I played so much street fighter 2 and mortal kombat when they released back in the day on my sega Genesis that I never bought another fighting game until tekken released. Loved tekken on the psone and tekken tag on the p2 but after those I was burnt out with the fighting game genre. I did buy injustice and enjoyed it but street fighter 2 and mortal kombat were the only entries I ever cared about. Id be more interested in capcom porting devil may cry, resident evil, and other ports from the 6th generation but I will admit that I would rather have street fighter 2 than a newer version on switch.
I'm probably the only person who would love to see third parties port some hd remastered 6th gen games to switch instead of third party ps4 X1 ports.Over the past year Ive been consumed by nostalgia.
Ive almost finished my platinum in horizon and have collected 586 koror seeds, completed 82 shrines and 3 divine beasts in botw. Both games are the best of this generation and possibly the best games of the last 10 years. Horizon has the best elements of the best current and last gen gameswhile botw is more of a pickup and play puzzle game in an open world that never gets tedious. Its really hard to say which game is better because they both are masterpieces. I'm sick of open world games and shooters but these two games have kept me interested and reinvigorated my love of gaming. Saying botw is better doesn't mean that horizon zero dawn isn't A masterpiece, but I believe botw is the better overall game. At the end of the day, both games are must plays and have redefined gaming.
ive said all along that Nintendo kept gba and ds games off the 3ds for a reason and this rumor seems to indicate that we may get remasters of the most popular ds games and a few gba remasters.
The way the classic is packaged, I guarantee that most of the systems on eBay have been used. I'm just glad I was able to get one at launch. I think the controllers are more scarce because I ended up buying another classic just for an extra controller at my local Walmart back in January. I'm pretty sure these will be re released during the holidays. Can't understand why anyone would pay more than an og nes but nostalgia is a powerful drug.
I've said from the beginning that I expect Nintendo to rerelease these classic editions every holiday season. Everyone is expecting a snes classic but knowing Nintendo, their plan is to rerelease the same system. They were obviously caught off guard with classic demand and extended manufacturing until this month, possibly out of fear that people would boycott the switch over the situation. Even if we don't get a rerelease this year, I still believe more classics will be available in the future.
I still can't believe that botw didn't receive a limited edition switch bundle collectors edition that included the masters edition and more importantly a Zelda themed console, joycons and dock. It would have been awesome if the switch looked just like the sheikh slate.
I think we are close to capping the power of consoles. Unless games start using cgi type graphics or go head on into the realm of vr, the old allure of next gen graphical leaps is dead. Nintendo has actually played it safe all these years because they can still play the power card in the future, and they've waited so long that a powerful Nintendo console would be a huge hit. I personally believe that those of us whose been gaming since the 80s are at the age where a new nes, snes, sega, etc.., would be preferable. Imagine Nintendo rereleasing a modern snes that was actually supported. The price of retro games can be ridiculous and I think it's the right time for someone to create a modern snes that plays old and new carts. If popular we could see a reissue of a lot of the old classics. I also believe that a modern retro console would be as big of a hit as the Wii. Games like the Disney afternoon collection, nes classic and the vc seem to be testing those waters but the problem is that they may not appeal as much to modern gamers as they would to to the non gaming mainstream public that left the hobby during the psone/2 era. Those non gamers will never know that the Disney afternoon collection exists, but a new ad campaign focused on a new modern snes would likely pull the mainstream non gaming audience back to the medium. Nostalgia is a powerful drug and as the nes classic proved its now time for an 8/64 bit competitor.
Ballzillas right. I posted yesterday because my dock was bent and switch was curving at the same location on the bent dock. I sent my switch in last week and they replaced my dock. Got the replacement today and the new dock doesn't bend inwards at all. I'm now 99% sure that some docks are defective which is causing screen scratching and curved consoles. The dock I sent in for replacement was slightly bent inwards at the top. I advise anyone who is having screen scratching issues or notice their dock isn't completely straight to call Nintendo support. My new dock is perfect. Just wanted to let those experiencing the issue know that Nintendo support is aware of the issue and it only takes a week for a replacement, possibly less if you send it on Thursday or Friday.
I thought I was imaging my switch curving after 3-5 hours of use since launch but Nintendo support is aware of the problem because they are in the process of replacing my defective dock. Last week I called Nintendo support to get the joy con desync fix and I explained that my dock was bent and that after a few hours of gaming I would pull the switch out of the dock and notice the system curving in the same location that the dock was bent. After letting it cool it seemed to straighten out but I noticed the issue a few days after launch and kept my eyes on it. Nintendo told me to return the dock immediately because it's possible the system is swelling because of the lack of space between my dock and the switch caused by the bend in my dock. I'm 100 percent sure that if your dock is defective your system will curve. I'm also pretty sure that screen scratches are due to a defective dock and not a lack of padding because I had to apply a considerable amount of force to dock my system and if I hadn't had a screen protector since day one my switch would have been scratched because my screen protector is scratched in places. My point is that people should try the penny test and if the top of the dock holds the penny in place then you sure call support immediately or at least keep an eye on the system after every hour. I could clearly tell my dock was bent. If your dock is bent I also suggest leaving the plastic that covers the hdmi cables open because that may have saved my system in the long run.My switch is fine but I caught what was going a few days after release so I was very careful before receiving confirmation by Nintendo support a week ago. I should have my replacement today or tomarrow
I have it on pretty good authority that the next restock may be the last of the initial production run, meaning that most retailers aren't able to order anymore switches besides the units currently on the way. Regardless of nintendos verbatim, I think it's clear that they only prepared for a soft launch. I also believe that even though retailers can't order more at the moment, that Nintendo will probably be producing enough consoles to release during the splatoon 2 launch, so basically those who haven't gotten one yet, have about 3 weeks before an indefinite waiting period begins.
I'm really enjoying bomberman r. I've said many times, that I wish Switches third party support would focus on retro title sequels from the nes to Wii U. I wouldn't mind if third parties delivered 8-32 bit sequels or like bomberman revitalize those franchise keeping original gameplay while adding modern graphics. The price is high but the gameplay is worthwhile. There's actually more content than destiny and we all paid 60 bucks for Upon release. Even though destiny and bomberman are very different games both essentially have you completing the same objectives repetitively. In destiny your constantly shooting the same enemies on the same maps mindlessly, whereas bomberman your constantly running through puzzles dropping bombs. My point is that bomberman is a great addition to the series and I've paid more for triple a titles with less content in the past. Bomberman s definitely worth More than 1-2 switch. I also have a suspicion that if bomberman sells well, a 2d castlevania may become a reality.
I can understand paying 60 for triple a games but 50 for indies available on other consoles for cheaper prices will hurt those game sales on the switch. Most switch owners have other consoles and I'm sure most will purchase the cheaper version unless amiibo or collectibles are offered with the game which seems likely considering binding of isaac and a few other indies are already including stuff with the physical release. Price drops on any Nintendo product are rare and only occur when they are added to the Nintendo select line so thinking that a particular games price will eventually drop isn't happening. In most cases scalpers buy up all the stock and customers who waited end up paying scalpers more than the original high priced carts. I have a feeling bomberman is going to be rare in the long run Because it's a great game but not worth More than 20 bucks, most will avoid the title and physical copies will increase in value because low sales means stores won't stock the game leaving scalpers as the only option. My point is that waiting for any physical Nintendo products price to reduce is a bad idea because you will probably be paying more for it in the future, unless your purchasing digital. I ve learned the hard way many time. Haha
I really want this game but I can't justify paying full price for the game, mainly because it lacks a single player experience and it would only be used a few times a year when family and friends visit although the wife would probably enjoy the game until the novelty wore off. I'm not bothered by the decision to not include the game in a bundle but it would have been nice if we had the option to get the game on day one for half the price. Nintendo should have given us a day one option or promo of some sort that included the game. I'm still baffled that Nintendo didn't offer a botw collectors edition themed switch or joycons. I'd like to see 12 switch receive a price drop but we all know that won't happen unless sales were horrible, which is doubtful. Oh well. My backlog is approaching defcon 5 at the moment And it seems like Sony is finally delivering on the next gen promise this year not to mention arms, mk deluxe and splatoon 2 are coming in the next few months Too many high quality games are being released on the PS4 at the moment, which is why I m not bothered by a handful of Nintendo exclusives a year. Some see Nintendos small amount of releases every year as a negative but it allows us plenty of time to experience our games without rushing out to buy the flavor of the week if that makes sense.
Screen protectors are a must buy with the switch, but My local Walmart had no clue how to operate a midnight release. The three of us who had preorders were placed at a register that took 20 minutes for the cashier to arrive. Meanwhile, the thirty peopl who had no preorder was prioritized. They had 26 neons and 4 black switches. I wanted a neon but they said that preorders were in a box in the back that they couldn't locate and the serial numbers were tied to those preorders meaning that we couldn't switch them. One of the people who preordered worked in electronics but was off the clock and had to go in the back to find the preorders. Meanwhile, we were being ignored while the other cashier kept asking every customer in line to buy accessories And games. I spoke up and got one one of the last pro controllers. When they brought our preorders out, the cashier couldn't match the numbers up with our preorders and that is when the other cashier told her that those numbers didn't matter, meaning I could have gotten the neon but at that point everyone who didn't preorder were gone and the switches were sold out. The other family who had preordered had a neon on their receipt but they had sold out of the whole stock by that point, we were literally the last three to get our switches and had to watch thirty people buy up everything for an hour. The cashier who ignored us politely apologized but knew she screwed up because every switch they sold was a neon. They ignored us the entire time lost our preorders and sold old boys neon. I asked for the screen protector pack. Charger, and extra set of joycons and was told they had them but had no clue where they were in the back. The screen protector was a priority but my local Walmart was incompetent. I knew the docks design had a chance of scratching the panel and I was more careful then most people but it still got scratched which is why I believe the some docks may be defective.
This happened to me and I am extremely careful. Luckily, The scratches were minor enough to buff them out with the rag that came with the screen protector that I purchased immediately after noticing what was going on. I think the issue is that some docks contain a manufacturing deformity. I had two small scratches at the bottom of the panel where the switch connects. I'm thinking about contacting Nintendo for a replacement dock if the problem persists.
I got a classic 2 weeks after launch but could never find an extra controller. In January, I happened to walk in my local Walmart and they had 30 systems, but no controllers. I bit the bullet and bought another mini, only because of scalpers jacked up prices on 10 dollar controllers. My main point is that finding a classic is only half the battle because the controllers seem to be more rare.
Is it messed up that Gamecube vc is more important to me than odyssey or a new prime? I skipped the GameCube in favor of the ps2 and haven't been able to justify paying scalpers to experience the titles I missed. At this point, I believe Nintendo should have addressed this issue by remaking sunshine and luigis mansion. Would also love to get my hands on killer 7 and viewtiful joe. Nintendo should try to redefine 3rd party support and try to get them to port some of the GameCube and ps2 library to switch.
Switch lacking a metroid game at launch ruined the presentation for me. Arms didn't seem like anything to get excited about at 1st but admittedly I m slowly getting hyped for the game. If Nintendo put the same effort into arms that they did with splatoon, then There's no doubt that the game is going to be pretty good. I'm not a fighting game enthusiast but I am somewhat interested in arms. I've got a master addition preordered but I'm still wondering if I should go ahead and grab the Wii U version as well. I've wondered if the u version will take advantage of the gamepad, like twilight princess and windwaker. Some of the comments seem to indicate that Nintendo announced that the Wii U version wouldn't have gamepad support. Are both versions truly the same? Twilight princess was better on the GameCube and I'm wondering if the Wii U version of botw may be superior since it was designed for the u.
I don't know why anyone would think the switch would replace the 3ds. The dual screen offers too much potential for handheld gaming and sets it apart from every other portable device. Re: Poll: What Are Your Nintendo Switch Pre-Order and Launch Day Plans?
I just got a Wii U and 3ds 2 years ago and between the two systems, I'm currently sitting on a backlog of about 60 games. I have a switch and master edition of botw preordered but I may actually cancel my switch preorder and play botw on the u as initially intended. At the moment, the only incentive nintendo is giving early adopters is the free online service. Waiting to purchase a u and 3ds really paid off and is one of the best gaming related decisions I ever made because I avoided the dreaded gaming drought many people mentioned during the Wii U's lifespan. If the switch is successful, I could see Nintendo releasing limited edition botw, Mario, Pokémon, fire emblem, or metroid consoles which gives me even more incentive to hold off. I haven't been this hyped for a console since the psone released but at the moment I have more reasons to wait, and Nintendo isn't really giving me many reasons to upgrade.
