Immortals Fenyx Rising is getting a new, limited-time event for all players, and this one makes a little bit more sense than that scary Adventure Time DLC from a month ago.
As a promotional tie-in with Blood of Zeus, a Netflix animation that's all about the son of Zeus fighting mythical monsters, Immortals will have a new event available from the 21st January to the 28th January, in which players can take on the Chimera and Cerberus himself (what would Zagreus say?!). Upon completing the quest, players will receive an Eagle pendant, and character customisation options based on the show. The quest, named "A Tribute To Family", will appear on the map once you have completed the quest "Gods and Monsters".
Alongside the DLC, there will also be a Blood of Zeus weapon pack, featuring new skins for your sword, axe, and bow, and a character pack, with armour, a helmet, wings, a mount, and a phoenix companion modelled after the show's Amazonian warrior, Alexia. The character pack costs 1500 credits (around £10) on the in-game store, and the weapon pack costs 810 credits (around £5). Both will be available to purchase even after the event is over.

Just waiting on the full game of the year or whatever they will call it to go on sale. The game looks good but way too pricey for everything included.
Ok ok ubisoft I will go dig out my cart.
Im enjoying it but find it is bulked out with 'skins'- so frustrating when hoping for new weapons/gear to get yet another "visual difference".
Think I'll complete main game and trade in, it was fun but very repetitive without the rewards sadly
Playing and luckily for me I much enjoy the in game costumes/armour than those on the store. The store ones are just garish glowing things
What a vile practice. The game isn’t bad but these micro transactions in this game are just disgusting
@popey1980 the microtransactions are purely cosmetic, you can play the full game without paying for any of them (if you don't look in the shop you don't know what your missing) and this additional quest gives you free loot on completion.
Temporary paid DLC?
@Bobb Indeed. Wtf is this *****, Ubisoft?
A pay for game with micros?
Thanks all you gamers that defend DLC and this crap. You are why our pastime is now filled with this trash.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Sure, but now I don't get the whole game.
Keep going down that road and soon they won't be just cosmetic. This will keep getting worse.
@StevenG people who buy these cosmetic microtransactions are what fund the free content like this quest.
You get the full game, it's just you don't get to put on the pretty transmogs without paying.
Cosmetics are fine y’all. It’s pay to win that’s bad. - This is no different than Fortnite.
£15 for utter crap!
@Bobb The temporary stuff is free! ...But it is basically an advert. The paid-for stuff is ALSO an advert, but not free. Yeah.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Until they come to paid DLC. Which you will then say is still ok and I still have the full game just not the add on.
I wonder if when it gets to pay for lootboxes to unlock levels you will finally notice.
@Quincy Fornite is trash. It is just a way to steal kids money and give them nothing in return.
It's just chuckie cheese for older kids.
@StevenG How about you tell us how you really feel. ...I think Fortnite is pretty great at what it is and what it does: Be effective entertainment. ...I've really enjoyed Immortals too.
Nice! Thanks for the heads up! I'm really enjoying this game.
@Kalmaro what you mean, it's been on sale the whole run lol and it's a full game, takes 50 to 60 hours to complete, and that's only the main story.
@StevenG there is already paid for DLC announced for immortals (as is the case with most Ubisoft games) and they generally add a massive new chunk of gameplay. The AC Odyssey season pass actually gave you 2 more games on top of the DLC. Even Nintendo games have payable DLC and microtransactions (amiibo) so it's not like it's just this game that does it.
If you don't want to pay they always go on sale and you can pick them up cheap, or you can always wait for the inevitable GotY edition that comes bundled with all content.
@JuanGartner There's still additional content you can get and it's still pricey to get everything.
Neat, but if they're going the timed event route of freemium service games, I sure hope they consider occasionally reprising these events, too. Knowing Ubisoft's relationship with sales, it's not like they don't expect more people to keep getting on board long beyond the tie-in's deadline.
Limited time stuff is dumb, I dont care if its just cosmetics. Hopefully they will re-release this stuff.
"The quest, named "A Tribute To Family"
Anybody else read that sentence and think we were getting Q-Tip and Phife skins? 🤷♀️
How far into the game does this unlock?
@Wilforce Quite early, I think Gods and Monsters is one of the first missions from what I can recall.
I haven't played this game as much as I'd like to, but I bet its microtransactionss are like AC:Odyssey. And if they are, I never ANY motivation to even think of them. This isn't like a F2P mobile game where microtransactions are pretty much forced on you. They're just there in this case.
Microtransactions are always bad, though. Won't deny it. But this is a full game without the micros.
I absolutely adore this game. I don’t bother with the micro transactions, as they’re merely cosmetic skins, but they don’t bother me either way.
I got the game for $10 at GameStop. At that price I feel it was worth it but honestly I’ve hardly liked anything about the game other than the banter between Zeus and Prometheus. It would be hard to recommend.
@Sourcecode I liked the banter, too, but most reviews specifically called it out as bad. I wonder if that's a cultural difference in humour?
The MTX in this game feel so forced and half baked like those consumables in Capcom games. There's "Get people to buy shiny skins and cosmetics to show off." and then there's "We did this because the execs said we had to. We're not thrilled about it either.". This is very much the latter.
It's a single player game that should take about 40-60 hours to 100% on a bind playthrough. A lot of the skins on offer have pieces that can be bought for free with currency you get from the daily/weekly "challenges" (running ones are actually tough though), don't really look much better than what is already in the base game, and often go up against actual stat upgrades. Crappy Neptune skin or shortcut to maxing out my stamina? Gee, I wonder what I'll spend this free currency on /s. At least with games like the Atelier series of Falcom's JRPGs, there's the appeal of having swimsuits or goofy costumes for the ones that are into that sort of thing. It feels like the video game equivalent of a tired store clerk half heartedly asking if you want the membership they already know you aren't interested in so their manager doesn't give them crap. I would say don't support that practice and let Ubisoft know that it's a waste of everyone's time. Is it really worth spending resources having this system put in place? Is there a goldmine of potential customers that they'll make tons of money off of when they get the game on a deep discount years later or "free" when it's on something like Game Pass?
@KateGray quite possible that is the case! 😆
Still stuck at the last boss 😭
Glad they keep making DLCs. As far pricing goes I'm playing on custom firmware so not concerned. 🙃
