Re: Advance Wars Switch Dev Thanks Fans For Positive Reception, Calls Release A "Life Dream"

Kanaletto

@JohnnyMind Hey Johnny, thanks for the mention and reading my review. I have done the same, and I agree with all your points. From all the dissenting voices I gather the following and its proper solution:

  • The game is not better than the original: It doesn't have to, it doesn't pretend to be, is just another attempt to reach new players and please older ones, improving most things and not diminishing others
  • Bad online features: Similar to the previous point, there wasn't online in the original. So nothing lost, so to speak. True, they barely did the minimum, but it seems it was most they ran out of resources / time than saying "you know what, screw online features".
  • Partial voice acting or short cutscenes: really? what did they expect? A full length movie? I could even say it wasn't necessary. Many RPGs of 60 dollars barely talk or just mumble.
  • Which leads me to this point: with so much love and care to this faithful remake, how can you even say they were lazy and underperform?
Again, do not let your preconceptions get the best of you. This game is worth $60, day one, and you are missing a lot by not playing it. It doesn't replace the originals; is more Advance Wars. How can we go wrong with that?

@luckiernut yeah, I get what you mean. I also don't think Online is a deal breaker. Nintendo has always been on-the-couch party gaming, and I'm not eager to waste much time online just to see people disconnecting or just deliberately goofing around (refusing to surrender) because they will not take the loss. The original AW 1 and 2 where not online anyways, a missed opportunity, yes, but that means they polished the campaign to the max, and it shows.

For those wondering, here is my quick review: this remake has ugly 3d overview visuals, lengthy single player experience, bad online (1 vs 1 via friend request) good 3d combat animations, fantastic 2d designs, incredible soundtrack, superb gameplay, and a lot of love and respect for the series. They even included some songs of the super Famicom game, that tells you the level of commitment for this game. Do not doubt, this is a good remake, not perfect, but there is no wrong in buying this game day one. It stands by itself and would be a shame letting die this faithful remake.

Re: Nintendo Confirms its DLC Plans for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Well, I loved the concept, promoted the game with my friends, but this stupid censorship has to end. Not buying the game or the DLC. Nintendo will not see a dime from me, and if they blame the costumers for bad sales so be it. I prefer not to see butchered versions of the games here in america, I had enough with 4 Kids in my childhood.
