Re: Indie Devs Explain Why Their Games Are Successful On Nintendo Switch

NatalieH

I love indie games and I even used to be an indie dev myself and would like to get into it again eventually. However, I despise the Wii and casual games. That's why I'm done buying new Nintendo systems and instead going to play retro, mobile, and PC games only, unless I'm convinced the next Nintendo system will be more like my beloved GCN and not like Wii, Wii U, or Switch.

Re: Nintendo Has Sold 19.67 Million Switch Consoles To Date

@Fight_Teza_Fight Lets Go is in the Pokemon franchise, so it will sell very well, but I doubt it will be the Pokemon Go players that are the ones buying it, rather the ones who were already Pokemon fans to begin with. Unfortunately, Nintendo will falsely interpret the high sales of Lets Go to mean the strategy of appealing to typical mobile/casual gamers works.

Re: Feature: Sitting Down With Panic Button, Nintendo Switch's Most Important Third-Party Studio

Here's an idea, Nintendo says they want the 3DS to continue as a "training wheels" system to the Switch, but by 2020, that probably won't still be able to continue. For the first year or two of the next gen consoles, most games will probably be dual releases between current and next gen consoles, so the Switch will probably still be able to run at least a handful of them like it does now. Then, in 2021 or 2022, Nintendo can release a Switch successor early, when that is no longer the case. Nintendo would then continue to support the original Switch as the new "training wheels" device at a lower price.

@EightBitMan Well, "heavily downgraded ports" are still a big step up from the Wii U which had almost zero third party support, and from the Wii which had lots of third party support, but 90% of it was fitness games and minigame collections.

Re: Video: Japanese WarioWare Gold Trailer Is Four Minutes Of Microgame Insanity

Not sure whether I'll get this or not. The WarioWare series is very underrated and unique, and in fact, Touched is probably my favorite game on the DS. It looks like almost all of the microgames on this game were also on an old game though.

Also, why does Nintendo always wait until the very end of a console's run to release the most experimental titles? That was part of the problem Conker's BFD had, as with Drill Dozer on the GBA. Now, they waited until everyone will be done with their 3DS for a while to release a new title in a series which hasn't had a new game in 8 years.

Re: Nintendo Is Considering A Successor To The 3DS According To Its New President

NatalieH

What should happen is once MS/Sony release their next consoles, Nintendo would release an upgraded Switch, similar to what they did with GBC/DSi/New 3DS, which would be more powerful than PS4 Pro/Xbox One X, but not as powerful as the new consoles. And they would continue to market the original Switch at a lower price and could run only handheld quality games.
But we all know that all Nintendo ever does is make bad business decisions, so they will probably try to release another handheld alongside the original Switch.
