Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Needs More Characters Like Paper Mario's Vivian

LegendOfStewart

This is a minor thing but is Vivian actually the strongest party member in the game? Vivian is my favorite to use in battle, but I think Admiral Bobbery is actually the strongest.

Also - sorry - but I don’t know how you can include this line at the beginning of the article but then start deleting comments that voice dissenting opinions: “Soapbox features enable our individual writers and contributors to voice their opinions on hot topics and random stuff they've been chewing over.” If you want to actually have a discussion on this subject, you can’t just shut people off who don’t agree.

Re: Moving Out, The Next Couch Co-op Game From Team 17, Relocates To Switch In April

LegendOfStewart

Really, really hoping for a physical release. Also, Team 17 is one of the unsung heroes of games this generation. The amount of great budget titles that have been published under their umbrella over the last few years, specifically on Switch, is pretty incredible. Both Yooka-Laylee games, My Time at Portia, Yoku's Island Express, the Overcooked series, Blasphemous, and the Escapists all came out under the Team 17 name.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Is Your Video Game Collection Really Worth To You?

LegendOfStewart

I own around 500 physical games. I started seriously collecting a couple years ago pretty much from scratch after graduating college. While I have way more money invested in my collection than my wife would ever want, I don't buy or sell games because I expect to turn a profit one day. Likewise, I don't buy games I have never played or don't plan on playing. Almost every game I own has some sort of story to it, whether it be personal or one that I feel is significant to the platform, genre, industry, developer/publisher, etc. I like to think of my game room as a sort of library that contains all sorts of information on the video game industry. I would never want to sell my collection. But at the same time, life happens and finances change, and that could cause me to have to change my stance. I had to sell off my small collection to finish funding my last year of college. I hope that day doesn't come again because, not to sound overly dramatic, but my collection is a big part of who I am and tells a sort of broad story about myself.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

LegendOfStewart

For me, it depends. If it's a massive RPG, nine times out of ten, I'll make the sacrifice and buy it on the Switch. But other genres and, more specifically, games that I know have a major disparity in visual fidelity between the Switch and my PS4, the sacrifice for portability just isn't worth it for me. And it's not just because of visuals, but also because I absolutely detest the joy-cons and find it very uncomfortable to use the Switch in handheld for more than a couple hours at a time.

Re: Two Point Hospital Has Been Delayed On Switch And Other Platforms

LegendOfStewart

@EasyDaRon Not necessarily. I think it depends on the genre, developer, publisher, etc. If a game gets delayed by a major third party developer or publisher, the game isn't going to lose customers because they will spend the money to advertise the game to make sure people remain interested. Although not from a major third party, with the case of Two Point in terms of genre, a simulator, they hit a certain portion of the gaming world that will play it no matter what. People who are into simulators play every simulator they can get their hands on. The same goes for RPG fans, FPS fans, etc. At the same time, your ordinary person isn't necessarily interested in a simulator, not like RPGs, FPSs, etc. Only certain types of gamers are into games like this, so those who are interested will still probably buy the game regardless of the delay. People who were only remotely interested or not interested at all probably won't buy it regardless of a delay.

Re: The Witcher 3 On Switch Runs At 540p Portable, 720p Docked

LegendOfStewart

@PorllM I'm fully aware that a standard PS4 can't display 4k. But we're splitting hairs discussing checkerboarding. Checkerboarding on PS4pro and XBOX One X is near equivalent to 4k.

@BeefSanta absolutely not. I'd rather not have the game on Switch at all than have a significantly inferior version of the game for full price. I bought the complete edition for PS4 for $15. If they released the game for $30-$40, I would probably change my tune. But I'm sick of getting significantly inferior ports. I expect a visual downgrade, but not cutting the resolution in half.

Re: Hardware Review: Retro Fighters Brawler64 Controller - A Crowdfunded Upgrade To Your Battered Original?

LegendOfStewart

I bought the revised version of the Brawler64 a few months ago and absolutely love it. Very surprised by the criticism of the analogue stick – it's literally my favorite part of the controller. The d-pad is where my criticism lies. It feels mushy to me. Overall though, I love the controller and I haven't used my original N64 controllers since I bought a Brawler64.

Re: Feature: Games To Play After You've Finished Zelda: Breath of the Wild

LegendOfStewart

"Nintendo obviously took note from Bethesda’s fifth entry in the Elder Scrolls series when creating its latest iteration of Hyrule." Lol that's a bit of an understatement. I love Breath of the Wild and spent 90 hours playing it, but it's seriously just a six years later Nintendo version of Skyrim, a game I've sunk 500+ hours into over the years.
