They use Ren'Py on the original release (not sure on switch) but I had a look at the code they use, it is way more complexe than most Ren'Py/Visual Novel you tend to see. The game story is really complexe, there is a lot of branching, and they also do a lot of things that Ren'Py is not supposed to, which is probably why all the struggle. Their game would probably benefit from being converted to a better suited game engine, or its own dedicated game engine.
I don't get, what is so special about these things? I like the switch with the normal joycon, and it is already quite big, what's the point in using these ?
Edit: I'm talking about the "nitro deck". I've been seeing a lot of people talking about these recently
Considering how good BG&E was and with such a nice (and done on purpose) graphic design, I would really prefer the horror they showed as BG&E 2 to never be released.
@antisumo Yeah most likely, but can hope they manage to make it faster, or at least appear faster, because that make teleportation to your base quite annoying when you are in other systems)
Having shorter load time would be nice, jumping between systems either flying to using a teleport take a very long while. Pretty sure it is way way faster on PC.
XC3 Collector edition is still not available to purchase in the UK, I don't get it, the game will be released in what 16 days, about 2 weeks and it is still not up, I know the collector part will be sent later, but what the problem into setting the sale on?
With that Bayo3 collector sold out in less than 1h. Start to really lose my cool there :/
@Mgalens the XCX DLC only exists to speed up loading, they don’t add anything new not already on the disc, you can play it without any download, it’s just that fast travel loading time will be really slow as there are lots of data to read from the disc.
@shoeses There is no real magic that can be done, if it is emulation, they have to provide the whole game, they can't just cut part of it (without doing major changes in each games, and downloading on the fly would me your switch need to be connected to the internet to play gamecube games, or at least download it the first time, and even if the app come with no game downloaded by default, you will have to wait to finish the game download before you can play it, and you'll end with the same problem...
@shoeses There is a really simple reason, GameCube NSO will never happen. One gamecube game is about 1.5GB which is the maximum you can store on a GC disc.
So just having that NSO and 10 GC cames would take about half of the internal storage of a normal switch. (¼ for the OLED as it is double the size)
That would be quickly out of control in term of storage space.
I like Ultra Despair Girls, but the Vita has Never been a really great handheld.. It would really merit to be released on the Switch, the vita is too small for the controls and I do get cramp really easily with it.
The original game was pretty ok, not sure I would go on good, but I've spend some good time with it, albeit a major issue where the saves were not stored on the cart but on your 3DS SD Card with all the limitation that goes with: cannot be transferred to another 3DS without doing a full system transfer that really annoyed me.
But that "Online" version has always been an insult to the original game.
Considering that the new "biome blending" feature (to avoid chunck borders between old world and new world generation) was not really great on the last snapshot, I don't think it will be released that early.
My Good Old Day 1 switch has never seen a screen protector, the fan vent guars are broken, there is a bit of a crack in the bottom, but the screen is in perfect condition. Just use proper case to transport it, don't put it as is in your bag, and you will not have any trouble. I've seen more issues with "screen protectors" than without.
And I'm not going easy with the dock either. I mean I don't try to use as a grit 1 sand stone of course!
Best way to have a small bit of plastic stuck in the headphone jack.
Also I'm pretty sure that the console will switch the audio off from both speakers and HDMI if something is connected, or should I say something is put in the connector (does not need to be metallic) so.. A bit useless no? Unless you don't care playing without sound?
A agree with the precise controls, there are time I nearly screwed-up because the cursors/building moved in an unpredictable way and was going to press the A button.
Other than that it is really a good game, and when you see the the price it absolutely kill all discussion about not getting it
I do NOT want any form of cloud based game streaming.
They port the game to run natively or no games. Other than pandemic time I use my switch in way too many situation where I don't have an internet connection or a really flacky one. Also not everyone one have super duper high speed low latency internet connections. There are still people in the world with 128k ADSL connections.
> new OLED model only costs Nintendo around $10 more to produce per unit,
I love how analyst get random number from a hat.
The fact that the eMMC is double and there is an OLED screen cannot make the price to be $10 more to produce. But that's also forgetting another thing. Albeit using the same (or similar) components in it, this new Switch is nearly a complet redesign, the joycon rail are different, the shell is different, the stand is different, there is no chance for the PCB to be the same. So it is a complete redesign, and you know what? That's not free, making mold for the injected part, making the blue print to make the metal part and so one, the cost is not $0, nor the cost of the engineers working one the redesign, nor the engineer working on the software and so on. Basing the "margin" only on "hardware cost" is 100% wrong, and all of these analyst know that really well, but they all still do that. I let you guess why.
Nintendo have nothing to worry about. Most PC gamer, aka people using Steam do not care about such device to play PC games.
Also this thing is not "year ahead" of the Switch. Most (all?) demanding game will not run on that, they will need to be streamed from your high end PC.
This is just another try on the steambox, things that fail quite badly.
Also a really important point. Game made for the Switch, there is only one hardware, so game released for the Switch in 5 years time will run well on Switch sold in 2017.
PC Game released in 5 years time will probably not run well on that device.
I still order from them, but since they change the warehouse/website and contractors there has been a lot of weird thing happening. I'm not even sure I will receive my SS preorder and the SS Joycons..
Considering how hard it is using normal programming languages, I don't think we can really blame Nintendo on making a tool which is accessible to all, especially considering that block programming tend to be limited because of how it is made.
@RupeeClock They move a bit weirdly considering they are supposed to be mechanical, but I think they do reasonably keep their length on that video.
This is a really weird bug, like if the left was attached to the ground for some reason, but also why does the leg stretch like that, something really wrong with physics and skeletons there
@nessisonett I loved Wii Music, it was not making real music of course, but it was fun to play and even more fun with friends!
I also enjoyed Art Academy, but sadly we probably will never see it again as it need proper touchscreen with stylus and the one on the Switch is not good for that.. (unless they release a probably expensive drawing tablet accessory..
