Mayhem in Monsterland never came out in the US, there's no official NTSC version. HOWEVER... Psytronik has produced a 15th anniversary release of the game with an NTSC version newly made for US residents. Maybe whoever handles the C64 releases can reference that if it's to make it over the pond...
Whisky Tango Foxtrot?! Between this and Great Giana Sisters being remade for the DS, I think the SMB parody brigade is out in force. Frankly this looks to me so Sega of the mid 80s it's a bit strange heh...
Online would be so nuts on this... but I'm not anticipating it sadly. But we'll see... seems good value for money so far. Played the arcade and C64 versions to death...
The hair might be a lot, lot longer today but that's the same old John as always heh... and yeah he was about 19 when they launched firmly onto the C64 scene with Retrograde. He was about 23 when Mayhem came out. Many programmers around that time were that sort of age, cutting their teeth on assembly and design.
And I remember the gag mentioned in the second video @ 3 minutes with the voting slip. Definite oversight whoops, but hey it allowed a ton of us to finally contact the guys to give them feedback
Was gonna write something but KDR pretty much summed up my thoughts as well on the matter. It IS a good chance for third party developers to shine instead of competing with Nintendo titles on this platform at least.
@Sycoraxic - as Dazza said, look at the front of the Super Famicom version of Super Mario World and you'll see the words "Super Mario Bros 4"...
@ObjectionBlaster - only recently have publications switched? Depends... Edge from day one have used 5 = average and at NTSC-UK we have always used 5 = average too (started 2001). I think Zzap!64 were always in the 5 = average category as well and that's from the 80s.
And in many places I bet people are saying hoo-bloody-ray, well okay not the US cos they don't use "bloody" much heh. C4 still is the best Castlevania for me though
@Objection Blaster - that was the Eurogamer reader top 50 list. Peter Moore is complaining about FIFA09 being missing from Eurogamer's STAFF top 50 list of 2008... but you may have known that anyhows.
Oh indeed, not condoning it, just trying to rationalise why it might have happened. As said, you don't see any issues until wanting to load level two...
I had a think about why this might be happening and I'm reminded of the issues I had when I tried to convert my LN3 original disks for Retro Gamer back when they had the games on their cover mount CD (issue #18). There is some seriously nasty copy protection going on, and I wonder if the emulator they are using isn't equipped to deal with it. IIRC the images need a fair bit of patching as well to get them emulator working.
However you don't get to see things go tits up until you try changing disk sides... which happens at the end of level one! The similarity may be more than coincidence here. LN1 and LN2 I got working fine but LN3 I didn't have the time to get patched so RG used a cracked copy instead on the CD!
Exactly, it'll be little to no American traffic to the site. I did all the surveys this morning and they flew through compared to the lag fest of last night.
@Stardust - I guess I should have been more specific. Linked WoG to my account? Yes. Given me my 10 coins for it? No.
Currently accrued 590 coins, so WoG will take me to the magical 600 required for Platinum status. I wonder what free gifts will be offered in June compared to Japan?
I've migrated but the site is so lagged and slow currently I can do little else for the moment bar sling customer services a message asking them to link my copy of World of Goo to my profile.
Although not the Samurai bushido, ninjas often did have their own code of honour. Reyn's music in this game is terrific, almost as good as Matt Grey's for LN2.
@Betagam7 - it's a touch easier to beat than the original because you don't need to search everything or beat every room, you just need the codes to exit each tower and get the music from the safe.
This was released in 2000 for the N64. Remind you of another pad that, at the time, was yet to appear? Strange huh... I think Hori must have seen early Cube designs.

Re: Night Game - New Game Play Video
Interesting... could be good. Controls will be all important though.
Re: Wisconsin To Tax Digital Downloads
@Josh, Fox, DDR - and I'll be putting the "ill" and "annoy" into Illinois in July myself. Back visiting a close friend and then heading off to SDCC.
As for digital download tax, I have a feeling the price would go up to accommodate the revenue the seller is now losing...

Re: Nintendo DSi North American Launch: April 5th
@ProfessorLayton - likewise actually, more excited about a Western version of Rhythm Heaven!
Re: Diatomic: Microscopic Arcade Action Madness
Colour me interested. The art style is definitely a winner imo.

Re: New Cave Story Graveyard Screenshot
For some reason the main shot at the top reminds me of Lemmings...
Re: Animales de la Muerte Officially NOT Coming To WiiWare
Disappointing... still hold hope it will come out in some form
Re: Bubble Bobble Plus Gets Rated for Western Release
Bring it on! As long as it's not this month... too much to play this month! Maybe next month, in between RE5...
Re: More Info and Screenshots for Bubble Bobble Wii
My brother and I played the arcade and C64 versions to death... I might just be able to rope him back into this for some two player fun.
Re: All New Screenshots From Icarian: Kindred Spirits
Looking interesting and cool... still reminds me of the cover to Ico though heh...

Re: Nintendo Channel: John Rowlands C64 Interview
@Kelvin - he says they were approached to license their games for the VC so both Creatures games may well appear down the line.

Re: Review: Jungle Speed (WiiWare)
No online? Pity, I think that would have added quite a bit to it...

So not quite a load of balls then... but just average.

@StuffGamer - Fry and Laurie? Excellent choice

Re: Capcom To Release Mega Man 9 Soundtrack
@WiiLoveIt - that's almost the highest price I've seen asked for it. I got mine for ever so slightly less than that heh...
Re: Capcom To Release Mega Man 9 Soundtrack
In like Ness as well... for those who didn't get it originally perhaps.

Re: Semnat Studios Interview - Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
You know you're doing something right when other sites report on your interview
Re: Semnat Studios Announces Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
Whisky Tango Foxtrot?! Still, one to put on the radar and see how it turns out heh...

Why... so... crabby?!
Guess we'll see what the review scores ends up being...

Re: SnakeByte Christmas Compo - Win Yourself Some Wii Goodies
1) Uwe Boll casting session for the live Megaman film.
2) Now he's playing with power...! He'll also be playing with himself...
3) Hey darling... I got something six inches long here that needs blowing...

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bruiser & Scratch, Hockey Allstar Shootout
Hmmm B&S seems a possible buy, will await the review to see
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Space Invaders Get Even & Pit Crew Panic!
Ooooo Space Invaders time!
Re: Icarian: Kindred Spirits - Kid Icarus In All But Name?
Interesting... though why do those shots remind me of the cover to Ico?
Re: Space Invaders Get Even Coming To US WiiWare December 1st
Is all the DLC available from day one btw? Might consider this, just need to clear off most of my downloads to fit it all in
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Boingz & Sudoku Challenge!
Will await a review of Boingz, hopefully it will come good...
Re: Hori Announces New Classic Controller For Japan
Will have to consider getting this... but only if there are more Wii games that need it that can't be used via Wavebird...
As for Hori and Nintendo being close, yes they have for a long time. Take a look at this for example:

Re: Evasive Space Is Anything But Evasive When It Comes to Screenshots
Interesting... certainly looks promising. Awaiting a gameplay video or similar to see more
Re: Virtual Console Reviews is Two Today!
Congrats and happy birthday to VC Reviews
Re: High Voltage Confirms Evasive Space For WiiWare
I think WHETHER you can get Animal Crossing is the more pertinent question... massive over ordering by the sounds of it.
As for Evasive Space, I'll reserve judgement until seeing some shots and video footage...
Re: World of Goo Coming to WiiWare in Europe!
Least this IS a bit more fair, and yes... patch the game down the line so that we can DLC the Moon chapter (all regions).
Re: Hudson announce Pool Revolution: Cue Sports for WiiWare
If this can be like Virtual Pool way back for the PC, then I might just be game for a buy...
Re: USA VC Update: Mega Man 3
Yeah I saw that as well and scratched my head...
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Brain Challenge and Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam
Pretty much what I was gonna say sfog... though once you get into that sort of game, it can be rather addictive...
Re: Review: Space Invaders Get Even (WiiWare)
Roll on booting from SD card... I need more space on the Wii! Pity it wasn't a retail game... because along with this review, I've heard good things.
