As a huge Star Ocean fan myself, I will absolutely try to pre order the collector’s edition to show my support for the Star Ocean series!
I love the Star Ocean series so much. It would be great to see even more of them come to Switch 2! We have First Departure R and The Second Story R, both of which are fantastic! I would love to see Switch 2 ports of Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Star Ocean: The Divine Force as well! And of course, I hope one day we can see a modern remaster of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time as well!
I think the Star Ocean series as a whole is awesome and deserves a lot more love and attention. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I do feel like a lot of people who haven’t tried the games might really enjoy them if they did. I’ve loved all of them, personally. Well, the only one I didn’t absolutely love was Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. That one wasn’t quite as good as the others in my opinion, but it still definitely had a lot of enjoyable aspects to it and a lot to love too.
I definitely recommend the Star Ocean games to anyone interested! The Switch and Switch 2 currently have Star Ocean: First Departure R and Star Ocean: The Second Story R, both of which are really great.
I’m hoping maybe some other Star Ocean games can make their way to Switch 2 one day. It would be amazing to also see Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Star Ocean: The Divine Force on Switch 2. And I would absolutely love to see a modern remaster of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time on Switch 2 and other platforms.
In addition to fun real time combat, great characters, interesting Sci-fi lore, and Motoi Sakuraba’s amazing music, the Star Ocean games are also notable for their deep item creation and challenging post game content. So the Star Ocean games are definitely some that I highly recommend to anyone interested.
This is wonderful news to me! The Nintendo Switch itself has so many, many amazing games on it. Not just first party games, but also a really strong lineup of third party games support too.
I think Nintendo made the right move here, because leaving behind all those games would kind of mean starting all over again. Not to mention, it would be disappointing to me as a gamer with a huge library of games to not be able to carry over the games I currently have to the Switch’s successor.
Same here! As I’ve played through Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and especially Xenoblade Chronicles 3, my love for the franchise has also grown. I think it’s probably my favorite IP owned by Nintendo at this point.
I look forward to playing this definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles X next year. I originally played some of it on Wii U, but unfortunately never finished it. Now that I’ve gained a much better appreciation for the Xenoblade Chronicles series, I’m really looking forward to giving Xenoblade Chronicles X another go next year when it launches. 😁
That’s very true. I almost forgot about those. 😆 Nintendo Land was pretty fun imo. I unfortunately never did play Affordable Space Adventures, though. 😄
When you're hyped that Xenoblade Chronicles X is finally getting a Switch release but realize that the more Wii U games ported to Switch means the less relevant the Wii U will be in history books:
This is really neat! I love this addition of the Mii characters on people’s tickets! And it shows that the Mii is still relevant to Nintendo as well, which is a huge relief to me!
I’m excited to play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the first time. I’ve never played the GameCube version, but I’ve heard lots of good things about it. So, regardless of the frame rate, I’m excited to play it.
I will say as well, that whoever had the gall to seriously call the devs “lazy” just because it’s not running at 60fps seriously needs to have a little more respect for people. I can understand some light criticism or wondering why the game wouldn’t be running at a higher frame rate, but calling the devs “lazy” because of that is just plain disrespectful. The moment you disrespect the artists who worked so hard to make this game is the moment they really shouldn’t have to take your feedback seriously anymore.
It’s one thing to give constructive criticism, but whoever called the devs “lazy” is just the latest example of someone insulting the devs simply because they didn’t get their way, and that’s just immature and completely uncalled for. Seriously, I lose hope in humanity every time I see someone actually start insulting, attacking, and being disrespectful towards the devs just because they didn’t get what they wanted.
Constructive criticism is fine, but that is where the line is drawn. The moment you cross that line, you are going too far.
Seriously, I hope more people can learn to have at least a little more respect for others, because I’m really tired of people actually thinking it’s okay to be disrespectful towards anyone because a game, movie, or other piece of art isn’t up to par with exactly what they wanted.
Hopefully the successor to the Nintendo Switch will receive native ports of the Kingdom Hearts games.
While it’s debatable whether Square Enix should have put the resources into native ports for Switch in the first place (I personally think they should have done so, even if it meant sacrificing some visual quality) , I hope that the successor to the Switch can receive native ports.
Kingdom Hearts is a wonderful series as long as you have the right taste for it. It’s also a series that I feel a lot of older kids, teenagers, and adults who primarily play on Nintendo systems might really come to love, if only it were more easily accessible on Nintendo consoles. That’s why I hope the Switch’s successor can receive native ports of the games, because Kingdom Hearts is truly a magical series that also has a pretty great ongoing story as well in my opinion. It brings together the innocence and youthfulness of classic Disney and merges it very well with slightly more mature aspects found in the likes of Final Fantasy and Square Enix in general. It’s very kid friendly overall, but it’s definitely something adults can really get into as well.
I actually started playing the Kingdom Hearts games right after I graduated from high school, so I didn’t start the series until I was an adult myself. And today Kingdom Hearts is my favorite video game franchise of all time. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but with the right tastes, Kingdom Hearts absolutely is something I think a lot of people who primarily play on Nintendo platforms would really love too.
@LikelySatan Yes. I would be okay with an HD 2D remaster of Star Ocean 2. I would personally prefer the style of Second Evolution more, but if going HD 2D is what it takes for them to finally make Star Ocean 2 available on modern platforms in the west, then I would still be absolutely thrilled to see such an announcement. I’ll literally take what I can get at this point, lol.
And yeah, not all the Star Ocean games are everyone’s cup of tea, that’s for sure. I personally love pretty much all of them, but I respect that everyone has different tastes and preferences. Even though I personally love all the Star Ocean games, my favorite will always be Star Ocean 2.
The one game that I want most to be remastered from Square Enix is Star Ocean: Second Evolution. Japan already has a PS4 port of the game, but it’s the only Star Ocean game not ported to modern platforms in the west.
While I am incredibly thankful that we have so many Star Ocean games available on at least PS4 and PS5 (although I do wish more of them would also come to Switch and PC) I and many other longtime Star Ocean fans consider Star Ocean 2 to be among the very best in the series, if not the best (depending on who you ask).
I know Tri Ace developed Star Ocean: The Second Story on PS1, but Square Enix technically owns the Star Ocean IP. I would absolutely love to see Star Ocean 2 made available for Switch, PS4/PS5, and PC. Whether it’s just a straight up port of the already available Japanese version, or a brand new remaster in the same vein as Star Ocean: First Departure R, or even an HD 2D remaster of the game (although I would still like the game to be as close to the original game as possible if they did go with the HD 2D route), Star Ocean 2 in some form is the game I most want remastered for modern platforms.
I would personally love to see Square Enix finally announce a localization of the Japanese PS4 port of Star Ocean: Second Evolution for at least Nintendo Switch and PS4 (maybe more platforms if we’re really lucky). With the upcoming broadcast on Star Ocean: The Divine Force, I think now would be an excellent time to announce a remaster or port of arguably the best Star Ocean game of all time (in my opinion, at least). It’s nice that First Departure is on Switch and PS4. And it’s nice that all the Star Ocean games (except Second Evolution when we’re talking outside of Japan) are available on PS4 digitally. But I think now would be a really great time to announce a remaster or port of Second Evolution with the broadcast for The Divine Force coming so soon. I could easily see such a remaster announced at a Nintendo Direct.
Of course, this all may be wishful thinking. But I continue to hope.
I never did start playing this game, but after learning a little more about it and watching this trailer, the concept itself totally looks like my kind of thing, and it's sad that it's coming to an end! Of course, being a mobile gacha game, it wouldn't really be my favorite thing in that particular aspect. I'm usually not a fan of gacha games and I really don't usually like to pay any microtransactions. But if Nintendo decided to keep this IP going in the form of a full console game, I would totally buy and play it! Again, I haven't actually played Dragalia Lost, but the concept of the game and its story is something that I absolutely love the idea of. It might be wishful thinking, but I sincerely hope that Nintendo won't completely retire this IP, but instead make a new project out of it for Nintendo Switch (or maybe the system they decide to launch after the Nintnedo Switch). I would definitely buy a console game like that to give it a good try!
This is great! I hope we get user icons for Xenoblade Chronicles and/or Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters at some point. I would definitely use some of those as my Switch profile picture.
There a a variety of moments throughout the Kingdom Hearts series where I also felt really emotionally impacted by. I don’t really cry often during such moments in video games, but I do have equivalent reactions such as gasping, being on the edge of my seat, putting my hand on my heart with my mouth hanging open, etc. They’re certainly not perfect games, but they do have well written characters, an intriguing and unique story, and moments of inspiring beauty unlike anything else found in storytelling. I just love the entire series. I’m so glad that it’s finally coming to Nintendo Switch — even if it is only accessible through cloud based versions. It’s certainly better than nothing, and while I can understand people’s disappointment in them only being cloud versions, I still think a lot of people who own a Nintendo Switch and have a decent internet connection should be able to at the very least experience this amazing series, even with a few moments of possible lagging and framerate dips because it relies on internet. It’s totally worth giving a try, at the very least.
It will take some getting used to, that’s for sure. I’m sure that over time I’ll come to accept and even embrace the new logo. But, as with any company logo changes, for me personally, it will take some time getting used to. It’s not a bad logo or anything; it’s just kind of simpler and business-like than the previous one. I’ll miss the old logo, but like I said, I’ll probably come to accept this new logo over time.
There, I changed my profile picture. Hopefully this is more respectful. It fits my username better, and I don’t think it’ll disrespect the man who really has worked very hard to give us such a wonderful series of games. And I feel like Super Smash Bros Ultimate is his best effort yet too.
@Nego Thank you for being a light in all this darkness. Famous or not, Sakurai is a person like all of us and whether or not some people want to admit it, his feelings do matter. I think I will change my profile picture. I really do feel bad about it. Plus, it’s been my profile picture for far too long now anyways.
I would love to see Star Ocean games ported to more platforms. Plus, we’re still waiting on a port of arguably the best game in that series, Star Ocean: The Second Story (or Second Evolution, as the PSP remaster was called).
But alas, I don’t think this is what will be announced with this developer. I think it’ll probably be something else.
Everyone else: For the last time, Sora is NOT coming to Smash! Give it a rest already!
Me: I’ll just wait for a Mii fighter outfit then . . .
Everyone else: No. You listen to us. We’re not getting Kingdom Hearts content in Smash. At best the last DLC fighter will be a custom character that you can make into anything you want . . . except Sora.
Even though they said that the Kingdom Hearts games wouldn't be coming to Switch, part of me feels like there's still a possibility in the future. Square Enix probably sees that the Nintendo Switch is a very popular device (especially in Japan), so I could see it going either way, really. They'll either stay true to what they said and just bring other titles to Switch, or they might change their minds and actually put in the resources to effectively develop the entire Kingdom Hearts series for Nintendo Switch (even Kingdom Hearts III, despite it's more detailed graphics). If they did change their minds due to how popular the Switch is, I would love to replay all the Kingdom Hearts games on Switch. There have been several examples of games that, given the proper funding and resources, made it to Switch despite the odds (such as The Witcher III). I'm not saying they'll bring more Kingdom Hearts to Switch for sure, but part of me feels like there's still a possibility.
Another series of games that I think would be a great fit for the Switch are the remainder of the Star Ocean games. We have First Departure on Switch, which is fantastic in my opinion. It would be great to see Second Evolution, Till the End of Time, and maybe even The Last Hope come to Switch as well. Integrity and Faithlessness wasn't as good as the others, but I would still welcome a port of that on the Switch as well.
Outside of Square Enix properties, perhaps more Tales of games? That would also be very exciting to me. Maybe we could even see Code Vein make its way to Switch.
I know all this is just wishful thinking right now, but you never know. We could get more than a few surprises from third party publishers throughout the next few years.
Wow, that’s great that it’s coming to Switch after all! This was one of the games that made it tempting for me to pre order an Xbox Series S, but now that it’s on Switch I might not have to get an Xbox after all. I’m sure the Xbox Series X and S will be great consoles with plenty of great games, but with this news, I might end up just sticking with a Nintendo Switch and a PS5. Personally, that’s more than enough for me — especially now that both Ori games are on Switch.
I would love to play it on Switch . . . if it happens, that is. I know Microsoft needs their exclusives too, so whether or not it will come to Switch is unknown. You never know, though. There have been a lot of surprises in recent years.
I’m personally very excited for this! I loved the Theathrhythm Final Fantasy games, and this being a Kingdom Hearts version of that with better graphics and more story content is very exciting to me. I do hope that all the other Kingdom Hearts games will make their way to Switch eventually, but for now I have those on PS4.
I would love to see the entire Kingdom Hearts series on Nintendo Switch. I think it’s definitely a series that would feel at home on a Nintendo console, and doing so could possibly increase the size of the audience for the series. Kingdom Hearts III would be the most difficult to port to Switch, considering it’s upgraded graphics and such, but I think it would still be a doable and worthwhile investment for Square Enix. I know it’s not likely, but you never know. Maybe Square Enix will deliver another surprise. If not Switch, I could see them porting the series to PC, but it would still be nice to see the games on Switch if it ever happens.
I bought it anyways because I'm a huge Disney fan. Although I haven't even played it yet, LOL! Here's hoping better Disney games can come to Switch in the future. (I'm looking at you, Square Enix! We need Kingdom Hearts on Switch!)
I think I'll probably be getting this because I'm a fan of Disney. It looks pretty fun too. Now, if only all the Kingdom Hearts games could come to Switch as well. I know that's probably wishful thinking, but it would probably help grow the audience for the Kingdom Hearts series. For now, though, this looks like a fun little game.
The things people complain about on the internet has become absolutely ridiculous. Anyone with an open enough mind and just a little bit of optimism (I'm not talking about being overly optimistic by the way, just reasonably optimistic) can see that the Avengers Project by Square Enix is shaping up just fine. If you're complaining about the character models not looking like the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, or not looking the exact way you would prefer them to look, and that's the reason you think the game doesn't look good, then you are seriously blind and your expectations for things are unreasonably impossible to please. This is the same exact situation with Kingdom Hearts III. People are complaining about absolutely ridiculous things like "the ending was rushed" or "there wasn't enough character development for Roxas, Kairi, etc." Those complaints show how little those people actually pay attention to how Kingdom Hearts games are. Most Kingdom Hearts games in the series actually also have rushed endings that throw everything at you after you finish all the Disney worlds. And if you're expecting a super well written narrative with perfect character development you shouldn't be playing Kingdom Hearts period. Kingdom Hearts III was an excellent entry in the Kingdom hearts franchise, and most of the things people are complaining about when it comes to that game are completely ridiculous ideas and expectations that people have because they can't see past their own wild expectations. They can't just enjoy the things that ARE great about the game — which there are a ton of great things about it. I know Kingdom Hearts and the Avengers are two entirely different types of narratives in games, but it's the same ridiculous type of complaining. The Avengers project looks really good to me. I'm not saying you have to agree with me on that, but honestly when it comes to the things people complain about nowadays it's not just a matter of opinion anymore. A lot of the things people are complaining about nowadays when it comes to video games — and especially Square Enix video games for some reason — boil down to people failing to see the good in things and only focusing on little things they didn't like. That's not just about "I have my opinion and it's my opinion". That's actually just failing to be reasonably optimistic about good things. All it takes is being willing to see the good in things, and willing to have a more open mind, to see that things aren't so bad. In actuality, this is a great time to be a gamer. There's lots to enjoy about video games today, including the games by Square Enix — even if they aren't perfect.
I am so happy Octopath Traveler finally received an award! It is an excellent game that every JRPG lover who owns a Switch should give a try. The gameplay and music are both absolutely incredible. I also love how each story appears to be separate at first, but as the game progresses you realize there are subtle connections between them. I won't spoil anything, of course, but I will say (for those who don't know) that there is a certain unlockable something that ties each story together in a great way at the very end.

Everyone else: No. You listen to us. We’re not getting Kingdom Hearts content in Smash. At best the last DLC fighter will be a custom character that you can make into anything you want . . . except Sora.
Re: "Wide Variety" Of Third-Party Titles Planned For Switch Going Forward, Says Nintendo President
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter To Be Revealed Tomorrow, 1st October
Either Crash Bandicoot or Spyro would be amazing! But honestly, who knows at this point.
Sora would also be amazing, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.
Re: Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Launches On Switch Today
Wow, that’s great that it’s coming to Switch after all! This was one of the games that made it tempting for me to pre order an Xbox Series S, but now that it’s on Switch I might not have to get an Xbox after all. I’m sure the Xbox Series X and S will be great consoles with plenty of great games, but with this news, I might end up just sticking with a Nintendo Switch and a PS5. Personally, that’s more than enough for me — especially now that both Ori games are on Switch.
Re: Ori Dev Thinks It Would Be "Extremely Difficult" To Get The Sequel Running At 60fps On Switch
I would love to play it on Switch . . . if it happens, that is. I know Microsoft needs their exclusives too, so whether or not it will come to Switch is unknown. You never know, though. There have been a lot of surprises in recent years.
Re: Square Enix Officially Confirms Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory For The West
Re: Witcher 3 Port Specialist Thinks Devs Can Get More Out Of The Nintendo Switch
Re: Disney Tsum Tusm Festival - A Colourful Party Game That Isn't As Fun As It Looks
I bought it anyways because I'm a huge Disney fan. Although I haven't even played it yet, LOL! Here's hoping better Disney games can come to Switch in the future. (I'm looking at you, Square Enix! We need Kingdom Hearts on Switch!)
Re: Exclusive Versions Of "Beloved" IPs Are Coming To Nintendo Switch, Says Virtuos Boss
Here’s hoping for Kingdom Hearts on Switch! Some day. Maybe.
Re: Disney Tsum Tsum Festival Gets European Release Date, But No News On The Disney-Themed Switch
Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Gets A Cred Boost After Fans See Square's Effort
Re: Star Ocean: First Departure R Announced For Nintendo Switch
As a Star Ocean fan, this is the best news I’ve heard all day!
Re: Octopath Traveler Crowned Nintendo Game Of The Year At Golden Joystick Awards
