Re: Nintendo's Patent On 'Sub Characters' Could Have Some Dire Ramifications

LilMuku

Nintendo has genuinely become the Gene Simmons and Prince of the gaming world simultaneously.
Also are Nintendo forgetting about Digital Devil Story and Dragon Quest V? Dragon Quest V being VERY directly a game that inspired Pokemon in the first place? Like Pokemon started off as "what if we made DQV but we could give eachother stuff".

Surely you can't successfully own a patent/copyright for something that provably existed before your version of it? How can Nintendo legally own a mechanic that they only iterated on.

Re: Ubisoft Employee Explains Why Star Wars Outlaws Is A Game-Key Card

LilMuku

@electrolite77 Physical or Digital are the two valid options.
No collector wants key cards, no one that wants the convenience of digital wants key cards. Like, no one that cares about games wants them, they're anti-collector and anti-gamer, removing them doesn't "take away an option", it prevents a festering.

Re: "I Can't Afford To Give It Away For Free" - Silksong's Low Price Is Causing Devs To Re-Evaluate Their Own Games

LilMuku

I mean, I got Silksong to see what all the fuss has been about (I haven't found out yet) and its price is the main reason I got it day 1, if it was like £30 I would've waited for a sale or something.
Sadly a game being cheap subconsciously implies it isn't worth playing, and a good way to get out of that is quality games being cheaper.

I don't care about AAA devs in the slightest they SHOULD feel the pressure, but as someone that's actually into gaming and art, I feel for the indie devs that might not be able to afford to price match.
The solution is being transparent about why the game costs that much, I mean honestly should be normalized, AND it'll encourage players to expect honesty from devs, which will further shake up the greedy AAA slop factories.

Basically, indies should encourage expectations that'll threaten the big guys, be punk rock about it.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From Nintendo For Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary

LilMuku

All the discourse around this is so depressing
Fans are there thinking one or two old as hell games would be a good thing.
The og All Stars was remakes of the SMB1-3 with the first western release of SMB2.
For the 40th, they should just remake 64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2 in Odyssey's engine and release them in a pack and separately.
All they did for the 25th was put the All Stars rom on a Wii disc, and 35 just bash 3 roms together on a product that cost 3x what it was worth and thought that was actually something, as well as preying on FOMO to boot.
Remake collection and Mario Maker 3 would be great.

Re: Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack Won't Offer Switch Upgrade Path Or Save Data Transfer

LilMuku

I'm not too far into Ryza 1 (yeah, barely just got into it) but I liked it enough to get the other two AND the DLC

If the company don't have the decency and brain functionality to do a save transfer and upgrade path, players that already own the trilogy should get this for free, ESPECIALLY since they have to start again.
The og games being so overpriced and microtransaction heavy was already a dirty scam, THIS is just downright scum behaviour and I feel so sorry for the series' hardcore fans.
Vote with your wallets, I hope every fan bullies the company into releasing an upgrade path and allowing save transferring.

Re: Review: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition - Still The Bob-omb 10 Years On

LilMuku

Oh man, I bought this and played it just now
And I know It's already an old game but why are the button inputs so unresponsive, and who on the dev team decided that checkpoints shouldn't be a thing? I know It's based on arcade games of the 80's and 90's but the reason those games didn't save was because they couldn't.
Idk, making it intentionally inconvenient like ancient games seems like a weird stylistic choice that can only be appreciated by 50 year olds who experienced arcade fighters at the time

Re: Same-Gender Marriage Will Apparently Be Available In Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town

LilMuku

Yes! You can run away and live with your best friend like the Ladies Of Llangollen did

On a serious note I've genuinely never one thing be both progressive AND erasure, that's actually impressive. But hey at least I'm finally being represented in more games, bringing the grand total of game characters I can relate to to 3 (Ghirahim from Skyward Sword and Bernadetta from Fire Emblem Three Houses being the other two)

Re: There Were Over 2 Billion Tweets About Gaming In 2020, Most Of It For Animal Crossing

LilMuku

@Roto13 By "get better taste" do you mean, "enjoy the games I enjoy"? because that's rather arrogant
As it happens I bought most of the bigger releases, and I've been enjoying them at my own pace. Paper Mario and Hyrule Warriors were fun, I still go on Animal Crossing daily.
But, our opinions aren't a factor here. There's a severe lack in first party games on the Switch, that's just a fact. Spin-offs don't really count, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon didn't count as 2015's Pokemon game, it was just a spin-off.
What you're saying is, a lineup's strength is determined by your opinion specifically, which is just insane. I've enjoyed most of 2020's games, but 2020 was objectively a weak year, just like 2018 and 2019 before it.

But sure, feel free to think that ports and spin-offs make a strong release schedule.

Re: There Were Over 2 Billion Tweets About Gaming In 2020, Most Of It For Animal Crossing

LilMuku

@Nemesis666 Alright well your use of slurs have shown me that your value as a life form is even lower than that of what you'd find floating in your average sewer but, I'll let you become a valid specimen in your own time
I'll still entertain you however since It's obvious you misunderstood my post entirely. The Mario re-releases in question are Mario 35 and 3D All Stars. Yes It's in new packaging, but Mario 35 is just another way of playing Super Mario Bros, granted It's still more inventive and new than 3D All Stars, which is just three super old games that realistically should be on the Virtual Console but sadly the Switch has yet to reach even the Wii's standard.
And I agree, the board game thing is wonderful, I enjoy it a ton. But, I also enjoy Pokemon Cafe Mix, and I wouldn't name that as one of the reasons a console was great any given year.
My opinion has nothing to do with it, I'm talking about the fact that we're at a stage where people are saying the Switch had a great 2020 because of games that, if were released on Wii, would be barely worth mentioning.

Now, and I can't ask this kindly enough, don't ever interact with me ever again. This conversation is over, and I really don't feel ok interacting with someone who thinks slurs are ok to use. Ableism isn't cool.

Re: There Were Over 2 Billion Tweets About Gaming In 2020, Most Of It For Animal Crossing

LilMuku

@SM3DASislit Remake, board game collection, spin-off, overpriced and incomplete collection of extremely old games, temporary online arcade game, spin-off of a spin-off, and a high quality spin-off

Look, if you're trying to make the case that 2020 was a good year for Nintendo and your evidence is two Mario re-releases and a board game collection, you shouldn't be making that argument
That's like saying 2015 was good for Nintendo because of Pokemon Shuffle and Badge Arcade

Re: Nintendo Switch Sold More Than Every Other Console Combined Last Year In The UK

LilMuku

@AndyC_MK84 The fact that you said "to hell with features" ruins your argument

I'm not talking about what I personally would use, I'm talking about the fact that the Wii and Wii U had lots of other apps and features for people to use if they want. Having optional extras is objectively better than not having the stuff there.
People who don't want those features can simply not use them, but people that do want those features are missing out.
I think about people in general, not just myself.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sold More Than Every Other Console Combined Last Year In The UK

LilMuku

@BenAV Wii U: First party exclusives, ports, a few remakes, internet browser, camera and mic, streaming apps, basic home menu customisation

Switch: A few first party exclusives, Wii U ports used to avoid making new games, mostly ports and remasters, Youtube

The ONLY case you could make for the Switch being better than the Wii U is if you dislike the idea of consoles having lots of optional features for people, and prefer the idea of a library filled with old games

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Demo Is Out Now On Switch, And It Includes Online Co-Op Play

LilMuku

It's 2021 and Capcom still have no idea how to improve animation speeds
Also I've played many real time battle based games before but, I don't think I've ever died while drinking a potion not only because of how long it takes for that to happen, but the fact that menus don't pause the game

Is it just me? Like do I have to REALLY get stuck in to MH to be ok with all that? Or are these things that MH players also recognise as a problem

I can JUST about get past the sluggish player movement speeds, I know a lot of games that assume that moving as a fast pace is something that nobody wants, but idk, the attack animations that miss half the time because by the time you hit the monster it's moved, the menus that you can't open while in battle because you'll keep getting hurt while navigating, the erratic button mapping causing you to be inputting tons of commands while in battle

Is it just me that just can't get past these issues?
And before you bring up my profile picture, yes I do hate SwSh's 00's graphics and animation speeds.
