Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From Nintendo at E3 2014

Heiki

I was utterly disappointed by both Sony and M$. I'm not getting my hopes up for Nintendo either, but well... both conferences were all about Western stuff, so I'm expecting something else from Nintendo. I'm much more interested in Japanese games.

Heck, just give me a release date for X and I don't need anything else. I've read somewhere that it is going to be released this year in NA.

Re: Ubisoft Now "Fully Focused" On Making The Wii U Version Of Watch_Dogs "The Best It Can Be"

Heiki

I'm in no hurry to play Watch Dogs. Assuming they actually do a good job porting it to the Wii U, I'm still getting it. I guess that means the Wii U will probably have a nice line-up this year. Bayonetta, Mario Kart, Smash, the Zelda spin-off, Watch Dogs and whatever Nintendo has up their sleeves for E3.
Though Nintendo should focus on localizing X as soon as possible. I don't care if the game is not finished. They can start doing it right now.

Re: Review: Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)

Heiki

This is actually going to be my first Kirby game. Not a day one purchase, but certainly later this year. It looks good enough from all I have seen. It's no secret hat Nintendo has been milking their franchises since the NES era, though. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. In such a saturated market we have, it's difficult to call something truly "new".

Re: Next-Generation Visual Novel Nero Confirmed For Wii U eShop

Heiki

@faint @element187 It's not like I think indies can't make good games. I know they can and there's certainly an audience for that, it just isn't for me.
First, indies don't release physical copies of their games. I will ALWAYS get physical releases over digital ones, specially on Nintendo platforms. Because my wallet isn't bottomless, I rarely get a game that's digital only (I did get Hatsune Miku for my Vita, but that's just because I wanted to support the Western release).
And then, I have actually tried some, but no indie game has given me an immersive experience as of yet. In fact, only a few Western games, indies or not, catch my attention.
So, as I said, I do think indies can make good games, it's just not for me.

Re: Video: Check Out The Mario Kart 8 Visual Upgrade in This Retro Track Comparison

Heiki

This looks so good. I want it NOW.

Btw, of course graphics are important (otherwise we'd still be playing on the NES), but they aren't all there is to gaming.
I hadn't been into console gaming until just recently, so there are many great games I missed out. And I love playing older games if you ask me.
Not to mention handhelds... The 3DS and the Vita aren't even HD.

Re: Latest Assassin's Creed Announcement Continues Doubts Over Wii U Inclusion

Heiki

And yet there is no Direct coming. At this point we have only three confirmed retail games coming this year (MK, SSB and Bayo). I'm sure that they will be great and I'm glad I own a Wii U, but getting only 4 games a year on your system (including DK) isn't exactly what you would expect.

I hope Nintendo is ready to blow us away at E3.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th March (North America)

Heiki

Another week and again nothing that interests me. They have such a great chance to bring more VC games to fill the release gap on Wii U, but they just give us some random NES game no one wants. We've had only one direct this year, so Nintendo seems really laid back to me.
I don't really care about indies, and that seems to be the only thing that's been coming to eShop lately. Oh well, I guess that just means my money is going to Sony platforms for a while.

Re: The Next Batman Game Is Arkham Knight, And No, There Won't Be A Wii U Version

Heiki

I couldn't care less about Batman games anyway, but this is still a loss.
I love my Wii U and never get bored with it, but Nintendo should do something, really.
We have great games coming this year, like Mario Kart, Bayonetta and SSB, but that's about it. I don't think X is coming westside this year, so what else can we expect until then? I hope we have a Direct soon with HUGE announcements.

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

Heiki

@Knux They can't keep the Wii Shop Channel running forever either. Maybe it's still early, but they will shut it down sooner or later. Then Sony and MS will follow suit.
The only place I can actually buy digital games without this concern is on Steam, because I know Windows PCs aren't going anywhere, but that's not true for gaming consoles, is it? You can't expect a company to keep their servers running for 10-15 years on dated hardware.

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

Heiki

This is just to remind us that no online service can keep going forever.
That's exactly why I'll always have physical copies of my games. I see that many people here and elsewhere consider video games disposable... Well, I don't. I want to be able to play all the games I own for years to come.
It's not like I don't buy digital games, but given the choice I'll always prefer physical.

Re: Talking Point: The Watch_Dogs Wii U Delay Demonstrates That Major Third-Parties Are Walking Away

Heiki

Wii U was actually my first console. Then I got a PS3, a 3DS and a Vita latter on. You can't have only one console if you are looking for games... I mean, Wii U has awesome exclusives and some third-party support, PS3 has a huge third-party support from western AND Japanese developers, not to mention Sony's exclusives. 3DS has unique content from both Nintendo and third-parties, and Vita has a handful of JRPGs you can't find anywhere else.

So as long as Nintendo keeps making games for the Wii U, I have nothing to complain. Of course, having a larger Wii U install base would make things easier.

Re: Watch_Dogs Delayed Again on Wii U, Will Arrive on the System After Other Platforms

Heiki

I was slightly interested in this and would probably get it just because it was coming to Wii U. If it ends up being canceled, there's no way I'll get it on my PS3. I'd be better off picking up a couple of JRPGs for Sony platforms.
Speaking of which, I think the Wii U is lacking RPGs. At least we have X and the Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover coming.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on Satoru Iwata's Nintendo Strategies

Heiki

As long as Nintendo keeps doing great games, I don't mind what kind of approach they decide to make. If they can make money with this health device, great. They can think of ways to expand their business and that's a good thing.

The one complaint I have would be DS games on Wii U VC. Come on, Nintendo... Where are the N64, Mega Dive, GameCube and GBA games? If you must go with DS titles, make them available on the 3DS eShop, not on the Wii U. Most of them are still available if you want a physical copy and I can't imagine how you can possibly play DS games with the GamePad.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

Heiki

I love my GamePad. It's one of the best controllers I've seen. It's easy to hold and there are games that put it to good use.
However, it isn't so strong as a selling point of the Wii U IMHO. In the end games sell system and the likes of GamePad and Wiimote are just gimmicks. Traditional controllers like the Pro Controller are just fine.
Remember how people used to think that motion control was the future of gaming when Nintendo first released the Wii?

Re: Nintendo States There Are "No Plans" to Bring Mini-Games to Smart Devices

Heiki

Just keep making good games to your own platforms, Nintendo.
I sure don't want any Nintendo games (even if they are mini-games) on my phone or tablet. I think that would only lead to the Big N's demise.
I can't understand this whole obsession with mobile gaming. They may be good if you just want to kill some time but they can never compare to REAL games you find on consoles (and on PC, of course).
IMO mobile gaming and computing overall are really worrisome because they are killing the industry. People are letting go of their computers in favor of toys they call tablets. I just hope this is just fad and they will soon realize that there are real computers and real gaming consoles out there.
Anyway, if PCs can compete with consoles, I hope dedicated gaming systems like the 3DS and the Vita can keep doing just fine and compete with other mobile devices.

That being said, a Nintendo app for my phone with Miiverse/eShop integration would be appreciated.

Re: Sega Has No Plans To Bring Alien: Isolation To The Wii U

Heiki

@MKCustodial You just have to set your location to the US and you can use eShop. I got my Wii U still in 2012 and never had a problem with that.
Even though the 3DS has a Brazilian eShop, I prefer to use the North American eShop... It has way many titles. Truth is, Nintendo doesn't give a cr** about Brazil.
