These demand aren't that terrible, and as a fan, I want to see lots of apps on the NX. I don't care about the ones they're listing, but whatever. I do want things like HBO GO, Twitter, etc.
If the NX is better than the PS4 and XB1, then advertise THAT. Let people know, the NX is the BEST place to play Madden, FIFA, etc. Even do some cross promotion. There's so many Mario Sports games. Advertise them during those sports. During wresting and UFC, advertise the Smash NX port. Do the same with all the other Mario Sports games. It makes sense.
The bundle thing, you know what? Why not? Pair an EA Sports game with a digital download of Mario Sports Mix or something. EA gets what they want; and you're giving the buyer a Nintendo game to play too. So they're advertising their own games as well.
And really, it's time to grow up. This whole EA grudge thing, it's time to move on. Honestly, get over it. Not even just at Nintendo, but fans too. You guys need to release this anger. It's useless. NINTENDO IS BARELY SUPPORTING THE WII U AT THIS POINT. HOW CAN YOU EXPECT EA TO DO IT?
EA isn't just sports either. So this could mean Mass Effect on NX. That'd be a REALLY great launch [window] title for the NX. It'd mean Star Wars. Hopefully it'd even mean the older Star Wars games too in the eShop. It could give us Dragon Age. It give us more games to play on the NX and that can only be a good thing.
@IceClimbers Miitomo, My Nintendo, Star Fox Zero, Pokken, the unannounced Splatoon Amiibo, the Bayonetta and Corrin Amiibo... the rumored Paper Mario Wii U. Fates DLC. Pokemon X has to be announced fairly soon too. There's actually lot that needs to be announced, especially if NX becomes the big focus after June.
Earthbound did well in the eShop. Earthbound Beginnings was released last year. It's an anniversary. The Wii U has little else, so releasing this is worth it.
I don't get why people get so down on Amiibo. If I have to pay for DLC anyway, I'd prefer it come in the form of Amiibos, honestly. I get the DLC and a cool figure that I'd buy anyway? Fine by me. I hope that's how Nintendo does DLC in the future for a lot of their first party games. Just as long as the Amiibo are east to fine, and really, lately they have been. So it's cool.C.
@allav866 There HAS to be. There's Detective Pikachu and the Mario Amiibo game that haven't been announced for the West. The new rumored Splatoon Amiibos. CoroCoro is teasing a major reveal for Pokemon in just a few weeks. It's likely Z, so surely Nintendo will announce the game beforehand. Miitomo comes out in just two months. Star Fox Zero and Pokken come out soon too. There's a lot of things Nintendo needs to cover and not very long to do it. Like, I'll be shocked if there isn't a Direct by the end of this week.
@pabloff9 TBH, I don't think Link has been an ~avatar for years. He's his own character at this point. He might have started of meant to be a blank, avatar character, but now? No, I don't think he is. He's an iconic, named character. He's not me, or anyone else. He's Link.
I do agree there should be a female Link option, especially now that there's Linkle. Having the option doesn't hurt anything. Heck, I play Zelda games more than once. So having a female option would be fun. I'd eventually play as both.
Link doesn't need a voice, but his supporting characters and the other people in his world definitely do. Nintendo's fear of voice acting is something they need to work on in the future. It's so rare in their games and, really, a lot of their games would really benefit from having it.The Legend of Zelda being one of the biggest that would.
@fortius54 I don't think they so much have to go after hardcore gamers, but hardcore gamers with kids. Or lapsed Nintendo fans who have moved on to Sony or Microsoft. Give them a system they can get things like Assassin's Creed on, but also get things like Zelda and Mario on too. A system that will provide everything they want.
First ans foremost, I hope Nintendo keeps the name simple. Nintendo X (the X, of course, stands for the two platforms crossing over together.) It'd simply be called the NX among people; the same way the PlayStation 4 is called the PS4. Wii and Wii U were NEVER good names. TBH, kids just don't see it as ~cool. Nintendo needs some 'cool' and I think NX delivers that. It looks cool, it sounds cool. It's sleek. Just go with it. Don't try to come up with any other name. It's not needed.
Secondly, the launch titles. There need to be variety. Zelda U and Smash ports ARE NOT ENOUGH. They should be there. They should be upgraded with better graphics and stuff, because that makes sense to me. Have them look like NX games, but there needs to be more. There needs to be a 3D Mario game, one that adds something new, that same way 64 and Galaxy did. We don't need Galaxy 3 right now, we need something new and groundbreaking. They also need something like Animal Crossing, which people can play WHILE they're playing Mario, Zelda, etc. If people can only buy TWO games at the start, it makes sense one would be a more casual game and the other would be something a bit more hardcore.
Pokemon... it's interesting. Like, Z isn't even announced yet, but realistically, if a Direct where to happen in the next week or two and they announced Z for a May release (which would give the 3DS a major game for the Summer) it's not that far out that they could launch the next generation in the Fall with the NX? It's not like Game Freak can really tease it too much yet, since, there's no console to tease it on? So, I think it's doable. Plus, it's a major anniversary, so even though it doesn't fit past ~trends, there's a reason to break from the norm.
But more important than Launch DAY titles, there needs to be strong titles over the next year and beyond. People are naming off a dozen games for launch DAY and it's like, most people can buy two, maybe three. Do a few at launch, release another a month later, another a month later, another a month later, etc. Nintendo should make that VERY CLEAR at E3 2016. Focus on the stuff coming out within the first nine months. Tease future stuff too, of course. Showing a shot of a new Metroid game due out at the end of 2016 would be smart. It'd get people super pumped, but knowing that there's plenty of content coming is a deal-breaker for a lot of people. Especially if there's a huge variety promised right out the gate.
@Boerewors I think with a lot of them, it'd just be best to move on to new things. Splatoon 2, Bayonetta 3, Pikmin 4, etc. I agree with Smash and Mario Maker, though. Those would be smart to bring over, since it doesn't really seem likely we'd get new version for either for while. What would Mario Maker 2 do? Nothing. They can't really update it.
@ProudGrimleal I think combining their handheld and home console will be a MAJOR help. They'd have one focus and would be able to spread their games out a lot better.
Animal Crossing makes the most sense. It's all about real time, so having it come out on Day 1 of the system's life makes sense. Plus, generally, it'd just be a huge draw.
I do think Mario Kart and Smash would be smart too. They're popular. So, maybe not Day 1, but as soon as possible. They're the types of games you can release updates throughout the system's life. Not over the course of a year, like Smash U did. But literally adding new content over four to six years?
An out-there idea, but it'd be smart for Nintendo to do, MO: Go to an Western studio and have them reboot something like Wild Gunman or Hogan's Alley in the style of something like GTA. Rated T, maybe even M.
Why do I think this is smart? It gives Nintendo a ~mature game. One at launch, that clearly says, "WE'RE WILLING TO DO THIS TYPE OF THING NOW. WE'RE NOT THE SAME NINTENDO OF YESTERDAY." Not only that, but it's bringing back an old title, which is always fun, it's nostalgic. There hasn't been one of either in several decades now, so it makes people curious. So if they were to actually deliver a well-done, nostalgic mature game, it'd be very telling and might make a lot of people do a double take when it comes to the NX and Nintendo. And that's something Nintendo needs to do, IMO.
If only they'd open pre-orders for the Special Edition...
IDK what I'm going to do if I can't get that. I don't want to be forced to choose before I buy. And I don't want to have to do the DLC thing to get the other version. I want it all on one cart.
I mean, if we're going to have marriage and stuff.... why not just make almost everyone an option? Does it REALLY affect the game if I have characters marry the same sex? Especially the minor ones, who can die at any time and you just keep going.
I hope we get a Nintendo Direct by the end of the month. Talk about the mobile games, the new loyalty program, the Twilight Princess HD rumors, and the other Wii games being released in the eShop. What's next for Amiibos now that Smash is done. And some sort of Zelda U/NX because, if TP HD gets announced, they need to let us know something about it. A name at least.
I still wish it let you use other controllers, but I"ve noticed if you do it just right, you can turn the gamepad off and not have it on while the movie/show plays. You just have to go to menu, turn it off, and then put Netflix back on while what you're watching is still playing.
But I'm really glad for the update. Now I really don't need to use my old Wii at all; unless I get the urge to play a Gamecube game.
You know, looking at them, this could be a cool Amiibo. Like, let you save your team to it and then transfer them to another game in just seconds? Nintendo should consider that for future games.
Could also distribute legendary Pokemon that way too. Like, etiher just take it to Gamestop to get it or even have it pre-loading on the Amiibo. Could be fun to carry around a Pokeball to go and catch ~real Pokemon.
@NintendoFan990 I mean, there's innocent black men and woman being murdered in the streets by police with no questions asked, but guys like this aren't... maybe it's a conversation worth having....
I hope so. TBH, how it worked with two just had me confused. I wasn't sure if you pick your side by buying a certain game or if you had the choice in both versions.
@MewTheSmasher I bet you're one of those people who call Sony and Microsoft fans snobs. You might not want those kinds of games, but some people do. You can act like it not true, but it doesn't mean it's not.
@CamWFC91 By not calling it Wii or Wii U? That'd be a good step. IMO, NX is a good name. It's kind of vague, which makes people curious, but also sounds cool. Wii just sounds childish.
Change things like Miis. Make them so you can personize them more with clothes, better hair and face options. Make the start-up layout more sleek and less bulky.
And give them the right games. Not only third party, but reimagine some games. Zelda Metroid, and Star Fox could all work as more mature/darker games. Give them super intense gameplay. Give them complex stories. Make there be choices that really matter and effect the game.
Resurrect and reimagine dead franchises. Hogan's Allley and Wild Gunman are good choices for a GTA or Call of Duty style games for Nintendo. They can be two flagship mature titles.
@theplotlessplot I agree. Hopefully the NX is straight forward. No crazy controller. Just something like the Pro Controller. That way developers don't have to figure out how to incorporate Nintendo's controller into their game. The easier for them, the better.
@CamWFC91 Most gamers started with Nintendo. So, really I don't even think it's just a "Nintendo is lame, I wouldn't even try them" but a "If the choice comes down to Mass Effect or Metroid, I have to go with Mass Effect." But if Mass Effect was on the NX, then thst choice doesn't need to be made. Then those same people get to have two franchises they like on one system. So it makes sense for them to go with the NX instead of XBox or PS4.
@MikeW Nintendo needs to work to get third party games. They need to make the NX do what an XBox and PS4 can do and get those third party games. Otherwise, people have no need to buy Nintendo.
If they got the third party games, it then becomes "Okay, but what system has the best first party games?" Then they get to make a choice. It's not Sony or Microsoft. It's Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo. The third party games that would be on every system are now on Nintendo too. If someone can only get on system, outside of hardcore Nintendo fans, why would anyone pick Nintendo if they're not getting a huge chunk of games? It makes no sense. Give people the third party games and great first party games. Give them great apps, like a useable Netflix app. And things like HBO Go, etc. That way they get the most out of their system. Nintendo needs to treat it like a person can only have one and make Nintendo the one thst can give them everything thry want.
@theplotlessplot Like, Mario hasn't given me anything new in over a decade. I just want a Mario game that is visually interesting. That's why I'm so in love with Yoshi's Woolly World. It looks great. It's different. I would love to see Mario do something different, but it's always same-old-same-old.
@Scizor711 Yes, because continuing to put time, money, and effort in a last gen system is worth anyone's time. What Nintendo is doing now clearly isn't working. They can no longer survive on fanboys alone. If the Wii and Wii U doesn't make that clear, IDK what will.
Honestly, if they can get the NX out by the end of 2016, I'm fine with it it. I love my Wii U, but if quietly killing it means Nintendo catches up with Sony and Microsoft, it's a scarifice I'm willing to make. I got a lot of great games out of the Wii U, so it isn't a waste for me.
But I do think Nintendo needs to get with the times and this is the way to do it. The NX, hopefully it's on the graphic level as XBox and PS4. So hopefully that will open some doors for some third party stuff. And hopefully they drop the gimmicks because, IMO, neither the Wiimote or Gamepad really ever met their potential. So, I just don't think they're nessesary. Just do a normal controller.
Hopefully they push back some of their bigger games so the NX has great launch titles. Starting the system with a new Zelda and Animal Crossing would be such a smart move.
As for the Wii U, they should fill the void with filler stuff. Maybe a few HD remakes of some Gamecube games like Sunshine, The 1000 Year Door, and Luigi's Mansion. Do remakes of Fire Emblem (especially with Ike being in Smash and F Zero GX to test how console versions would do. Then end it with Zelda, which also comes out on NX.

Re: Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford
Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"
@Scizor711 Yes, because continuing to put time, money, and effort in a last gen system is worth anyone's time. What Nintendo is doing now clearly isn't working. They can no longer survive on fanboys alone. If the Wii and Wii U doesn't make that clear, IDK what will.
Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"
