As a parent I Love this article. My 6 year old this year keeps bringing home drawings of his superhero who "is like metroid but a boy" As a dad and video game fan, it makes me proud =)

Anyone truly shocked by this? We KNOW 3rd parties arent taking time to get to know the hardware =/

Its frustrating to watch Nintendo take these wobbly baby steps with their online components when this stuff was being done by others in 2006 for crying out loud

My issue with wii u is that unlike the other consoles the game types i'm wanting to play never had enough people. Like EVER. There were modes in BLOPS2 I never got to play because of the small number of players.

@rjejr yeah i agree, this is only Nintendo's proper go at the online playing field. They're a bit wobbly about thus far. Dunno if you're familiar with PS Plus but its a pretty impressive program.

If they want to reel in the original Wii Sports feeling, they need to reel back that price!

I prefer a packaged release personally. But I'm sure they'll charge $40 - $50 for it which won't fly

Ok, I do GET what he says. But, you have to be hip to the times and create a product that is slightly future proof. Not to mention a complete lack of advertising. I commend Nintendo's refusal to confirm and turn the industry into 3 identical consoles, in fact I love them for that. But they seem to out of touch with the public...

He's really lost the plot. You have to ADVERTISE! And a free trial isn't gonna make wii u fly off shelves ffs. Its a bit embarassing tbh =/

Outside of people on this website, Mario is not going to make Wii U fly off shelves. People want variety, they want GTA, AC, Skyrim, Borderlands, battlefield, etc and some Mario/DK but Wii U doesn't offer a wide enough variety for the masses.

@marnelljm true, there could have been improvements and my 6 year old has trouble reaching the Z buttons. I think the tablet is great jump to give something extra for gaming, but the system struggles to show anything to WOW the PS3/360 gamers

@marnelljm no way man. The tablet is what makes it unique. The lack of power, poor branding, bad advertising, and Wii name is what hurts it.

Wii was highly successful. BUT, by the end of it's cycle, people never played it. It was something that sat next to ps3 or an xbox360 collecting dust. (yes there were good games butnot that sold well to the masses) Nintendo trying to ride the Wii wave after it had already crashed was foolish.

$19.99 or less. Period.

We might as well accept that Wii U will NOT be a smash hit. I think we all know that here. The numbers will continue to be crap most likely for the remainder of the console's cycle.
(tho i don't care. I still quite enjoy my wii u)

I absolutely LOVE the Wii U and the gamepad. I can't imagine a future N console without it. No it can't and won't compete at a Wii level. Everyone knows this. But the gamepad is brilliant way to meld iphone generation with home console.

Honestly, i dont like them. My hand is cramped up just looking at it!

ANGRY RANT :i'm so F-ing sick of DLC announced before a game has even released AND sick of them neglecting Nintendo. It F-ing P-sses me off! Right fedup with most of the companies! Ea, activision, ubi, your mother, whoever! Im not a fanboy but im so annoyed and i really hope the ps4 and xbone end up being completely mediocre!

I've got my doubts on the perfomance and visuals =(

While I will admit Nintendo is outta touch sometimes,they are also pioneers who are constantly chasing fun and new ideas as opposed to being boring old money mongers like EA. Nintendo has class.

The issue here is how much they're charging for a game that most people played until they were sick of it on Wii. Now we're gonna have to pay more to play it again? Yes online, cool. Online is great, but big N should be throwing us a bone here!
