@KodyDawg Sorry, but they pretty much suck! Sure, I've found some real gems in the used sections, but it's extremely rare (99% of the time I won't trade in games I own). Considering eBay exists and is trustworthy, there are better deals to be had on both sides of buying and selling new and used video games. Oh, and they're the only 'crappy game store' left in the country.
Great news to read after a year-plus of doom and gloom (Nintendo will fold, etc, etc.)! But the ship's still carrying water, no time to get complacent; full octane - keep pushing games and innovation and a 3DS-like turnaround will come to fruition for my beloved U...
@Montegarde "so much of a cluster-you-know-what." Haha, well said! I guess they're trying to avoid the whole Star Wars conundrum of calling this game canon and that one not...only to backtrack and say nothing is sacred (...unless we say so). I actually agree with @MadAdam81; the Zelda "canon" seems somewhat farcical in that they all (major console iterations, that is) are basically the same recycled story with new incarnates of the same major characters.
I was one of the many that knew Pac was destined to be in the game (RIP: Yoshimitsu dreams...), and after watching the sizzle, I have to admit that they surprised me with a fairly formidable moveset. Like many of you, I'm hoping Snake makes it back into the fray, that would be the truest "miracle" in my book. Honestly though, there seems to be only about 5 new spots left when you consider C. Falcon, Falco, Ice Climbers, Ganondorf, Jiggly, Lucas, Ness, Meta Knight, Mr. G& W, ROB, Snake, Toon Link, Wario, and Wolf (not to mention the pokemon trainer outcasts/ a new grass evolution newcomer...) have yet to be announced/confirmed. You pretty much know which ones of these will be in the game (I count 11 from the aforementioned list), but man, space is at a premium now given that 50 fighters will probably be the max (...and I believe we're currently at 33, split characters and all). Going to pre-order it by the end of the month, anyway; though @FalconDensetsu, I think it'll be more like December 2nd or 9th here in NA, Tuesday's just the golden day...
Oh, and I will be buying into Amiibo. C'mon, December!!
My only "damn it, don't waste a reveal on this worthless character" moment of E3 today...and we that was AFTER I saw Woolly World. Oh well, ultimately a very, very good day!
@Several Smarties The car BS is pretty much a deal-breaker for me! Mario Party 2 is still the pinnacle in my book, and while the format had been getting stale of late, the everyone-together ruined something that was only tarnished. Where Mario Party Gold already?! That's...my idea of having one Mario Party with every mini-game, character, and board ever created all in one ill little package; we have the technology, we can rebuild it...
This game came out of nowhere (for me) and is probably the game I'm most excited for! I'm just hoping it will be both challenging and reasonably lengthy; I'd happily pay $60 retail for a 15+ hr. campaign with Zack & Wiki-caliber puzzles. Love how he pulls up turnips and coins, like a real 3D Mario Bros. 2...
Shovel Knight, to pile on. But Guacamelee and Shantae definitely have my attention. Even Affordable Space Adventures, which has a certain WALL-E atmosphere, has me curious (the part with the flares was HILARIOUS!).
@Scott123 & @TwilightV Thank you!! I was beginning to think that, with over 150 people, not one other person thought Darksiders II was at least worth #10, let alone an honorable mention. I have been playing that and only that since I got my U for Christmas (thanks, Santa wink) and am just finally finishing it! Now I am on to tackle some of the "true" Top 10s: 3D World, MK8, DK: Trop Freeze, Zelda: Wind Waker, and (the free) Pikmin 3. Considering everyone's comments, I may have to give Assassin's Creed IV, Mass Effect 3, and Deus Ex: D-Cut another look... Yes, despite the doom and gloom surrounding the U, this article has made me realize what an incredible library this fledgling system already has; Smash Bros., the very reason I will never not-own a Nintendo system, hasn't even come out yet! All that, plus this doesn't even include the burgeoning eShop content, which I believe to be one of the system's stronger features/offerings.
@AshFoxX Haha,good point! When "A Month of Smash" inevitably comes out, I will read each line like the New Testament, and call out little girls like Crimson_Ridley for their derisive comments...
@rjejr Interesting thoughts. On the converse side, however, it wouldn't surprise me if older gamers are somewhat turned off by the 3DS because it hurts there already aged, video-game traveled eyes. I am almost 30 (with 20/20 eyesight at that) and I hate the 3D slider and always, in stores, play with it off; when the 2DS was announced, with a cheaper price tag in tow, it was the first time I honestly considered buying the system (which has about 10 games I could easily buy "day one"). Your probably right about a future Smash bundle, which is a shame, because I would rather buy both separately than kill two birds with one stone, as it were...
@NodesforNoids Thanks for the info. While I don't exactly share you gloomy sentiments, it is unsettling that all these great games get announced...and then numerous delays become a haunting silence. I have faith that these (Tesla, Hyper, Pier, and about 8 others...) great games will eventually be released (then again, I can be hopelessly optimistic when it comes to Nintendo), even if it takes Mario Kart to champion them out of darkness. Perhaps E3 will shed some light on the Indie scene, otherwise, I'll keep with NLife for my U news.
Snake in Brawl was probably the biggest surprise I can think of. In the long-running Metroid debate, ultimately, I loved O:M, but that pales in comparison to my affinity for the Prime series. And while Super is considered the paramount in the canon, it isn't my favorite (then again, I played it for the first time four years ago, at age 25.) @Nintenjoe64: I agree the 'Cube era saw some harsh times, but I still believe it to hold the greatest catalog of Nintendo games, per system, to date...save for possibly the Super, but that's only because there were, like, 1,000 games for it (and the fact that I love RPGs).
@rjejr Yeah, $129.99 seems to be the logical move, but that's somewhat of a deal-breaker for me as, come Christmas, a similar Smash Bros. bundle will likely cost the same. I've had my fill of 2D Mario Bros. games over the past two years (and the comments about this one don't exactly ignite my excitement), so they'll have to bundle something special for me to finally make the leap...
@XXIV & @PvvtOttobot The over-sexualized breast jiggling was one of the perks to me, but then again, I don't have too many games where the goods are on display...
@Half-a-yous Sooooo glad this is coming to the U and not the 3DS! Man, Nintendo really got this one right...yes, yes, YESSS!! Can't wait to play this on the big screen, like it was intended; missed this classic when it came out years ago, but I won't miss it this time...especially because it's on the best current system, the WII U!
Well, I'm a pretty big Bomberman fan (Bomber 64 is in my top ten of all time...), but I had no idea Konami more or less killed it. Then again, I have to tend to agree with Chrono_Cross, as the newer iterations of the game have not had the story or puzzle elements of the aforementioned classic, and therefore, less fun. To me, a Bomberman title must bring more than (online) multiplayer "madness." That being said, I am pleasantly surprised by this game; it looks decent, and if its even remotely close to the very enjoyable Bomber '94 (and around the same coin, none of this $15 BS), I should be rightly satisfied. Oh, and they're definitely going to change the name if it releases in NA.
@CliveWinston Almost the exact thoughts I was thinking! For Better..! (sidenote: both Pro controllers have been an extreme boon to my gaming life over the past six years; have your cake and eat it too!)
Feel like a real "witch" for not kickstartin' this one, but it looks to have tremendous potential. Maybe not a Day One buy for me, but definitely on my own personal 'Watch List.'
Damn it! I swore I'd break down and grab one of these (never liked the 3D effects of the original..) if they dropped to $99...used. So, I guess I have no excuse now; hello, backlog super-surplus!
@rjejr So you're basically saying that the (i.e. your) argument is juvenile, and ultimately, pointless/stupid. So why bring it up in the first place? And if you don't like especial NLife articles, then why are you here? Are you one of those drunk locker room boys? @AlexSora89 Totally! When I saw this screenshot, I nearly forgot that the Dragoon was even an item, as it has been turned for my Brawl matches since Day One. So much nonsense for a one-hit kill...boo!
@Jazzer94 Agreed. Since Nintendo sometimes/always misses their advertisement opportunities for big games (as least here in NA), these small, hardcore tourneys could be a great way to drum up interest via word-of-mouth, youtube, and even Nintendo's Miiverse (or whatever the second screen of the U is all about). Kart and Smash are the staples right now and for arguably the next year, hopefully Nintendo can ride them through the storm!
Yeah to @all, rid the game of babies (except Peach, bias included, as for some reason I'd use her every once in a while) and have D-Bones, Para-troop, Koopatroop (or is he in the game.?), Hammer Bro, Boomer Bro, Bowser Jr., Funky Kong, Petey Piranha, King Boo, and all the other characters from (all) past Kart's that have been ditched or forgotten. Like the Star Wars article of weeks ago, I feel like they cheapen the Kart "canon" (if there even is one...) by adding certain people and then ditching them; case in point, Waluigi absent in MK7: what the F and why the F?! I demand consistency!
I'll wait for the U specific review of this game, and even then, it'll have to be under a 7 to keep me from buying it. This game looks very deep, original, and challenging, never mind Ubisoft's historical lack of direct support or Nintendo faithful's poor 3rd party support; I mean, how many people can say they bought the excellent BG&E new? And yes, the Wii U is the only current console I (will) own (Ah! THE PRIDE! Dark-Link73, ya woman...), so that will be the version I get.
@tanookisuit, Yes!!! The U deserves this franchise...big time, as nothing would please lifelong fans of the series like a slick, HD edition; and at the very least, your clever suggestion of that which, mostly, has not been played by Western gamers. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited for Mario Kart 8, but the second I first saw the anti-gravity addition to the game, I felt a deathblow being delivered to my beloved F-Zero franchise! People cry for Metroid, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, even Kid Icky on the U (of which, all but the second I'd gladly welcome), and luckily for you, those have a thousand times better chance than poor ol' F-Zero. Lastly, NLife, why use a picture of the nearly-impossible-to-unlock arcade characters and not talk about any of them?!? Surely that wasn't the only picture of GX you could scrounge up? That's a chop!
@TreonsRealm I love Star Wars, though not nearly the "fan" that thousands of others are (I've experienced movies, television, and games only...). But you pretty much summed up my growing feelings of the franchise; you can't just pick and choose what is "true" and what is spin-off! It cheapens the series and makes [Lucas] look like a fool, one who didn't have a grand plan and was just making stuff up along the way, then deciding in hindsight (blasphemous as a writer, IMO) what's part of the canon and what isn't! Then as fans, you're left feeling sort of stupid for following the stories and characters as closely as you do/did.
Wow! I usually don't like twinstick, space shooters, but I can already tell from the teaser that this game has potential with its characters and, confirmed, story mode. Even if the campaign only ends up being 10+ hours, it would be a great addition to my already varied lineup of games. Another downloadable Wii U game to add to my personal Watch List!
@Dreamz The only thing utterly ridiculous is the fact that you post an anti-Smash comment on a preview for the game. Who made you click on this article (or do you live under a bridge)? I'll make him/her go away if that will brighten your day; I can't stand bullies! Nice avatar, by the way, now that's something both of us CAN agree on...
Haha! Just when I hoped they bring something "new" to me to the GBA side of the VC, bam! they do it! I've always been curious with this series, and while the 3rd iteration right off the bat is puzzling (no one having an answer as to why 3 is 1st is vexing, still), I'll probably purchase it nonetheless.
@LetsGoRetro Whoa, whoa, whoa! When did they announce a sequel to Tickle the Squirrel?! I'm like 30 hours deep and I've just uncovered the evil Owl's secret plan! As far as innovation and originality goes, you really can't beat that game; I just hope the sequel isn't a simple rehash like so many P4 and XBone games are guilty of (Metal Division 5? Never heard of it, but it sounds weeeeaaak!). Man, a great time for the U indeed!
Child of Light at last!! NES Remix 2 looks intriguing too, but this week was a good one - take that, haters... And I am actually glad to see the end of the "first cycle" of GBA games, as I still own my SP w/ Mario & Luigi, Metroid Fusion, and Golden Sun...so here's hoping they release great games that I missed/ignored.
I personally love the idea of DLC because, as many of you pointed out, you ultimately decide whether or not to purchase it. Sure, it can feel like they're short-changing you on the 'full' game, but if you really like the content you're playing, well, then just fork over the cash and be done with it. Remember, unless your game breaks or is stolen, you get to enjoy the extra goodies for the rest of your days! You think you'll remember the +15$ you spent on extra courses and characters in 10 years, or how Nabbit's been your golfer ever since the 3DS version of Mario Golf? Nintendo, if you're listening (and you're not), I would be willing to pay upwards of $15 US for a single Smash Bros. DLC character...no matter how many you decided to churn out. I love that game and would have no problem throwing more money at the beast, Day One or Day Five Hundred; more content for games I like makes me happy, and I certainly wouldn't boycott a game because of it.
@A Lot of People New smash contender..? While I hope not (Yo-shi-mit-su!!!), it just seems too destined. The announcement of this game is not a guarantee by any means, but its a reminder, cueing my feeling of dread that this little yellow terd will take the coveted Bandai-Namco spot .
@JaxonH Agreed. Besides my greatly malnourished RPG feedings from Nintendo (Child of Light, I cannot wait!), I think the spread of genres on the U is appropriate thus far. The popularity of these sparing 2D games creates the perception that that's all Nintendo can and wants to do. It's a shame, but then again, I don't play videogames to feel accepted by my peers ( 90% of my gaming friends wouldn't be caught dead buying Nintendo, especially the U); I play what I want and say buck the rest! There are a ton of games slated for 2014 that I am very excited about (albeit digital, for the doom-gloomers), and if E3 can be the 2015 preview we all are hoping for, then I will be happy for years to come. And if not, well, at least I got my Smash!
@JaxonH Amen, brotha! We all want the U to work and succeed, but people have no patience, no faith these days. Maybe I'm not hardcore enough, but 10 or so (instant) classics a year, between retail and download, is enough for me...and yes, even now, the U is close to that mark. I agree with some that they're ignoring certain critical franchises (sigh F-Zero...) while crazily favoring others (2D Mario), but mad people complained about Other M (which I enjoyed, for one), the exact style of game many were calling for when OG Prime was announced! Execution aside, 'tis a balancing act, indeed, @Zombie_Barioth.
@Luke88 Haha, you fools! This is exactly my point (I don't like writing 'sarcasm' after my statements, though it does save a lot of confusion); any activity can be argued worthwhile; conversely, nothing matters and everything is a waste... Did you even see the part where I agreed with @KeiththeGeek's first post? Did you read his post? I don't judge anyone's passions as a waste of time, however, only about 10% of what we do daily is actually "meaningful." The perception of worth for the rest of our activities is grossly judged by those who come in contact with it. I do things all the time that are "a waste of time" (this reply, for instance), but just as I can admit that, so too can I argue that your BF Mikey's paintings are... Hortencio, poppin' off, son!!!!!!!!
@NintendoWisdom
Exactly my point! Anything can be argued as a waste of time, but when did I say competitive Smash Bros. playing was? Pop off like that again and you will be banned. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated — TBD
@KeithTheGeek Thank you!!! Everything not biologically fundamental to basic human survival is a waste of time...seriously. Saying otherwise makes you mad ignit. Also, here's a vote for Brawl > Melee (I like being able to air dodge multiple times...among other things). Finally, though I don't prefer it over the Cube controllers ('Bird, that is) like Caryslan, the Wii Classic Controller and Pro version are fine controllers to throw down with. And durable! The Wii U Pro? We shall see...
@LuigiTheGreenFire Nice av, bro! To the point, I think DLC will finally make its appearance in this iteration, and I believe that's where we'll get Snake, Mewtwo, Chrom, and...Tails (4 total, like Injustice)?

Like the Star Wars article of weeks ago, I feel like they cheapen the Kart "canon" (if there even is one...) by adding certain people and then ditching them; case in point, Waluigi absent in MK7: what the F and why the F?! I demand consistency!
Re: Ubisoft Now "Fully Focused" On Making The Wii U Version Of Watch_Dogs "The Best It Can Be"
I'll wait for the U specific review of this game, and even then, it'll have to be under a 7 to keep me from buying it.
Re: Feature: Let's Take A Look At The Crazy Supporting Cast Of The F-Zero Universe
Re: Lucasfilm Decrees That All Star Wars Video Games Are Non-Canon
@TreonsRealm
I love Star Wars, though not nearly the "fan" that thousands of others are (I've experienced movies, television, and games only...).
Re: Cosmochoria Confirmed for Wii U Release
Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Thirty Five
@Dreamz
The only thing utterly ridiculous is the fact that you post an anti-Smash comment on a preview for the game. Who made you click on this article (or do you live under a bridge)? I'll make him/her go away if that will brighten your day; I can't stand bullies! Nice avatar, by the way, now that's something both of us CAN agree on...
Re: Mega Man Battle Network 3 Headed to the Wii U Virtual Console
Re: Nintendo Confirms The Mario Kart 8 Premium Pack – Special Edition Wii U Hardware Bundle
@LetsGoRetro
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th April (North America)
Child of Light at last!! NES Remix 2 looks intriguing too, but this week was a good one - take that, haters... And I am actually glad to see the end of the "first cycle" of GBA games, as I still own my SP w/ Mario & Luigi, Metroid Fusion, and Golden Sun...so here's hoping they release great games that I missed/ignored.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Must Take Careful Steps Into Paid DLC and Free-to-Play
Re: Bandai Namco Announces Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 for Wii U and 3DS
@A Lot of People
New smash contender..? While I hope not (Yo-shi-mit-su!!!), it just seems too destined. The announcement of this game is not a guarantee by any means, but its a reminder, cueing my feeling of dread that this little yellow terd will take the coveted Bandai-Namco spot .
Re: Microsoft's Ken Lobb: Metroid Prime Wouldn't Have Been Made If Nintendo Had Listened To The Fans
@JaxonH
Agreed.
Re: Microsoft's Ken Lobb: Metroid Prime Wouldn't Have Been Made If Nintendo Had Listened To The Fans
@JaxonH
Amen, brotha!
Re: Ninterview: Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman on Mastering Super Smash Bros.
@Luke88
Haha, you fools!
Re: Ninterview: Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman on Mastering Super Smash Bros.
@NintendoWisdom
Exactly my point! Anything can be argued as a waste of time, but when did I say competitive Smash Bros. playing was?
Pop off like that again and you will be banned. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated — TBD
Re: Ninterview: Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman on Mastering Super Smash Bros.
@KeithTheGeek
Thank you!!!
Re: Feature: The Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Direct Round-Up
@LuigiTheGreenFire
Nice av, bro! To the point, I think DLC will finally make its appearance in this iteration, and I believe that's where we'll get Snake, Mewtwo, Chrom, and...Tails (4 total, like Injustice)?
