GameLoft’s Brain Challenge is a lot like Nintendo’s Brain Training series – which is no bad thing when you consider how stupidly popular they are. It was released in Europe last week so you can check out our review here – we quite liked it, actually. It costs 1000 Wii Points.
The other WiiWare release has come completely out of the blue. Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam wasn’t even on our ‘coming soon’ list, yet here it is on WiiWare! It also costs 1000 Wii Points and sounds like a light-hearted cooking simulation, where you create all manner of outlandish dishes for some mightily strange customers – including vampires and ninjas! Needless to say, we’ll have a review up for this as soon as possible so if you’re unsure, hold off buying just yet.
Elsewhere on the network, you can find out about this week’s Virtual Console release – Capcom’s Mega Man 3!

I just KNEW this would come out today. I'll probably be getting this. It seems great a la BBA: WD, except with simultaneous multiplayer.
I wonder how the Cooking game will turn out, especially with the likes of Iron Chef, Cooking Mama, and Order Up already owning the turf in that department.
I'll stick with Big Brain Academy
It's a dark day in America today!
Swell, this update sucks.
Meh, it's not that bad, imo. Besides, we had 2 great weeks (3 if you include ACR which I don't), I'm not surprised with today's update, save for the mysterious title. I actually expected something else but whatever.
Europe can laugh at us now. They deserve it!
Brain Challenge is surprisingly good according to the review. Mega Man 3 is known to be great. Yummy Yummy is completely unknown Hardly dark though. *laughs*
Yep, and that's great to hear. Actually, I'm not surprised it's good. It seemed decent from what I knew beforehand.
Yeah, Mega Man 3, hopefully this game will also be release on this Friday in Europe =).
Yeah, I'm really glad we finally got Mega Man 3. I'm definitely going to get it. I just really wanted Space Invaders after watching the reviews by Demon 212 on youtube. I guess this just gives me more time to catch up on other games I have yet to complete. I do hope we get Space Invaders soon though.
MM3 the thing that impresses me today. Thats it.
Yummy Yummy wasn't so unexpected because of that:

We have a restaurant here named Yummy Yummy.
At least we now know what Yummy Yummy is...can't wait to see it in action, it sounds like the knid of thing that could be a total disaster though...
Also, MaBoShi is now ESRB rated so America has something to look forward to at least
Edit: And Space Invaders...
I'm sorry, WHAT!?
I was hoping to get Space Invaders Get even today, but I guess the October blitz is truly over
Dang it, Space Invaders was replaced by a cooking sim
well... sounds more like a mini-game compilation with a cooking theme than a sim.
Virtual Toys is a Spanish developer (YEAH FOR THEM)... weird to see the game come out first in the US. Although maybe it did due to the contract they have with publizher UbiZoft to make thoze great gamez.
P.S. The blitz is still there (two games weekly), only not all the games are hyped up to smithereens.
EDIT: Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam image; http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/2166/i16812jd6.jpg
From it's description, Yummy Yummy sounds somewhat like the Atari 2600 classic Pressure Cooker, which was a pretty addictive game.
I already have Brain Challenge on Xbox Live Arcade. It's pretty good as the genre goes (I've played worse, that's for sure), but I don't really know how the Wii version would stack up. The controls, if forcibly motion-based, could become a problem.
This Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam just sounds weird. I need a video before I give it any more attention.
#17: Pretty much what I was expecting although I was thinking it would be polygons instead of 2D figures. Looks better than i was imagining though.
"Yummy Yummy wasn't so unexpected because of that:

It was also ESRB rated a while back, during the summer, but I guess nobody picked up on it or thought it was a retail release.
Guess I will have to wait till next week to see if any games I like will come out. Mabey the cooking game will be fine but I will not be getting it that is for sure. As for Brain Challenge I think I will by Big Brain Acadamy instead at least that way I'll still have memory space on my Wii.
"Yummy Yummy sounds somewhat like the Atari 2600 classic Pressure Cooker, which was a pretty addictive game."
Oh yeah, I played that one! Fun little game despite it's age. If YY is anywhere near as good as that game, I'd take a look.
Nothing too interesting here this week.
This week is decent for us, and I love surprises!
Judging from its manual, Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam seems like one of those "casual" arcadey cooking games, like Cake Mania, Order Up or others of that style. It also seems a bit overpriced at $10, it probably should have been $7 or $8.
Wait... Yummy Yummy WHAT?!
Where did this one come from?
Oh, amd does anyone know when exactly Fun Fun Minigolf is due? Aside from Art Style and Strong Bad, it's the only WW game I want that's supposed to be released soon.
Yummy Yummy screenshots are up now
They're not that yummy actually but neither do they leave a bad taste.
Nice avatar Wiiloveit
but, WHERE is Space Invaders? Sad face, for sure.
It will be hard to play any cooking game after Order Up! that game just nailed it so well.
(yeah, that exclamation mark is in the game title...though I'd include one myself )
If you are at all interested in the cooking game genre(?), Order Up! is a must play .
@Lockelocke: Thanks - I'm glad someone noticed my LOST avatar. After my variety of previous avatar's (Pikmin, LostWinds, Elite Beat Agents, Ice Climbers - no thanks to Corbie - Sin & Punishment, Dharma Initiative logo), I've been thinking of changing my piccy again since I finished the fourth season DVD this afternoon, and don't want to be reminded of the (awesome) series until Spetember next year, when I'll have some cram sessions before the new box set comes out in October. The problem with that though is that most people know each other on here by their avatars, and so when I keep changing mine, I'm most likely confusing everyone. What am I to do?
Awww, Yummy Yummy doesn't look anything like Pressure Cooker, Diner Dash, or any games like that! Pass.
I remember seeing a PEGI Rating about a game called Yummy Yummy. Thought there was a mistake. Seems i was wrong
Wait - who the hell changed my picture to Hello Kitty (as if I have to ask)?!?
Actually - I could get quite used to it. Hmm...
@Wiiloveit
LOL
Nice picture. No offense but i just laughed seeing that.
Forgot to say this. I might get Yummy Yummy as it looks decent and i do like cooking games. I'll wait until a review though, of course.
@ Wiiloveit - That was for the Ice Climber comment. And I'm playing Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam right now, so I should begin writing the review later tonight. Very interesting choice of game indeed.
@ Mr. Cheez - I loved Pressure Cooker on the Atari 2600. I used to spend hours with that game. The music was amazing for that time period.
Pretty much what I was gonna say sfog... though once you get into that sort of game, it can be rather addictive...
Corbie, have i done anything to annoy you? if i have, tell me, i can fix it. Also, what Ice Climber comment? Oh god PLEASE DON'T CHANGE MY AVATAR TO HELLO KITTY AS WELL. If you do, I know where you live
My Drama classes have been going quite well lately, this time, the desperate, grovelling idiot who knows where people live. I actually had to do that. What do you guys/girls think of it? Also, i started reading Penny Arcade webcomics. Hilarious stuff.
Also, i really will hunt you down if anything happens to that avatar Corbie.
Yummy Yummy is an overpriced pass once you look at the Nintendo Channel Video.
This week is a pass for me on both the VC and WiiWare. Not that big of a Mega Man, Edutainment, or a Cutesy-Cooking Simulationthatoverlapsthealreadymediocreminigamesthatareinthegameitself fan really. Sorry.
I 'm not sure that Yummy Yummy will be really yummy
@Corbie. The music might've been alright for it's time (it's one of the few atari games I heard actual music in), but it certainly hasn't aged well at all, as it makes my ears bleed every time I hear it. Atari audio drives me nuts. That's why I turn the volume down every time I pop in my Activision Anthology cartridge. The gameplay for those games have aged pretty well though.
And you better not change MY avatar to Hello Kitty, or Native American Mega Man will have your head.
I Still want to know what WiiLoveit said about Ice Climbers to deserve that
@ Terranigma - I had given him an Ice Climbers avatar and we were kidding about it. And I'd certainly never take away an avatar as great as Ark. In fact, all this talk has made me want to play Terranigma again. Now that's a game I'd love to see hit the Virtual Console.
@ Mr. Cheez - I still love the music in those games as I spent hour after hour playing them and have nothing but fond memories of them. But I can see how some might find it annoying given how simplistic it was/is. And I thought that was a peacock on Mega Man's head.
Well I need to get back to Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam. Gotta get the review written.
@Corbie
Ok, thanks for that explanation. Glad to hear my Ark Avatar is safe. Terranigma truly was a great game. I really don't need to explain how much i want that on here, but for now, my original cartridge will do. I need to go find it as I'm feeling that itch. I've tried keeping it away for now with the Penny Arcade, Neo Monster Island and 8-bit theater webcomics to keep me occupied, followed by some Homestar Runner. I'll find it tomorrow or whenever i get the chance to get it out my brother's room.
Also, how is Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam so far?
The only avatars I've changed is Wiiloveit and SuperMario in kidding around. All others I only added one if they didn't already have an avatar.
I'm trying to play all the way through Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam before I write it up because it keeps changing as you progress through the game. I'll get it done as quickly as possible.
No thanks on both... on the other hand, Mega Man 3 would be cool.. maybe I'll get that.
My comment!?! 'Tis gone!
Suspects include:
Corbie (just kidding)
Seriously, though, why was my comment deleted?
It went approximately like this.
Corbie, you must have been the one that replaced my avatar ages ago. Anyway, I look forward to the Yummy review, but I come with the presupposition that it will be bad (the game, not the review, Corbie )
Yeah, about like that. I left off the last part of the former comment, which might have been asking for deletion.
they should make mega man X9 on wiiware and put the first three mega man Xs on the VC!!
anyone agree?
^ I do.
We need more wiiware and vc bonanza , but judging for this update, I don't think it will come soon.
Anyway, I'm only moderately interested in Brain Challenge, and I'll wait for Corbie's review on Yummy Yummy before any comment on it.
@Corbie-First thoughts on Yummy Yummy though? Overall good, bad, meh? THat vague would be fine for now! I hope the title is sufficiently "yummy" enough to warrant both "yummy"'s.
Pass on this week, I was hoping for gradius or space invaders.
I would've DL mm3, if i didn't already have it on the GC megaman anniversery collection. Hopefully next week is more my style.
Neither seem to be of my liking this week. I might get Mega Man 3 though.
"I remember seeing a PEGI Rating about a game called Yummy Yummy. Thought there was a mistake. Seems i was wrong"
@ Terranigma: There was a PEGI rating, look at post 11.
Nothin' in the Wiiware section either, eh? Guss this just ain't my week.
The only avatars I've changed is Wiiloveit and SuperMario in kidding around
Yeah, I found it hilarious.
Well... actually... I did kinda find the Hello Kitty one amusing. And I'm getting quite attached to it already. In fact, I'm keeping it... until someone mistakes me for a girl.
@Clayfrd: Nobody messes with Corbie. And... wait a second... that didn't used to be your avatar...
@Wiiloveit - Alright darling, do ya come 'ere often?
@WiiLoveit - I made my avatar a Pikmin, not Corbie . My avatar has been changed without my consent before (from one Mario avatar to a similar but better looking avatar, it didn't bother me). I'm probably gonna change my avatar back to Luigi one of these days, but I kind of like the Pikmin...
@Dazza - Nice.
@all-
The mystery of the disappearing comments continues! I had one removed at VCR (unless I'm mistaken). Why does this keep happening to me ?!?!
