The internet trolls seem to be out in full force, griping and whining about Animal Crossing, New Horizons. First review-bombing, and now this. I wonder why it's drawing so much criticism for such nonsensical reasons...
I have no intention to even try to go to E3, but I'm still going to miss it if it goes away. It's always fun to watch the presentations online, even if they aren't very good. I guess it's just the spirit of the event that makes it fun.
As someone who doesn't really trust or admire the average movie star, I'd rather that celebrities focus on sharing things like their love of Nintendo as opposed to their political viewpoints. If she loves Animal Crossing, good for her! I'd rather discuss that than politics.
@Henmii Yeah... that's true. Byleth probably should be the last FE character for a while, but it wouldn't be too surprising if he/she isn't. Considering that FE has equal representation with Pokemon and is only 2nd to Mario overall, I'd like to see another Nintendo IP get some new fighters.
Hmmm... at this point, it seems like pretty much any video game character is a possibility. I wouldn't have guessed this one before, but who knows? All I can say is bring on Fighter's Pass 2!
@Xansies That would explain why they ended pass 1 with Byleth. Don't get me wrong; he/she looks like a cool addition, but I was honestly expecting another third party fighter (I was hoping for Master Chief). I'm definitely looking forward to seeing who the next 6 are, and after Byleth, it's reassuring to know that a few of them might be Nintendo characters, as there are still plenty more of them I'd like to see.
Personally, I couldn't be happier with Luigi's Mansion 3 so far. I have yet to beat it, but I've found it to be the most enjoyable original Switch game since Breath of the Wild. I can understand why it wouldn't be to everyone's tastes, but for me, it's just about perfect.
@Kal_ I strongly agree with this assessment. Almost every single one of Disney's animated features was based off of a pre-existing book or myth to begin with (just look at this list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Walt_Disney_Animation_Studios_films), and they are barely even trying to do any more of those anymore anyway. I also am appalled at what has happened to Pixar under their control.
Eh, let's keep Disney and Nintendo separate, please. I know a lot of people look at them both as being either ridiculously over-protective and largely quality, fun entertainment, but they don't have the same ideals. Disney has made a business of adapting other people's stories into popular film, while Nintendo comes out of the left field with zany, fun, and well-crafted IPs and games. They aren't even remotely similar at this point in time. Besides, as @thesilverbrick and others have already pointed out, Smash is a gaming crossover, and I feel that it ought to remain that way.
All this complaining about Doug TenNapel is, quite honestly, ridiculous. If I boycotted everything that was partially produced by someone with different political and/or religious views than me, I'd have to boycott almost everything on the planet! If you're boycotting because of how you think he treats his employees (I don't know much about it myself), I might be more understanding, but I still think that dismissing this game as a whole extremely unfair.
@Ludovsky I could definitely get behind this. I mean, I like well-done sprite work (like what they showed for Cadence of Hyrule, for example), but variety in visual styles is always appreciated. That's honestly one of the things that makes each Zelda game feel unique and fresh.
Wow. This is interesting. I'd honestly have been afraid to try downloading more than one or two at a time, let alone 64. (It's not like I have that many anyway, but even if I did...) Still, good to know, I guess.
Two years delay, huh? I guess the only way this could get more interesting is if Nintendo announces a new F-Zero game in the next direct. Still, though, I understand that porting isn't always easy, and it's cool that they are still trying to honor their word by releasing it.
Personally, I don't find this super surprising, although I'd happily see Netflix and Nintendo's spots switched. However, Stranger Things is so good that I'll attempt to accept their position somewhat gracefully.
@mist As a millenial, I find your comment to be highly, highly...
...amusing. So would the vast majority of my millenial friends, I imagine. Although I do wish people would not act like we are seeing on display in this video, it's still good for a laugh every now and then.
@Baart LOL! No kidding. It's so comical to see this argument get rehashed again and again. Following this logic, I guess DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest and DKC3: Dixie's Double Trouble were both lies because you didn't play as Donkey Kong. Mother is so ridiculous. The protagonists are little boys! And Metroid needs to have a playable Metroid protagonist! We should boycott Final Fantasy because there's nothing final about it! It just keeps going! Oh, and Dragon Quest sucks because you play as people instead of Dragons! So much to get triggered about, so little time.
@Klunk23 That's perfectly understandable. I tend to find it annoying when one thing is consistently hailed as being the greatest of all time myself. Funnily enough, about the only time I've ever agreed with that is with Ocarina of Time. Still, I'm glad not everyone feels the same way. Otherwise, it would become pointless to ever read another "Best game of all time" list.
@Klunk23 That's interesting. I only played it with the 3DS version a few years back, and I definitely feel that it still holds up to this day, and it's one of my all time favorite games. I really enjoyed the gameplay, and even the midi tracks were great, in my opinion. To each their own, I guess.
@Ludovsky Interesting! I will say that they've convinced me to not only get Octopath Traveler, but to also strongly consider Dragon Quest 11, a series I've never played. I would like to see the Switch become the major home of JRPGs.
@Ludovsky That actually makes very good sense. A lot of people seemed to think that the Switch wasn't going to do very well, and making a new exclusive for such a risky console is a fairly ambitious gamble. Whatever the reason, as long as that supposed sequel exists, I'll be happy.
@Abeedo: Yes, but nothing else Labo related has been. Even then, there are various models of this one for specific tasks and games, hence it is something a little different than we've seen before.
@Reigestugatensho I can't tell if you're actually offended or not. I never said anything about teens one way or the other. Honestly, a lot of the games coming out this year are just as much for kids as anyone else anyway. All I was doing was mentioning that any adults complaining about it have plenty of content to look forward to this year, so there wasn't any reason to be annoyed. So, sorry if I offended you, I guess, but there's really no reason why you should have been. :/
@Rika_Yoshitake LOL! So true. With Link's Awakening, Mario Maker 2, Astral Chain, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Yoshi's Crafted World, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, and so much more, we adults are getting more than enough content this year. Even though I'm not going to buy it, I'm still impressed by the ingenuity involved.
@Agriculture Correct! Their quality control saved the video game market with the NES in the 1980s. I'm pretty sure most of the micro-transaction mobile monstrosities of today were the E.T.s of yesteryear, quality wise.
Honestly, this is a very good thing. Most smartphone games are playable without money anyway. They just require a lot of patience. I've made it past level 60 in Pocket Camp without paying a single cent.
@Elvie Wow. Your comment reminded me of the fact that's he's been a part of Nintendo since before I even knew what the company was. It's crazy that another person who was there though the Wii (my first console), DS, and everything else until now is leaving.

@Heavyarms55 I agree. I might be persuaded to watch a Studio Ghibli Zelda film, though...

@Alpha-2002 Yes please! I'd be over the moon if Halo arrived on the Switch, and almost more so if Master Chief made it into Smash...

Just kidding, by the way. I think the combined success for both systems is pretty awesome.

Are console wars petty? Yes. Yes they are.
IN YOUR FACE, PLAYSTATION!!!!!!
Ahem, as I was saying...
Re: Shalnor Legends: Sacred Lands Arrives This Week Channelling The Legend of Zelda
@Ludovsky That almost looks like concept art for an indie game, actually. Thanks for sharing! I would love to see a game in this style,
Re: Video: Highlights From The Midwest Gaming Classic
What?! A Zelda CD-i game was a highlight? Everything Nintendo's done until now (to protect the Zelda IP)... it was all for nothing!
This is a pretty cool-sounding event. Maybe I'll try to make it sometime.
Re: Shalnor Legends: Sacred Lands Arrives This Week Channelling The Legend of Zelda
@Ludovsky Yes! Octopath Traveler is absolutely gorgeous, and I'd love to see more games use an experimental style like that.

What do you mean, "Who needs a Link's Awakening remaster?"
(Internal Screaming)
Just kidding. Zelda-like indies are cool, but they'll probably never get me as excited as an official Zelda game does.
