Re: Japanese Man Arrested For Selling Hacked Pokémon Sword And Shield Monsters

@KingMike Not if their worth was based on how well they could fight and I could just immediately pop another child into existence instantly that looks exactly like them while being better.

On one hand, Nintendo wants your Pokémon to feel personal. On the other hand, they ruin that by making them randomly inferior and expecting you to have the best when pitting them against other people.

Re: Japanese Man Arrested For Selling Hacked Pokémon Sword And Shield Monsters

@Anti-Matter Thing about that is, a modded Pokémon and a legit one, if done right, are basically identical. So it's really about them trying to save a ton of time.

People DO Mod Pokémon to cheat outrageously, naturally, but I think most hack to speed up the time you'd normally spend breeding for perfect stats and whatnot.

Personally, I also hold Gamefreak responsible for making things like IVs and junk since it's just adding extra steps for no real reason. It's very rare that you want a Pokémon that doesn't have max IVs and if everyone is doing it, may as well make it the standard.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

Kalmaro

@skullivan False.

I said that, if they made the claim that players could meet up and they couldn't, that would make them liars. I never said they made that claim and even asked if they did in my first post.

I then edited another post pointing out that they were very misleading in trekking prone they would not meet each other due to just how big the game was. It turns out, you couldn't meet each other because that wasn't allowed in game yet, not because of the he's size. That's very misleading and looks intentional to me, thus, I called them liars.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

Kalmaro

@Ghostchip If they said that two people could meet up, and players found out that was not true, then they lied. I don't see a way to get around that.

I'm not saying they are evil or anything, just liars.

Edit

I did more digging and I did find them saying how this game would be so big that you wouldn't bump into another person. Then players found out that the reason they couldn't see another person is because they literally would not let them see anyone else.

Hence, the videos showing people standing in the same location on their screens but it only showing one person.

That sounds like them embellishing with the intent to mislead gamers. Sounds like lying to me.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Become First Entries Since Gold And Silver To Surpass 20 Million Sales

Kalmaro

@HeadPirate We we want is for them to stop taking out features every game and lying to us about why the removed stuff.

A lot of the frustration and anger comes from the game being rushed out to meet a deadline to launch with the anime. This meant stuff got cut. Then they lied and said things were removed to give us better animations and models... Both which were proven false before the game even launched.

Then we were told they couldn't fit all the Pokémon in but we found data for the Pokémon already in the game.

Then they said that we would have to pay for Pokémon home to transfer Pokémon... But with no way of telling when we might even be able to use them since they won't tell us ahead of time which gme gets what.

Then they added Pokémon that they told us they couldn't do through DLC.

Why do we even have to pay the price of two games to get both versions of both games? It should just be one game with the DLC of the second game, so you're just paying a little more.

So no, it's not just that westerners are whining or whatever you were saying, people from all over were calling out Nintendo and game freak over being lazy. The fact that the game sold well doesn't mean anything about its quality. It could also just mean people overall just like the brand.

Re: What Exactly Is Going On With GameStop's Stock Prices?

Kalmaro

@KateGray you got the gist. This is just them driving up shares and taking a massive bet that the other investors they are betting against will keep buying shares and such.

In other words, both sides are playing chicken, with the companies betting reddit will stop first but reddit won't stop and the companies won't back down either.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Cloud Version Of Hitman 3 On Nintendo Switch?

Kalmaro

So much hate for cloud gaming, sheesh. Cloud gaming can and does work just fine if they have servers relatively close to you.

I think most people who do t like cloud gaming haven't really given it a chance. It's good stuff, though I haven't tried it on Switch yet, just on PC.

Depending on the cloud service, you can get inputs that are so responsive that you don't feel or notice any lag.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM Eternal On Switch

@WallyWest Again, I said just about any game, not all games. I already know some games are just optimosed so poorly that they would never work unless built from the ground up... Which could happen though I wouldn't hold my breath.

Still, I would say that most games people say the Switch couldn't handle actually are possible, it's just aatter of cutting the right things and scaling enough down so that the game still runs while still being enjoyable. It's definitely an art that not everyone is good at. Panic Button is exceptional when it comes to ports.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM Eternal On Switch

Kalmaro

@TheFrenchiestFry a that may very well be the case, that's all I have to go on for now though so I'm taking it.

It could very well be that it never comes over, though that seems less because the Switch can't handle it or lack of demand and more because of some deals Sony has with Microsoft.

It's not the first time their game would to PC. I'm still surprised we got Horizon Zero Dawn.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM Eternal On Switch

Kalmaro

@TheFrenchiestFry Of course it's up to the gamers. If the developers don't sense interest from the gamers, they aren't going to bother trying. That's why panic button is so important since they are helping to show that, yes, the Switch gamers have an interest in these games.

Obviously, the devs could just say they don't care. That just shows they aren't interested in making money though.

The question isn't really if something can get ported to Switch, it's more of a matter of can it be optimized in a state where the valuability of it outweighs the sacrifices needed to get on the hardware

That is up for the gamer to decide. Some, including myself, would argue that the viability of it does out weight the sacrifices made.

That and, I never said all games could come to the Switch. I said "just about".

Streaming is still an option but it still needs to be fine-tuned. Not all streaming services are equal.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM Eternal On Switch

Kalmaro

@nessisonett @TheFrenchiestFry z might just be your streaming service then. I played it streamed over shadow pc and didn't feel the lag at all. I don't have Playstation Now so I can't judge the difference.

Everyone says a game can't be ported to the Switch, until it is somehow. It's all about making the right sacrifices and knowing how to tone things down.

Will it be the best experience? Absolutely not, and no one exists it to be. The fact that it can be done and still look good is what's so impressive.
