and that some will be delayed, we're not stupid. But, at least tell us about development of the first party titles and some surprises. Nintendo did say in their investor meeting that Covid has not affected development of first party games. If thats the case, then whats up with their dead silence on games?

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase Meet Your Expectations?

Norwegianguy

@Tyranexx

Let me remind you that Nintendo doesn't make a living on these niche japanese titles and DLC. Yeah, sure some people are excited by these games, but the majority of Nintendos profit comes from the likes of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Smash etc..

Covid or not, Nintendo is a company that lives off their customers and their money. Games, games and games of first party titles every year is essential.

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase Meet Your Expectations?

Norwegianguy

Hate to be "that" guy and its not like im losing any sleep over anything Nintendo related, but damn was that a terrible direct. Didn't expect anything major, nor should anyone have expected that, but just the announcement of another Direct Mini is dissappoiting.

Sony, who is also a japanese company had recently a big E3 like event which showcased a new console and a bunch of new games. Isn't Sony also affected by Covid? Why is Nintendo hiding their first party games? It's beyond pathetic that they give us a direct mini every few months and also makes a statement in everyone of them saying that more information will come in another direct soon. What the hell is the point of that?

Just give us a general direct showcasing games that are ready to be shown and create some hype, instead of feeding us tiny bit of info every mini direct and make us play the guessing game of what their plans is for the near future.

Re: Video: 12 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In June

Norwegianguy

Nothing for me sadly. Just bought the Darksiders games in the big eShop sale. I was told darksiders were a mix of Bayonetta and Zelda, only played for two hours and can't really say its anywhere near Zelda. I can see the similarity with Bayonetta, but it's not as fast paced, which is a bummer. I also dont care that much about the main protaganist, reminds me of Geralt from the Witcher.

Re: Review: Kunai - Pacing Problems Undermine This Otherwise Likeable Roguelike

Norwegianguy

Seen dozens of reviews giving this a 9/10. Im halfway through this game and dont agree with this score at all. The art style could use some colours, but other than that it's a solid 9/10 from me. The game feels great to play, controls are tight and responsive. Great variety in enemy designs. People here saying its too easy plays too much games in general tbh. I find the game hard enough and have died several times. Dont listen to this review, if the game interest you and you're a Metroid fan then buy this.
