Re: Podcast: NLFM Episode 6: Epic

Machu

Epic selection! Downloading now. Thanks!

edit: Tell ya what, The Great Mountain Marches is epic in-game, but listening to it REALLY loud whilst hyped on coffee is something else. And then... Mario in Space! Weeeeeh! Untitled

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th May 2010 (Europe)

Machu

@Gavin: I could indeed, but I'm old fashioned and stuck in my ways. If everybody bought online there would be no game stores at all, and I like cheesing about, perusing the 2nd-hand games and looking for bargains.

Re: Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment Nowhere to Be Seen in UK Charts

Machu

I think you can blame Monster Hunter Tri for Sin & Punishments bad sales, as everybody (myself included) is still playing that. Personally, whilst I know I'll get a few good plays out of S&P2, I'm waiting til it lowers closer to £20. I hate paying full whack for a game that'll only last the length of two movies.

As for why MHT didn't sell well I don't know, I thought it had. There were adverts on the telly, Nintendo Channel got pwned, and those massive 'They're Coming' billboards were in cities (I saw a few in Manchester, they looked cool). Oh well, hopefully it'll have long legs.

Re: La Mulana Developers Discuss Religious and Rating Issues

Machu

She looks good either way.

I'm not one for censorship, but if a lil bit of boob increases the age-rating and therefore reduce sales, I'd just wrap 'em up. Maybe have an optional 'artistic mode' unlocked when you pwn the game, one the classification people will never see.

As for virgins sacrificing themselves to the fail-pit, erm...

Re: Nintendo Hardware Sees Significant Sales Slump in UK

Machu

Like Gavin I have no sympathy, an economic crisis hits and they raised the price, ridiculous. Anyway, sales were gonna slow down eventually what with saturation and the drop in price for rival consoles. A 360 Elite is only £40 more ffs. I do wish Nintendo weren't quite so greedy sometimes. They should drop the price closer to it's production value and rely on the profit from all the quality software that is due this year and next.

Re: Podcast: Episode 15 - This Nintendo Life

Machu

Woah, I nearly missed this, it was hiding under a news-fest. Gonna listen now.

edit: Oh yes, really good hearing you jabber on about MHTri dude. It's special, it really is, so much so it should be a 10. Enjoyed the new feature too!

Re: Monster Hunter 3 a Roaring Sales Success in UK

Machu

Cool beans Fox. One question, did the demo put you off?

I'm getting the feeling the US demo was a bad representation of the game (throwing you in against a beastie instead of starting with the basics). Perhaps the reason it has sold so well over here, is because there was no demo? Just a thought.

Re: Monster Hunter 3 a Roaring Sales Success in UK

Machu

I don't understand Fox, why is it a shame that this game has people excited? Surely any 'hardcore' game with online play, selling well on Wii, is a good thing. It at least shows the market we have been told isn't there, most definitely is.

Re: Monster Hunter 3 a Roaring Sales Success in UK

Machu

lolmonster love it!

I also love Monster Hunter Tri, deeply, even though it's obviously for kids and should be in HD. I hope it pwns I really do, and shows 3rd parties the kind of money they could have been making if they had taken the console seriously.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 to Offer More Authenticity to Your Game

Machu

@TrevorTheChan: Yes, and with those awkward putts you could just pull out the chipper and have unlimited practice shots (unlike the single putt preview) until you were guaranteed to sink it. This was abused online, so much so you had to use it to stay in touch with opponents/leaders. For online play with my friends we had a 'no-chipping on the green' rule and just had to trust each other. A very minor detail I'll admit, but one that eventually became a game-breaker.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 to Offer More Authenticity to Your Game

Machu

First thing they need to do is fix the 'chipping issue'. That ruined the game once you realised it was there. Apart from that game-breaker, TW10 was nearly perfect.

I was hoping for balance-board support in TW11, for the complete golfing sim. Hmm.

also, drunken angry wife mode à la south park would rock! ;D

Re: Nintendo's Room Migration Kit Makes it Even Easier to Move a Wii

Machu

Tehe, glad I'm not the only one. I bought a 2nd sensor bar & a whole new set of cables after the Wii was launched, because I got tired of unraveling chaos everytime I took it to a friends. Now everyone has a Wii, those cables are in the bedroom for when the Wii and I retire. Laziness convenience ftw!

The inclusion of a composite lead makes this pretty useless though, they could have at least put a scart in there. Tsk
