Also the early Grand Theft Auto games being on Switch (regardless of how they run).
Switch also got some slightly more recent games such as Skyrim, Wolfenstein, and of course; games like Cuphead, The Witcher, Doom, etc. It truly allowed Nintendo's fan base to have access to a plethora of franchises we'd never thought would be on a Nintendo system. Long live the Switch.
If you're not a big Mario fan, then the rest of the announcements were mild. They're just pending the late life cycle Mario Party game that the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS had, in order to start phasing out the Switch. Remakes, remasters, old ports... They're the standard nowadays. Unless it's F-Zero GX or the Xenosaga trilogy, I don't care about remakes/remasters.
@RetroGames This is the most pretentious comment I've ever read on this site. Everything okay at home? Are you getting enough validation and attention?
Man, Animal Crossing is on it's way to sell 6 million by years end. Freaking insane! Years ago when Monster Hunter was doing 3-4 million in Japan, that was the ceiling for physical games... And here's a more expensive game, on an ever more expensive console selling almost 2 million copies more.
Is this a Europe centric list or you're just missing some titles? I mean, there were about more WWE games besides Smackdown vs RAW 2008. Also missing Naruto Shippuden Clash Of Ninja Revolution 3, which is the epitome of the series and the most fun a Naruto game will ever be. The Clash Of Ninja series did those games RIGHT.
Ugh, way to make me feel old. I was just a child when the Wii came out. I wanted one badly, but couldn't afford it because I had already purchased a computer. By the time I finally got one, the library was HUGE, and experimenting the motion controls for the first time, really changed the way I perceived gaming. I still have some Wii games in my backlog, time to play my little console again.
Vote for Fragile Dreams, Final Fantasy The Crystal Bearers, Tales Of Symphonia, Arc Rise Fantasia, Excitebots, and Castlevania Judgment guys!
@Timsworld2 They're lazy all over the place tbh. Western studios make little to no effort to publish their own games in Japan or Asia. Vice versa, Japanese publishers play hot potato with the rights to publish and distribute games in Europe (especially AA or smaller titles).
@Timsworld2 We got Smash back in August 2014 here in the Americas, yet they claim it was out a month before the Wii U release. This site already panders too much to European readers, yet there's a reason why Europe doesn't get as many releases (let alone physical) as the Japanese or Americans...
Girl, Sun and Moon are awful, what do you mean "best Pokemon games ever"?
Annoying storyline, hand holding, annoying characters who stop you from moving every time you take 10 steps, pandering to Gen 1 fans due to Pokemon GO, lack of gyms, too much dialogue that says nothing besides "we live in the island with the island Kahuna who rules over this island, where we all live in. The island!".
Shut up, go find your smoke ball yourself, and let me explore the areas/catch Pokemon!!
I mean, Ubisoft did release the latest Just Dance game for Wii. One of the local Target has it in stock and on the shelve right along the Switch version, while the Wii U version was nowhere to be found. Wii games are still selling for a plethora of reasons, same as Xbox 360 and the now dying 3DS. It's just a matter of stocking them, not unlike older DVD releases that can be found in bargain bins and people pick up from impulse and the cheap price.
I've bought multiple used and new consoles from eBay, not a single issue. The only time that I had a problem, is that one console probably got messed up during the shipping process, as it wasn't reading discs once I plugged it in. The seller immediately gave me a full refund and told me to keep the items though, even after I offered to return the console.
Just gotta be smart and RESEARCH the seller if possible, avoid buying from Chinese or "Japanese" sellers too.
L.A Noire is $9.99 in some U.S stores right now, and Mario & Rabbits is only $20 as well.
3DS though! Radiant Historia, SMT, and Stella Glow all at 50% off, throwback to when ATLUS would have their games at 50% next to every week. I'm picking up Stella Glow for sure, to make some company to Pokemon Ultra Moon. Was hoping for a Monster Hunter Stories deal though
I picked up Soon Shine yesterday, reminded me of Solrock and Lunatone. Also seems like a game I could just play for bits of time in the gamepad only with headphones on.
I'll get the Wii U version anyways, but i'm kind of disappointed with this. While the Wii U version will be the best (like if it was even a contest), can't help but cringe just to think that the 3DS version will have a 4-6 month advantage and might even get a bundle during the holidays, just making the Wii U edition "even more pointless" to buy for some gamers.
@electrolite77 But why do you still read news on a Nintendo site then?
Almost every comment that i've seen from you, has whining on it. If you're so unhappy with your Nintendo systems, why do you still have them? Do you just like to bash Nintendo because they don't give Australians the same treatment as they do with the 10x more valuable markets?
Anyways, I don't care about AC, so this is no big issue to me.
I just hope we get some decent games this year, the whole indie-friendly-eshop drama not only gets boring with indie games or developers that ask gamers for money, but they still delay games and bring next to nothing spectacular to the eshop. Lucky me, there's still a few Wii U games that I'd like to get and some Wii games I really want to play. But it is frustrating to see such a few releases confirmed.
Hello Kitty Kruisers will save the Wii U! Insert sarcasm here
@midnafanboy They won't release it on May 28th or 30th... It's "delayed" until further notice. But like I always thought, they backed up from GTA5 and they're doing the same with Mario Kart 8, they know what's good for them.
I don't why, but after this whole delay thing, I had a feeling that this game was going to be released on the last week of May, probably even May the 30th...
Another reason to believe Ubisoft knows pretty well what Mario Kart 8 will do... Which is outsell every other Wii U game to date and make the install base grow, which means more consoles sold and better chances at higher sales.
@XCWarrior No offense to anybody, but the poll is focused on american developers, most of them just make shovelware games, most of the good games on 3DS were made by japanese developers....
To be honest, I don't care too much about American developed games. I mostly play RPG games and most of them (if not all) are japanese. Same goes for my Racing/Fighting games.
Hey, but we're getting Spiderman, Hobbit, and Hello Kitty in the upcoming months!!
LOL.
Anyways, I'm not sure how I feel about this "drought", since I've been playing Wii games mostly lately. My next purchase will probably be a Wii game since i'm not really interested in the current Wii U catalog, some exceptions aside. And honestly, I don't think one more copy sold will do any difference with the third parties.
At the same time, its kind of sad to see how poorly Wii U is being supported. Aside from the multiplat-everyone must get titles/movie tie in- games, there's not anything coming to Wii U at retail...
Lets get ready for the overselfhype and wait to see the breakdowns and meltdowns after everyone was expecting F-Zero, Metroid and Star Fox for Wii U even thought they already knew it was not happening and now are complaining about Nintendo's "crappy" Direct!!
Lets be honest here.... The main reason they delayed this game last year was because of GTA5, period.
Now, only the former "almost ready" version of them all has been delayed, why?
Main reason again (call me fanboy or dumb, but you know its true) is because this game will be released on May or pretty close to... Mario Kart 8's release. That's it. They know these "AAA" games have no chance against Nintendo's "AAA" games. Mario Kart 8 IS a force to be reckoned, the Wii U install base may not be the highest, but you gotta be sure that at least 75% of that userbase will purchase Mario Kart 8.
So once again, they are doing what's good for their business. I'm not interested in this game at all, but is nice that its still coming to Wii U.
Well they annouced they'll be releasing 7 games on Wii U this year, more than any other console besides PS3 with 7 games as well.
They'll release more stuff, I don't know why people are concerned about SEGA "Backstabing" Nintendo, SEGA has been there since the Gamecube's day ONE, they were there for Wii's DAY ONE and once again they were there for Wii U's DAY ONE. I don't think the trend will change.
When an AKB48 album that's priced below the standard for music cds, sold less than a million copies in its first week, that's when you know the economy's bad in Japan.
Why are most people reacting in this way: "So nothing in March and April?"
Firts of all, i'm pretty sure most of those people are not even buying DKCTF, second...There's actually more games out there, not only the first party ones. Why not give it a chance to the third party offerings that are way cheaper now than what they were before? Why do you guys have to wait for Nintendo to release a game every single month (bi weekly if it was up to you) just to "dust off" a console, when there's a catalog of games out there for the WII U, there's the E-Shop, Virtual Console and Backwards compatibility as well!!
Sometimes I just wonder if most of these so called gamers actually think before typing.
Its always so amusing to see all the marketing, analystic, retail experts whenever there's a "Wii U need this..".
You guys really are funny, "A $100 price drop, bundle it with 2 games, and i'll buy it". Why are you even here? To comment with your irrelevant opinion of how the professionals and the actual people in charge should do their jobs?
Because you're all always right and know more that Iwata himself.
I really don't understand why people are getting raged about this, yes.. the awards are not for the "casual" market, DK fits that "casual" market, even though the last DKC was not casual at all...
We have to be realistic, THIS game is the only high profile game coming to Wii U from the rest of this year, next year's January and February, what else is going to be released on Wii U in that time gap? Nothing.
They need to promote their OWN games, DKTF is the only high profile Nintendo game coming soon to the Wii U. They had an opportunity to promote their biggest upcoming game, teasing X, Bayonetta or other game that has NO launch day and those games are probably going to be delayed, would not be the smart move, why would they hype a game that we may not see until the second half of 2014?
The chance to get attention for the Wii U was now, and DKTF was the only realistic choice.
@Zael I love the fact that Xbone and PS4 seem to be the only next gen consoles, they're CURRENT GEN TOGETHER WITH 3DS, VITA AND YES WII U.
People need to realize that the UK is Xbox territory, as well a Fifa and Cod territory, that's what they buy over there. So as Japan is Nintendo territory and buy Pokemon, Monster Hunter etc. No sourprise, Xbone will not sell that much in Japan. Simple.
@8thGenConsoles - I agree with you, i've been reading the comments, and that user is being a dbag.
Anyways, I can't predict the future, I care about sales, because high sales mostly mean more games, but Wii's librabry had tons of shovelware and crappy games. So more games is not equal to quality games.
I'm not worried about the Wii U, I DO hope it gets to sell pretty well. I'm actually worried about Xbox One, when something starts the wrong way... It ends even worst, and the Xbox one got more hate than Nintendo's consoles combined, Microsoft even had to change tons of features that were going to be in the console, that's how bad it was for them... Wii U atleast had a good launch lineup, high expectations, some source of third party support etc...
@PinkSpider - Pink Spaidah, nuh... Need for Speed was just published by EA, Criterion did the whole job, so it sucks for Criterion, because they made an effort to improve the game (which they did), but EA just blows. They've been called America's worst company, it is not "just because", they do tons of stupid things and their games are mostly just past entries with an updated roster and DAS IT!
They need to flop hard for them to actually care about their products.
Wow, who wouldn't be proud of these kind of sales?
1 day to sell 1 million copies, 135% up in 3DS sales after the release, and even more awesome things. Pokemon really has incredible drawing power, can't complain about it, the games are awesome.
Well these kind of games sell better in the Americas... Same goes for Wii Party U, so there's no surprise they'll seemly bundle it with a Remote to attract buyers. Hopefully it'll do well, I'd like to see more from Nintendo/SEGA in the future.
@kokirii Yes, there's people online 24 hours a day... You get the idea, there's always people online to play with! And even better, now we can play with gamers from other continents, which is awesome. Hopefully one day we'll be able to play with our fellow japanese and korean hunters.
I love this game, this might be my favorite game ever, while I LOVED Tri to death, this entry took everything that I loved and somehow improved it, added tons of new content and a smoother online experience, not going to lie... I love my Wii U, I knew I wanted one since it was revealed, but the main reason I bought it was because of this epic game.
I only got to play the DS version of the first entry in the series, wanted to try a Wii version but never could. So I kind of was looking forward to this, but makes sense that I don't now, since I mostly play alone and this is a "multiplayer game".
Still, looks like it could be fun even in single player, and if its coming bunddled with a Remote Plus like some people are saying, that I might give it chance.

They need to flop hard for them to actually care about their products.
Re: Nintendo Infographic Shows Off Phenomenal Pokémon X & Y Sales Records
Wow, who wouldn't be proud of these kind of sales?
1 day to sell 1 million copies, 135% up in 3DS sales after the release, and even more awesome things. Pokemon really has incredible drawing power, can't complain about it, the games are awesome.
Re: Long Awaited YouTube Application Coming To 3DS Later This Month
Ummmm IDK, the Wii U's YouTube app is everything but actually worth it. I just rather watch videos on the Internet Brower.
Re: Marth Confirmed as the Latest Challenger in Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS
He looks so... Feminine... Still, pretty cool. He's been one of my favorite characters since Melee and he's back for the new entry!
Re: Wii Party U and Wii Fit U Deliver Major Increase to Wii U Hardware Sales in Japan
@PvtOttobot
Kalm Yo' Tits, its just a week. Lets see if there's a trend after this or the sales go down again.
Re: Review: Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (Wii U)
@electrolite77
Well these kind of games sell better in the Americas... Same goes for Wii Party U, so there's no surprise they'll seemly bundle it with a Remote to attract buyers. Hopefully it'll do well, I'd like to see more from Nintendo/SEGA in the future.
BTW: Ryota Hayami!
Re: Castlevania Judgment
I like it, its probably the last gameI bought for Wii. Got it cheap and brand new on amazon!
I play with the Gamecube controller, since I believe its STUPID to waggle in fighting games, not my thing. Aeon rocks!
Re: Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U)
@kokirii Yes, there's people online 24 hours a day... You get the idea, there's always people online to play with! And even better, now we can play with gamers from other continents, which is awesome. Hopefully one day we'll be able to play with our fellow japanese and korean hunters.
I love this game, this might be my favorite game ever, while I LOVED Tri to death, this entry took everything that I loved and somehow improved it, added tons of new content and a smoother online experience, not going to lie... I love my Wii U, I knew I wanted one since it was revealed, but the main reason I bought it was because of this epic game.
Re: Review: Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (Wii U)
Idk how I feel about this review...
