Re: Legendary Adventure Title Myst Receives Permanent Price Cut On 3DS eShop

Klimbatize

It started at $30 late last year, so it's dropped 83% of it's original price. I may get it because I've never even played the game and right now I basically only play on handhelds. Plus you get 30 CN coins

There a few other retail games that have seen huge price cuts on the eShop. That American Mensa Society game went from $30 to $4. It's actually decent at that price, and again, you get full CN coins from it (30).

Re: Hands On: StreetPass Plaza's Downloadable Content

Klimbatize

Thanks for the rundown. The Garden one seems virtually pointless, but I'll wind up getting it when it comes to NA because the other three look interesting enough and I'll just buy the pack. I get a decent number of StreetPass hits so I could see myself having fun with these. Battle looks the best, though it looks to have limitations.

Re: Review: Mighty Switch Force! 2 (3DS eShop)

Klimbatize

Not sure why people seem so confused about the score. Reading the review, it's made pretty clear why the game nets a lower score than the original even though the game is so similar. The first one had the challenge of trying to figure out specific puzzles. If nearly identical puzzles are included in the sequel, that takes away the challenge, mystery, and "ah ha!" moments from the original. I could definitely see that costing the game a couple of rating points.

If the game had unique puzzles in each level, I'm sure it would have earned a higher score.

Really good review, hashing out whether it's worth a pick up. Based on what I'm reading here, I'm still going to get it because I loved the speed running aspect of the first game. It's disappointing that they don't seem to the use the water mechanic to its full potential, but I loved the first one and I love portable platformers so I think it'll be worth the $6.

Re: Super Mario 3D World Coming To Wii U This December

Klimbatize

Haha, based on the amount of bashing Super Mario 3D Land gets from users on this site (overrated! unoriginal! too easy!) this announcement is going to whip them into a frenzy. Especially since there was all this speculation of a Super Mario Universe or something. Oh man, can't wait to read the negative reaction.

Meanwhile, this is the exact type of easily-accessible game to attract more casuals (the majority of people who buy consoles and video games) to pick up a Wii U. It worked for the 3DS two Decembers ago with the release of 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. It may work again.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is my favorite. I just passed 200 hours on it, and I still have more I want to accomplish. My play time has slowed down, but it's a game I know I'll be picking up from time to time for the next few years.

Re: Review: Solomon's Key (Wii U eShop / NES)

Pyramids is like a baby version of Solomon's Key. I enjoyed it, but Pyramids isn't nearly as difficult as Solomon's Key.

Solomon's Key requires much more thought and skill. That's why I think it's the better game. I hope they release this on the 3DS eShop.

Re: Orion's Odyssey: A Pattern Blocks Adventure Reboots Kickstarter Campaign

I appreciate you pointing out different kickstarter campaigns. I don't frequent many video game-related sites, so I wouldn't be aware of any of them if not for this site.

It's also nice to hear that people are developing games for the Wii U and 3DS...not sure what the downside is. It's so easy to ignore the articles you have no interest in.

Re: Review: Mega Man (Wii U eShop / NES)

Klimbatize

I had never even played a Mega Man game until the first one was released on the 3DS VC a couple of months back. I know, I was such a deprived child! (and I don't do the emulation thing).

I say that because I see people saying even a 7 out of 10 is overrated for this game. It's not. I really enjoyed it, and that's without seeing it through the lens of nostalgia. I think it's a solid 8 game. It's a challenging platformer that gives you a sense of gaming accomplishment after beating it. After I finally beat it (without save states) I felt satisfied that I had conquered a fairly well-designed, difficult game.

From my Mega Man newb point of view, it's not overrated at all.

Re: Feature: Robust DLC Ensures That Fire Emblem: Awakening Just Keeps On Giving

Klimbatize

I love the game and have bought all the DLC. I do think the maps are a touch over-priced for the rewards you get out of them, but I've still enjoyed them all. I'm glad they've included how many turns it has taken you to beat the map--that adds replay value trying to beat it faster.

I do wish I could replay some of the in-game maps though, with enemies in their original places. I thought Reeking Box did that, but all it does is throw some Risen on a map.

Re: The Image Of Tharja In A Swimsuit Nintendo Of America Didn't Want You To See

Klimbatize

@Harrison_Peter "I don't agree that it's the 'what you don't see' that makes the NA image racier... as pointed out by people all over the web, it's the fact that it looks like a cape, as if someone is watching her undress and she's just realised."

And that's exactly what is happening. She's changing into a bathing suit when Anna walks in on here and then a conversation about Tharja's body commences.

I've played the DLC, and it's more funny than anything. The conversations are silly in a fun way.

I always find it hilarious that this country freaks out over a little skin or the f-bomb, but is perfectly fine allowing TV shows and games show heads getting ripped off and endless blood and killing. Aw well.

Re: Review: Color Commando (DSiWare)

Klimbatize

I'm glad to hear it came out well. From the video and description, it seemed like it was a fun twist on the genre, but I was waiting for a review to see if it played well. I'm definitely buying this when I get home. I love having puzzlers like this on my 3DS.

Excited to hear your next project will be on the 3DS, Hugo.
