Certainly one of the crazier concepts for a game we have seen in recent times, King Oddball is set to land on the Switch's eShop with a bang - and there's not long to wait until it does.
You take control of a boulder (the King of boulders it would seem) with the aim of using your ridiculously long tongue to lick up other, smaller boulders, before launching them at tanks and helicopters. Despite sounding like something we've made up for the world's earliest (or latest) April Fools article, the game is very much real and actually looks like a whole lot of fun. You can check out this rather comical trailer for an earlier release of the game below.
In order to succeed you will have to master the timing of each swing, releasing your boulder buddies at just the right time to smash everything in sight. The game has over 120 increasingly-difficult levels for you to conquer, as well as hidden secrets for you to try and find. Boasting "single button gameplay", this looks like it could be another fun addition to the Switch's software library.
King Oddball is set to release on October 30th for $4.99 USD / £3.99 and we'll be sure to give it a spin when it arrives. Is this a game that you might add to your wishlist? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

It's basically a bad version of Angry Birds, no thanks.
Played this years ago elsewhere... I quite enjoyed it!
@Ooyah Same here! It was silly but really fun!
It does actually look like it could be fun and the price isn't bad at all.
This better be around $2 Canadian. This is just a cellphone app. Not a bad game, anything more than $2 is a ripoff.
I'm kinda getting tired of phone games on the switch.....especially at a higher price. SMDH 💩
This kind of games work best on the smart phones. Good game tho but you will definitely find these sort of games cheaper on phones
The reason I love dedicated video game handheld and consoles is to get away from the shovelware crap.
I LOVE the Switch but this needs to be controlled. Organize the Eshop and put these games in a Cellphone game category or something.

Shovelware has always been on consoles, it's just slightly less noticeable.

How does that allow you to get away from the shovelware crap.
Played it on Vita and really enjoyed it!
Yeah, I remember having fun with this game!
@adarker
It was a while ago, on the Vita, so I will get it again on the Switch. You're right... very silly! I actually felt it to be something of a hidden gem. I wonder if this version has extra levels? Doesn't look like it?
Played it on Android and XB1 and if I ever get a Switch, I'll play it there. I enjoyed it so much better than Angry Birds. Is it on the 3ds shop?
@Ooyah That would be cool if it did have new levels but I doubt it as well. I played it all the way through on Vita and PS4. Hopefully 10tons brings the Tennis and Baseball games over as well.
@adarker
Tennis In The Face is also extremely silly and fun! I mainly picked that one up because I just could not ignore a game with a name like that!
This was a reasonably fun puzzle-ish sort of game that I 100%-ed on Android a couple of years ago. I'll pay $5 for this on the Switch, I think. I do agree with the sentiment that these sorts of phone games should be sandboxed somehow in the eShop.
Oh dear, its just Angry birds!
@Henmii Angry Birds wishes it was as cool as King Oddball! Well, not really...
