Re: Nintendo Updates Its User Agreement To Crack Down On Emulation

Leej07

Y'all can say whatever you want, but the vast majority of Switch hackers are pirates, too, and you won't convince me otherwise.

I don't care what the non-pirates do, but you guys really should police yourselves better, because the thieves stealing modern games that can still be easily bought online or in store are tarnishing the reputation of the ENTIRE hacking/modding community.

Re: Rumour: Switch Virtual Console Was Apparently Nintendo's "Original Plan"

Leej07

@PipeGuy64Bit Not necessarily.
Nintendo had been losing money on VC on every console after the Wii.
The Wii U makes sense, but even on the 3DS, which sold over 70 million systems, the amount of people actually buying the VC games were a TINY minority of the userbase.
Myself, I bought almost every single VC release on both consoles, but I'm very much an outlier in that regard.

Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Leej07

So, I don't buy that the content of Mother 3 is the problem here.
The two Famicom Detective Club remakes got localized two years ago and I can assure y'all those two games have CONSIDERABLE mature themes, up to and including a visual depiction of a dead body hanging from a noose.
It's pretty obvious Nintendo doesn't care about "mature themes" any more, and I can assure y'all the Magypsies are nowhere near as mature as the stuff in the Famicom Detective Club games.
Neither is the 'shroom trip, for that matter.

Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch

Leej07

@_fatto_katto_ The only example of a game getting an official English localization decades later I can think of is "Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana," but that's not first party, it's from Square-Enix.

EDIT: Well, there were the two "Famicom Detective Club" remakes from a couple years back, too, but those weren't the original FDS games.

Re: Nintendo Removing Credit Card Support From 3DS And Wii U eShop In Japan

Leej07

I'm not apologizing for anything, I'm just noting that this is not part of them shutting the shops down yet.
It also doesn't even affect North America, so it's essentially a moot point over there.
The Wii Shop stayed online for over 7 years after the Wii was discontinued, so we already have precedent of them keeping a digital storefront active long after a system is discontinued.

Re: Feature: Every Dragon Quest Game Ranked

Leej07

Dragon Quest is my all-time favorite JRPG series, even over Final Fantasy, and this list is so much yes.

XI is a GORGEOUS game, and may well be the best of the series, with V a VERY close second.
Magnificent series, not a bad game in the lot.

Re: Best SNES / Super Nintendo RPGs

Leej07

Reading these comments I can see a lot of people here actually didn't read the list, or have no idea that Final Fantasy III IS Final Fantasy VI.

I thought that was pretty common knowledge, but apparently not.

Re: Feature: After Fire Emblem And Famicom Detective Club, What Comes Next From Nintendo's Vault?

Leej07

Oh, I've got a lot.
I'd love to see Devil World get its first official release in NA on the NES Online app. Mysterious Murasame Castle would be great there, too.
StarTropics 3 would be great.
Can't forget Mother 3, either.
The BS Zelda games would be a fine fit on the SNES Online app.
Famicom Wars translated into English.
Mole Mania should make a comeback, too.
With the NA release of Famicom Detective Club, this opens the doors to several other Disk System exclusive adventure games. I know there's one based on Journey To the West that could be a fun play.
I would have said Virtual Boy, too, but that ship sailed, I'm afraid. The 3DS VC was perfect for it, but Nintendo obviously disagreed, and I don't see how they could work on Switch.
EDIT: Yes, Golden Sun 4 would be amazing, too.

Re: Nintendo Wins $2 Million In Lawsuit Against Switch Piracy Hack Store

Leej07

I can't believe I have to spell this out again, but here we go:
Pirating BOTW or Splatoon 2 or any other currently available modern game is definitely stealing and wrong. Don't do it.
Pirating ROMs of 30 year old NES games that haven't been re-released in 30 years, and never will be re-released, and cost hundreds of dollars on eBay, (or The Thousand-Year Door, because damn, that game is getting crazy expensive) while technically still "stealing" quite literally does not matter and you should not care, so stop being the morality police about it.
Get a life.

Re: Nintendo Currently Has "No Plans" To End Online Services For The 3DS

Leej07

@Mountain_Man I miss the Streetpass relays Nintendo used to have set up at places like Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, and McDonald's.
Going to anyone of those places with my 3DS used to be exciting because I knew I'd be guaranteed at least 10 Streetpass hits in one go, some from halfway around the world. It was magical.

Re: Feature: Keeping It Physical In A Digital Age

Leej07

I buy physical whenever I can.
However, I also base my purchases on size considerations. The larger a game file is, the more likely I am to buy it physically. I only have so much space on my Switch's SD card, so I try to maximize what space I have by only buying smaller games digitally.
All that said, I much prefer a shelf lined with physical games. It looks so nice.

Re: Nintendo Has Removed Pikmin 3 From The Wii U eShop Ahead Of The Switch Release

Leej07

@Ventilator Hey man, I'll take a look at those.
Sorry I came across as snippy in my previous reply. I'd got a few other people saying I'd had chances to get DLC before, and I was feeling a bit annoyed at the time.
But yeah, I've been really enjoying the Wii U. Very good purchase, and it's a pretty great system, which is why it sucks so much that it failed as badly as it did.

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

Leej07

A lot of doom and gloom in here.
Are y'all forgetting the Wii Shop was online for 13 YEARS?
These Limited eshops were just for code redemption and downloads. Nothing at all like the regular eshop. I doubt they had very many customers. This makes sense from a business standpoint.
As an aside, I read somewhere that the same servers hosting the Switch eshop also hosts those of the Wii U and 3DS, so I have a feeling all three will stay online for the same length of time.
