It would have been cool if that map's layout was dynamic, meaning the icebergs are always different. They could move around during the battle as well, and if a torpedo hits them they break apart. The battlefield always changing would be interesting strategically.
Plus they changed up the spawn points, making maps like Hot Springs more fun. Before, staying put and playing defense was smarter on that map. Now, you could be spawned on either side of the wall.
The new map is interesting, too. It's a medium-sized map full of icebergs.
@iphys It is. The kids on Miiverse are all annoyed and saying Nintendo has "lost them as a customer" because they have to use play coins. Of course, they haven't paid for the game at all yet, so using the word "customer" is pretty funny.
I love the update. The play coins thing minimizes team killing immensely because most of the TKers were people who hadn't invested in the game and were using the free version. In fact, I haven't been fired upon by a teammate yet, and that's saying something. I'd say once every four or five matches some free sub user would see my level and take a few shots at me. It made the game nearly unplayable.
All fixed now! I can go to Matched Skills (win streaks count there with the update) and every sub in there is a premium user level 40+. Every battle is difficult and fun now. My win/loss ratio is going to take a major hit, but it's worth it because many matches were decided in the lobby simply based on who had more new players on their team.
@WYLD-WOO What's your name in the game? I assume you mostly play Regional?
I second everything @Noonch said. Making friendly fire damage your own sub would instantly remove the team-killing issue. Also, removing the Level 99 cap would be nice. And of course, friend matches/communities. Such a no-brainer addition.
I can only hope the update was delayed to add some of the suggestions people gave after the initial update announcement was made.
The eshop had some slight aesthetic differences (font size, additional text reading that a game is available for download) after I updated. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Got a -19, which lands me in the Top 20. I really need to improve my putting. A nice feature is seeing the ghosts of members of your friend'a list. You are a monster, @Spoony_Tech
@Emblem pretty much summed it up well. They never should have left out the 3DS owners to begin with--the audience that supports them the most and who were originally told this game was for.
I've used that diplomatic phrase myself when talking to my students.
Nearly Illiterate Student: "So if I take after-school tutoring with you for the next week you think I'll be able to pass my reading proficiency next week?"
Well this is another example of why reading the review actually works! If you read the review, you can tell that for some this game will be quite enjoyable. The reviewer states that he doesn't like Battleship, but then says everything presented is serviceable. If you like Battleship, then this game is likely for you. If you don't like the game, like the reviewer, then there's nothing in the game that will change your mind.
@Obito_Tennyson Disconnections don't ruin win streaks. They fixed that with the first update nearly two months ago. Only losing or intentionally disconnecting (turning off wireless) does.
@Pete-Trax Yo Pete! Excited for the May update? I'm hoping for some better subs than the Walrus to reward the high level, premium players.
It's sad how many people are hung up on the "pending score" thing. After reading this very thorough and well-written review, I already know what I need to know. Any number at the end is just gravy.
Antipole was a pretty good platformer, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Here's to hoping the majority of the time developing this game went into level design rather than graphics...
Shouldn't have abandoned the platform that housed their strongest supporters (and sales) to begin with. Complete mishandling of the situation, unfortunately. It's too bad because I'm a fan and have supported every game they've released on the 3DS eShop. 3DS should have remained in the plans the entire time.
@Barbiegurl777 "If people on here can talk about the video games I play then it should be equal opportunity for me to talk about other games as well. It work's both way's not one sided."
I'm glad this just went on sale on the eShop. It gave me a reason to look up this review and read it again. Funny stuff.

All right. Got 3 sets of races in, but unfortunately I have stuff to do. I'll leave while on top on the group standings (which will hold up for about 30 more seconds).
