Unfortunately you can't really do that with C64 releases. Many of them (especially towards the end of its life) were written specifically to take advantage of timings and scanlines available in only one of the formats (usually PAL), meaning that playing them on the other format resulted in a mess.
@Outrunner - you're thinking of the two Disc Company compilations available on cart. Or maybe you got the one that had both carts in one box. You can see some pics on my site here: http://www.mayhem64.co.uk/disc.htm
Actually I'm not sure if Lemmings hits the shops just after Mayhem. Certainly many people I know didn't get it until 1994, although I got my copy of Lemmings about the same time Mayhem turned up in the post.
Just as well I still have my C64 and tons of games, given I have a US Wii... still, would be nice for American peeps to relive some of their childhood too.
Secret of Mana was a great game to play with my brother... but we got stuck about 2/3 of the way through and never managed to finish it sadly. The cart on my shelf still probably has our save on it (if the battery hasn't died!).
Interesting... because it's the first non-Commodore owned (non liquidation) game to be announced. All the others so far were included on the 30-in-1 joysticks. And what a game to start with!
Yeah the artwork and game are a bit weird... it's a thinking shooter really. And I own the original artwork to this. Shows my devotion
@WiiLoveItOnline - yeah it is quite like de Blob, just 20 years earlier. You have to capture the paint droplets and mix and match the primary colours to form the target colour wanted.
Won't even be 200, as they've already given out codes to let prominent Megaman fans on the Capcom Unity site buy them already (know a couple of people who got them). I'd say there will be about 150 left, the mass scrum down is 11pm BST tonight! Their site is gonna die...!
Even though it is US only shipping. Fingers crossed though, I might have secured one for myself...
Anyone who hasn't got/played the Mario Golf on N64, get it now! Better imo than the Cube version... and even better in multiplayer putting everyone off hah hah...
Wooo first comment... could be fun even though technically it's another puzzle game. Video reminds of MvDK2 in some ways, but your characters are a bit more flexible and stretchy!
Well if they announce a way for non DSi owners to download the games to some GBA flash pack, then there is zero reason for me to upgrade. I'm still quite happy with the US launch day phat silver DS I own...
Well it's something... not having to worry just yet as I've been copying off my old VC/WiiWare games to SD card already. But being able to run them from the format instead will be handy.
That is true Badknux, about liking opinions. Except the SNES is probably the greatest console to have ever been released in terms of the quality of games on it. Just my opinion of course. Don't get me wrong, I think the Megadrive had some excellent titles as well. Just the SNES trumped it overall. Best decision I ever made in 1991 to get the console and finally "upgrade" from my C64...
Super Metroid is god... but the Turrican games on the C64 are pretty special too. Had both games on the SNES down on my "buy it if I spot them" list for quite a while...
Got to play this over the weekend at a mate's house, five man multiplayer action. Just like the old times... will be waiting even more now for the US release!
Just ordered two, one for me and one for a friend. And yes I'm in the UK, but said friend is in the US so they are getting sent there...! I've got quite a few promo and design shirts in my collection, so this is mainly for posterity rather than actually wearing... maybe!

Re: Nicalis Interview: Cave Story
Sounds like everything is well in hand... always helps a port if the programming team were big fans
Re: Gradius Rebirth Gets ESRB Rated
Bring it on I say... as long as I can use my Cube arcade stick with it, all will be well heh...
Re: Mega Man 9 Stop-Motion Video is Great Beyond Words
Brilliant!

Re: Lonpos Comes to Europe
Ouch on the cost of the DLC...
Re: Review: Home Sweet Home (WiiWare)
Not as bad a score as some people were predicting...
Re: Cue Sports: Snooker vs. Billiards Coming To WiiWare In November
What a load of balls
Well keep an open mind at least, been a while since there's been a good pool game imo...
Re: Toki Tori Invades Japan

Re: Kaasa Interview - Commodore 64 on Virtual Console

Re: Overturn Coming To Japanese WiiWare
Virtua-On? Could be interesting...
Re: Toki Tori Invades Japan
Yeah, didn't get around to checking this out, just too many other decent games to consider... maybe down the line.
Re: Boom Tapper Coming To Japanese WiiWare
Yeah my immediate thought was Boom Blox as well!
Re: Brand New Sorcery Blade Game Play Video
Well this gen hasn't exactly been huge for RPGs on any format, so any decent entry gets my vote...
Re: Review: Tetris Party (WiiWare)
Let the falling blocks commence... might grab this, but then again I've never been a big multiplayer Tetris person.

Re: Mart Racer To Bring Supermarket Sweep Excitement To WiiWare
If there's no Dale, then it ain't worth it
Re: Mayhem in Monsterland
Maybe they had originally planned on including the copy protection colour code sheet the game came with
Re: Mayhem in Monsterland
Glad to hear you're enjoying it Betagam!
Re: EU VC Releases: Mayhem in Monsterland and More
Given how much originals of Mayhem go for (10-15 quid for tape, 30-50 quid for disk) then 500 points really IS a bargain...
Re: Mayhem in Monsterland
It's sort of the same mechanics but a different game (there's no flying kicks in this title!). Still done by the Rowlands though.
Re: Impossible Mission II
Even though it isn't quite as good as the original IM, it is still a damn fine game and keeps you on your toes with new strategies to figure out.
Re: New Swords & Soldiers Instructional Video
Could be interesting indeed, depends on how good the controls are...
Re: Review: World of Goo (WiiWare)
@Yatesy - I have a US Wii
Re: Review: World of Goo (WiiWare)
Just as well I put 5000 points on my Wii recently, may well check this out given the score and the fact I like a good thinking game...
Re: USA VC Releases: Secret of Mana and Street Fighter II Genesis

Re: USK Update: Wizball
No Amiga titles on the VC yet... maybe C64 Microprose Soccer then?
Re: Last Flight - New Screenshots
Mmmm... tasty. Banned in Australia already probably

Re: USA VC Releases: Mario Golf and Shining Force II
If you haven't played N64 Mario Golf, get it now... better than the Cube version imo.
(then again so was the Tennis)

Wooo.... the anticipation builds!

Re: Capcom Releases Two Mega Man 9 Downloadable Content Packs
Before I go download it, the infinite level... do you start with all the weapons and a set number of power-ups/lives etc?
Re: Confusion Reigns over Mega Man 9 Sales
It's a lot... hopefully enough for Capcom to consider MM10... maybe in a SNES style engine!
Re: WiiWare Announcement Blowout - Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands and More
Interesting... very interesting. Let's hope more than a few make it over this side...
Re: Wahoo Studios / NinjaBee Interview: Boingz
Only plush stuff I have are some red Pikmin... they're nice heh...

Re: New WiiWare Games: Cave Story And Boingz
Cave Story? Really? Ah hah, this should be fun then... especially as it isn't going to be a straight port

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bomberman Blast And Art Style: Orbient
Is there is a list of friend codes for Bomberman about, or am I going to have to join the forum to get them?
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bomberman Blast And Art Style: ORBIENT
Played Bomberman over the weekend, just like old times again. Best go put some more points on the system...!
Re: Art Style: ORBIENT
Watched the video on the Nintendo Channel, seemed interesting. Will keep an eye open for reviews before buying.
Re: Super Turrican 2
Super Metroid is god... but the Turrican games on the C64 are pretty special too. Had both games on the SNES down on my "buy it if I spot them" list for quite a while...
