@ThanosReXXX Is that comparable to the demand of games. Do people actively wait for a release date of a printer or gaming PC then rush in that day? We know in two days people will be expecting a large stock of Super Mario Odyssey in store, are people expecting the same from HP? In my opinion the detriment is higher for Nintendo, if they fail to get their games on the shelves when planned.
@ledreppe A simple solution would be for retailers for to not sell the game until the release date. Nintendo needs to ship these out to account for any problems that might occur along the way. A three-day lead could turn into a just "getting there launch day" situation fast.
@brandonbwii "I think a lot of people say that Animal Crossing works better as a handheld game"
How so? In terms of gameplay, the dual screens of the DS are just enlarged with the Wii U. Of course it's nowhere close to as portable, but in some cases HD gameplay would trump that.
"I never expected an Animal Crossing on Wii U nor wanted one."
Why would you not expect it? It was released on the GameCube, then Wii, so why wouldn't you expect the Wii U to also get it?
"AC is not worth a yearly or biyearly release. With so much time passed and Switch being a hybrid, AC is a no brainer at this point."
The last console version was released in 2008 so that's around 8 years of time when it could have been developed. I would say that's a generous time frame to release a game of its popularity. I do agree AC will work perfectly on the Switch, I just don't think it will happen as soon as people believe it will.
@iNintendo I mean I'm sure people thought there was "no way" a full AC wouldn't come to the Wii U. One can even say it fits better there, considering the second screen. I do think it will come to the Switch eventually, but when..............
It looks much better than what I expected which was a city builder. It will be interesting to see if it ties in with an AC game on the Switch, maybe connect your Ninten ID and you can visit the campsite on the Switch. That would be a cool little feature.
@Yorumi If we're talking cross play I don't think people would take less features lightly. However, a game on the appstore really can't reach the price of let's say 60$, so that might server to justify the lack of features. I don't know consumers might view a full game on a mobile device as Nintendo "selling out".
@JJ286 I apologize my extra comments were uncalled for.
"Well despite being portable you can't or don't always want to bring a switch everywhere. Lunch break at work? Don't exactly want to bring the switch for that but being able to load up the game on a phone for a few minutes would be cool."
Why would Nintendo purposefully undercut the purpose of the console? The main selling point is portability, so stating "Our console is too inconvenient to take out all the time, here's a mobile app so you don't have to worry about that" sounds slightly counterproductive.
@Lalivero Yeah I see the vision for sure. I haven't really spent any time playing games such as that, so I can't relate on a personal level but hey not everybody plays games the same way. Hopefully you're able to get the lengths you can better make use of!
@Lalivero Honestly I haven't found the 30 second limit too restrcting yet. I've recored two videos of Splatoon 2, one where my teammate dived onto the base in rainmaker. And one where my team basically walked the rainmaker to the base within 10 seconds. It got the job done both times and it showed everything I needed it to.
I guess I can see your point if you're maybe wanting to record a large chunk of a hard level for reference. Or a particularly competivite Splatoon match.
@Captain_Toad "but their image can't last forever with the changing times. "
I disagree with that. As long as the world has kids, the world will have Nintendo. The image Nintendo has kept up if anything has only increased their overall marketability as company.
@Kalmaro You might be overly paranoid in this case. It's not like this is Super Mario Wolfenstein, it's a third party game Nintendo is using to appeal to a wider scope of people. Nintendo's brand is hopelessly wholesome. They can't just switch it up without suffering extreme losses, and why would they? The people they have employed put a major emphasis on creativity, and the overall joy of playing video games. Which is a complete diversion from the industry as a whole today. Nintendo knows they have their notch in the industry, and giving that up would be plain idiotic.
Honestly, in this day and age, you can play games equal or better on the internet for free. I personally wouldn't pay more than a dollar or two for this.
@Snaplocket I don't see the correlation. You're not going to like a movie better once you find out whether a Man or Woman directed it either (at least I hope not). So I didn't really expect your opinion change.
@thesilverbrick It's unneccesary to me plain and simple. I guess one might say it's "in the hopes of creating an iconic character aka samus". But that's not what I look for in terms of characters, and to be honest I rarely pay attention to the costumes of any character. I also realize the culture overseas is very different from the culture here in the States. And it might be worth noting this particular design was done by a Female not a male.
@thesilverbrick You're really beating around the bush at this point. It's a yes or no question, are you or are you not "fine" with the clothes Bayonetta wears in her game? All I need is a Yes or No.
@thesilverbrick Yeah, but you're pratcially saying "if she does not act the part it's unneccesary", however, "if she DOES act the part it's no longer unneccesary and you're fine with it".
@Snaplocket Ahh ok well think of my response in the tone of a lawyer asking a defendant a question.
@Snaplocket What appeared to be derogatory to you?
@thesilverbrick I sort of understand your point, but I'm not sure I am with you on the whole their "personality" determines if they are being objectified or not. Anyways thanks for the response.
@scully1888 I for one heavily agree with the way you've handled this review as of now. I do disagree with you not scoring it right away though, since they were of course, happy to take people's money for it. I don't see why you shouldn't let people know what to expect from it, including an overall score. HOWEVER, I'm very happy you updated the review once the updates were sent out. What's the point of a review of the game, if it is not relevant to what they would be purchasing at the current time is what I say. So by updating it, you did a service to those who were not aware of the increase in quality of the game +1.
@sillygostly In my opinion all reviews should be done like this in this day and age. With the ability to update a game and change it to fulfill the needs of its players, a changing game should have a changing review. A reviews purpose is to give knowledge of your experience of the game, to help readers form an opinion of the game. There's no point in leaving it at "this game is 2/10" when the game when you reviewed it is totally different from current circumstances.
@Snebbu It actually depends to be honest. If you have 10 hit and run accidents and the same model of car happened to be used each time. Eventually that car would start to be known as the "hit and run car" would it not?
@BensonUii Everything should go through Nintendo. You shouldn't have to create an account for some third party company just to play online in most cases. You should be able to invite your friends to play any game purely through your Nintendo account if you want to.
HOWEVER, EA dropped the ball on this as well. As they could have implemented their own online system alternative, but chose not to.
@Kalmaro It's not one of those videos. It's just a comparison of the gameplay between the two, alternating between the PS4 and Switch. They might have mentioned it in the official review though.
@roadrunner343 I feel like it's possible they are getting some needed features done right, since they pushed it back even further. I mean they've had since whenever they came up with the Switch to get online done. So you might say a push back is evidence they are switching up their original plans.
Apparently there are bigger concerns besides the way the game works. It's clear the online structure is drastically lacking, and it's been exposed once again by FIFA. Nintendo needs to get with the times when it comes to online, before they should even THINK about charging for it.
On other note people seem very pleased with the gameplay so that's good. EA seems to have done fairly well for their first attempt.
The game sort of dropped off to me due to connection issues. I know on my end the Internet is working fine, but when you can't land hits while your opponent can it sucks.

@King47 Well FE also had more assets TO be monetized. What exactly was there to cheaply monetize in terms of Mario Run.
Re: Feature: Five Things We Expect from the Animal Crossing Mobile Direct
To me it seems the obvious path would be a city builder type game. If you don't know what I am talking about just look up simcity buildit.

Shovelware has always been on consoles, it's just slightly less noticeable.

How does that allow you to get away from the shovelware crap.
