Honestly there are some aspects of this that look interesting but it still looks half baked. And go figure they are using old battle animations for even the new pokemon. Where is all the new work that required pokemon to be cut Game Freak?

@GrailUK Infancy? Switch has been out for over 2 years now and frankly they've taken a step backwards from the WiiU which had some of the most creative online service of all.

It's not just graphics though is it. It's the whole package which is poor.
None of what you said justifies the decision of cutting content, pokemon, mega evos etc.
If you're happy with a lesser game fine.

Someone else missing the point of all this.
Firstly it's the deceit on game freaks part about why they cant input all the pokemon. They have done very little to improve graphics or animation of the game to justify cut content. If they had greatly improved them I wouldnt have such an issue as I could appreciate the effort this would take.
Secondly game freak have been working on this game since sun/moon. Which means at least 3 years and all they have little to show for it. Sw/Sh looks like an enhanced 3ds game.
Thirdly opinions dont have to be positive to be valid. Criticism can and should help developers improve things. Sadly it looks like game freak is choosing to continue to ignore fans like they've done for 10 years

You're missing the point. This isn't just about the fact that they are removing many pokemon. This is mainly about removing the pokemon then game freak attempting to justify it by claiming it's due to improved graphics and animations while retaining the same stuff from the 3DS. This makes for a sub par game on the switch. It's a hybrid yes but it's also a home console that many of us were expecting a vastly improved pokemon game. What we are getting is another 3DS game with slightly enhanced graphics. This cannot and will not ever justify a reduction in content.

@Barbara001 people have the right to express their opinions. Especially when games that we have loved for literal generations are being delivered so poorly.
Maybe you're content with sub standard games but I'm not and neither are many others.

Frankly I would get over not getting another tired old pokemon game. There are always the previous 1s to play and at least I wouldnt have any hope crushed for a future game that will never be.

@DTFaux sacrifices for including all pokemon would include what? The same stale battle mechanics, the slightly improved graphics, the sparse 'open world', the same tired battle animations, the same generic trainer appearance? Oh sorry I forget that's exactly what we're getting but with massive cuts to the game.
So I suppose you're right. Imagine what we wouldve gotten if they did include all pokes...

Of course it is a justifiable statement to make about poor graphics when Game Freak are using it as a reason to cut Pokemon. If ther were sincerely improving animations, textures, models then I would not have a problem with the cut. But they aren't. Simple. They are lying and giving us a substandard game because they can get away with it.
If you dont have time for a wingefest then why are you even commenting?

This idea that they have an excuse has been covered extensively and robustly on these comment pages. Game Freak do not have an excuse for their lack of insight, motivation, complacency. If you want to believe they do out of some blind loyality then fine but dont try and fool anyone else.

This article is stupid. These pre-order numbers have already changed. It's like reporting that it's raining outside but in reality its already stopped.

I'm glad it's going to be a fuller experience worthy of the switch. It looks a blast and pretty much everything the original was and more! At least we're getting a proper effort for the sequel unlike some other games cough game freak cough

The drama is the absurdity of reasoning. Like many have pointed out the animations are barely changed from 3DS. The pokemon models are barely changed from the 3DS. So this notion of how animation and graphics have improved to a point which means hundreds of pokemon are missing is BS.

My point was animal crossing is unlikely to be the main reason why stock went down. No new hardware, delayed games, rumoured games not being shown, wanted mature titles missing, poor online capabilities continue. Nintendo just thought they could chuck a bunch of games we already knew about at e3 and that be it. Granted many folk seem to think it was amazing but I'm sure those are the people with no critical mind when it relates to Nintendo.

Animal crossing being delayed has little impact on me. I am very surprised investors would attribute its delay as reason for the drop.
Although Nintendo showed a lot of games few of them really jumped out. In a year where Microsoft, Sony are pushing new hardware. Nintendo really needed to show up with knock out games if they weren't going to release new switch versions. All we really got was games we already knew about, games no one really asked for, big games missing from the line up - bayonetta, smt, metroid.

Are some people really moaning about this? It is advertised with parental guidance so if people are so concerned by playground language then go see the film without your kids and decide if you want your child to see it.
May I add that parents need to stop trying to force their children into being a better version of themselves.

If you feel uncomfortable with your children hearing certain words like "hell" then I suggest you avoid taking your children anywhere and stop them going to school. Be realisitc. Curse words are not the be all and end all. They are just words and trying to mold your child into something you want them to be is an issue for you personally - not your children or anyone elses responsibility.

@Klunk23 Agreed but I can't help but be disappointed. I just hoped they would have done something refreshed with the battle system, the overworld, the graphics - something!!!! At this point it looks like they've just come up with new Pokemon and a new region based on industrial Britian.

@NoxAeturnus The argument that I can't criticise Alex's score because the game has broken online functions is baffling. The only aspect of smash was something that was heavily featured in the direct, it is a huge factor to a large portion of the smash community, so the idea that Alex is speaking on behalf of a majority is silly. A game that we need to pay to play online should provide more than just being able to sometimes battle without lag.

@macalao914 Basically it is a lottery if you get a good or bad connection. Further the matchmaking is terrible. I and many, many others, have been put into matches like FFA. You can't back out of these matches, you cant change character, you are stuck fighting again if your opponent doesn't want a rematch. Its all basic level stuff that Nintendo had better with Smash 4. I really don't understand how they have managed to make Ultimate worse.

@SmileMan64 My connection is good. I've tested it which then suggests its often the connection from other players which is insane considering Nintendo is charging me to play online using my own server. Also it isn't just the poor connections/lag issues. Its the whole way it works. Being chucked into fights I didn't want to be in. It is really poor and a step backward from Smash4. Online functionality is hideous on the switch and makes playing Smash online terrible. I would also just add that the adventure mode is dull as dishwater but hey its a perfect game apparently...

So when is anyone at Nintendo life going to write an article about the that is online play?

Is nobody else really disturbed by the fact that Nintendo are making us pay for using our own internet server in P2P connections? Like wtf!?
They might be coming out to say they are making dedicated servers so worry not; splatoon online play wont randomly drop, lag in ssbu wont exist!
Doubt it though...
