It's all down to personal preference anyway, I for one don't like the clicky buttons on the Classic Controller/Pro and would prefer the mushy ones. As for being light... how is that ever a bad thing? I always thought the lighter the better, I've even used the corded Xbox 360 controller instead of the wireless one because it's lighter. It sounds like this guy is the "amateurish" one, giving his vague personal opinion and calling it an official Kotaku statement. As for the controller being cheap? It probably is, but I bet it won't sell for more than $25, which in that case it might be quite nice given the cost.
I just love sitting back quietly about this whole thing and watching it expose PS3 and 360 gamers as complete fanboy's. Even as a Nintendo fan, I've bought competitor's systems to play certain exclusives, so I would expect anyone who is truly a fan of Bayonetta to do the same and buy a Nintendo console. After all, it's all about the games. If you have to own multiple platforms? Well, the more the merrier I always say.
Uhh no thanks, I'll stick with Game & Watch for my repetitive LCD game fix. They could of at least been more creative with their homages, it just comes off as total clones.
Sony is just trying to cover all their bases, but the problem here is that it's not seamless. Just because the hardware exists doesn't mean that developers will make games that expect people to have both platforms, that's one huge thing they're overlooking. Also, another aspect is that the GamePad is more suited for long hours of game time with the more comfortable form and more complete analog sticks, whereas the Vita is a bit cramped so it doesn't seem as intuitive, at least not to me.
I like to call this another one of their "tacked on" efforts.
I see what they mean, there will be people not interested in Nintendo Land or even the GamePad, but will want the the console just to play the core games on. So having one that's cheaper, could be more appealing for those hesitant about jumping on board. I do think 8GB won't be much though... honestly I had it pinned for the other way around, I thought the black 32GB with all the extras was the core gamer bundle, where the white was for the people wanting the new Wii Fit etc.. because it's less overwhelming and already familiar. Hm, weird.
I think people are misinterpreting what this guy is saying. He's not saying that game creators have any lack of creativity, that's Sony, MS, and Nintendo. He's saying it's the BUYERS that have the lack of creativity, they don't want to buy into new game idea's or IP's. His point about Nintendo is that they don't cater directly to what the consumers want, for the most part. Everyone knows that Nintendo has that "we know what's best" attitude, and that's what he's saying. Sony and Microsoft simply give consumers what they want, letting THEM choose what kind of games are made.
I think people are expecting too much out of this week's event. My guess is, this event will play host to hands-on gameplay demo's and give a chance for gaming press to get some information and footage in order to get the ball rolling even more. People will be able to go try new games, there will be video interviews, game play footage, things like that, very typical stuff I think. Nintendo Direct is probably where Nintendo will play their cards and make all the big announcements, but I don't think there are any more surprises coming.
I never once thought it would be a pack-in. Honestly it looks like too ambitious of a title (regardless of being mini-games) to be a pack-in. If it's not, I'm still planning to buy it launch day.
So basically Capcom is announcing that they plan on sucking even more? So what, more sequels to Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and... Resident Evil? The smaller titles will no doubt be plagued by DLC or any such cash grab methods. I hate to say this, as I've been a fan of Capcom since I was very little, but they really don't offer anything of interest to me any more.
Neat, but obviously a bit too early to become even remotely excited. For all we know this could end up being another cancelled game to add to the pile.
Well they are including a course based off the game in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, so maybe they're trying to build up interest again? Either that or this is simply a coincidence and Sega is trying to keep their IP close. If there were any HD re-released I'd imagine it would be on Xbox Live and PSN, probably not Wii U, as that seems to be the way of things. Would have been nice to see Sonic CD re-release on a Nintendo system.
Not a huge Zombie apocalypse fan, but this does look pretty cool. I like that you're not fighting horde's but rather two or three at a time. Is it just me or does the gameplay footage seem sort of... fabricated? The E3 2012 footage certainly was.
I think I've had my fill of on-rail shooters now for the rest of my life, thanks to the plethora available on the Wii. I actually only played like... 4 or 5 but that's more than enough for me. Ghost Squad was probably my favourite, as it was the closest thing to Virtua Cop that Sega has released since.
But yeah, this game looks like garbage, such is the trend with Teyon games so far I've noticed.
Regardless of moral standpoint, this game looks stupid anyway.
For people defending the point that it's not real, just a video game, everyone realizes this but that doesn't mean the IDEA behind a game can't be immoral or sick. Game developers get away with a lot because of the "it's just a game" moniker, there's got to be a certain level of responsibility taken by the developers, after all "it's just a game", so lets come up with an appealing or imaginative way to utilize the game design you've created, rather than delegate to violence or in this case, mass slaughter of wildlife.
Wow, I admit I've never heard of most of these complaints. I always thought the camera was fine, and too difficult? That's not a complaint, that just means you suck.
The only one I've noticed on my own, is the environments all blending in together, not feeling distinct enough. I think people are too hard on Mario Sunshine simply because it's a GameCube game and one of Nintendo's weakest, but that doesn't mean it's bad, or nearly as bad as people say.
That Prototype Zelda cartridge started a new trend: Scamming people by taking NES carts, putting a white sticker on them, and coming up with an elaborate story of how this super rare cartridge made it to the hands of some average ass guy trying to make a buck on eBay.
Seriously, what are the chances of there being a Zelda cartidge almost just like this selling for 50k just a few weeks ago, and then all of a sudden a "Final Fantasy II" cart that looks the same selling for the same price? This is obviously fake, and the seller is trying to do the same as the Prototype Zelda seller, because he saw that it actually worked for him.
My hope for the next one (if any): Less baby talk, less sexism, less "Where's Waldo" moments, new power ups, new suits, and less cut scenes. Oh and a quieter Samus Aran.
Virtual Console needs more N64 games period, particularly the multi-player shooters that made the system rock, Duke Nukem 64, HeXen, Turok, Doom 64 etc. The N64 had some awesome PC ports too like Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and Indiana Jones, often times superior too. Where are these games!?
Didn't Iwata say at 2010's E3 that there would be no latency issues? I'm sure Nintendo would make that a priority when making something like the GamePad.
I was going to say "I pity da fool" who actually buys that, but honestly you'd have to be a complete idiot to pay that much for something the guy obviously made himself, some matte yellow paint and a regular stationary sticker that he could have easily dirtied up to make it look old. Who's to say he didn't write that test copy crap on their himself? The fact that it's exactly the same software goes to show how fake this is. Unless Nintendo somehow certifies this as legit, this shouldn't even be considered by anyone in their right mind.
It's a really divided subject, and I honestly don't know where to stand, but I do think that digital games should be cheaper: always. The money normally used for manufacturing packaged goods is now being turned into profit, therefore I think it would only be fair to ask a lesser price for the product because we as consumers (customers, I hate the word consumer) aren't actually getting anything tangible, just a license to download a digital copy.
I'd say even $29.99 is a reasonable price. If Nintendo really wants to push digital content, I think a lower price combined with the convenience of downloading from the comfort of your home would accomplish that.
If conglomerates like Sony AND Microsoft still haven't knocked Nintendo out of the hardware business, I think that goes to show Nintendo's still got what it takes. Honestly I think people are over-estimating Apple and Google's products. It's as simple as this: There are shiny new compelling products being released into the interactive digital market such as Smartphones and Tablets, and people are just getting caught up in the rush of things and jumping to conclusions.
Step back and really look at it, these Tablets and Smartphones are not practical for being primary gaming devices, there are no buttons or no format for people to conveniently buy games (such as a physical cartridge). What leads everyone to believe that Tablets and Smartphones even have potential to be 'real' gaming devices anyway? Remember the Sony Xperia Play? Most likely you don't, even though THAT had buttons like a PlayStation it still failed because it's first function was a phone which needed a contract with monthly payments.
I believe some day Nintendo will become a software powerhouse, but that will not happen at the hands of Apple or Google, or MS or even Sony. I think it would only happen due to an internal decision caused by Miyamoto and Iwata leaving. Having said that however, I don't think Nintendo will hand the company down to someone willing to delegate to a software publisher, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
"Because of this, you end up rushing through the game in order to avoid all of the random encounters, and fail to fully explore the environments, thus missing many of the hidden treasures."
YOU do. Not everyone finds random encounters as painful as you might. No offense but I find a lot of this review to be based a bit too much on your personal opinion. I understand that's what reviews are, your opinion, but I think there's got to be a certain level of objectivity.
"The only downside to this is that the juxtaposition of the photo-realistic Tron: Legacy characters with the spiky-haired Sora and Riku is so odd that it destroys the atmosphere in The Grid."
I find that rather neat actually, it was the same for the Pirates world in Kingdom Hearts 2.
