"I think Nintendo's first-party content is vastly superior"--In his dreams maybe. Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape are the greatest games of all time! ALL TIME!
It's a great idea (tablets are so hot right now). I've found the only gamers complaining are the ones who wanted the Wii to live forever and the ones who love their PS3 so much they weren't looking to buy Wii U anyway. I used to wonder how PlayStation had any fans left, I've decided they're an option for gamers who hate change.
@TLink9 Aiming with the Wiimote would feel more realistic if it wasn't featherlight. The Wiimote can be fun, but if you're looking for the best FPS performance you'll want a PC mouse.
You can tease me with Last Story and Xenoblade but you can't trick me into thinking I'd be missing out on anything here. I've played enough Tales of games to know by now there isn't a shoddier bunch of RPGs in existence.
Funny how almost nothing from the concept stage made it into the final game. They wanted to make a point about Maurice having a receding hairline, but he never takes his helmet off in the game. K.G. was supposed to have fashion sense? He never spoke to anyone. His personality (like himself) was M.I.A.
@Lordy I'm not a fan of Kirby either, but Kirby Wii is a 4 player co-op game. If I have half as much fun with it as I did playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it'll be worth getting. Skyward Sword whatever happens looks to be the only Wii game that really does something with Wii Motion Plus. That alone is a reason to look forward to it.
I was pissed off early this year when all the Wii games stopped coming (when everyone else was patiently awaiting E3), but now that I know the Wii U is months away I'm not pissed anymore. I'm no longer wondering why the games have vanished. And like Nintendo, I doubt bringing over three niche games would be a good idea now that the Wii's on it's last legs.
@Godot Hironobu Sakaguchi said Last Story isn't another samey JRPG (unlike Xenoblade). So I would have liked to try it. That said, I don't care too much about the fate of these three games. With far better titles like Skyward Sword, Kirby Wii, and Dragon Quest X on the way--I'm very content with Nintendo for the time being.
@MeloMan Let's hope it doesn't feel too much like Arcadia or Baten Kaitos, or else we'll all be wondering why Nintendo decided to give this game the Zelda name.
@Sushi No, no, no. The love triangle will involve Zelda, Link, and the Skyward Sword girl. After they save Zelda, Link will realize the girl of his dreams was right in front of him all this time. Also after Zelda's rescue, instead of returning to Skyloft, the native Hylians make her their prom queen.
Another controller I want bundled with another game I'm not very excited about. @mariofanatic128 I hope the Xenoblade hopefuls get this game in NA for their sake, but it doesn't look better than recent RPGs. I've read and seen enough about it to know I don't want to buy this one. Give me Dragon Quest X.
Sonic Adventure was the first Sonic game I got really excited about. I played it for the first time inside a comic book store on an imported Dreamcast five months before it launched in North America. I had never seen graphics like that before in my life. That and Power Stone were definitely the reasons I pre-ordered a Dreamcast.
@JimmyWhale It might be weird, but I met my previous girlfriend playing New Super Mario Bros Wii. She always knew exactly when I wanted to pound ground. I thought we could go on like that forever. Then one day we found all the star coins and we both knew it was over. Take my advice, Mario is nothing to base a serious relationship on.
@Big_Gamer Using Blu-ray would have pros and cons. To keep costs down they would have to use a slow Blu-ray drive, like Sony does. That leads to uncomfortable load times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOSFhbuaTlo
All this FPS phobia seems strange to me. Contra, Metal Slug, Gunstar Heroes... What do you think these games would be if they were 3D?
@Number_6 I had that family dilemma too. I decided to tell the children that video games were just for grown ups. @Merriam-Webster Hardcore can never be defined. Never!
@3dbrains Don't confuse evolution for innovation. Better graphics and faster load times are both improvements that everyone expects from a new console. That doesn't change the way we play video games. Those analog triggers were no surprise either. Also you could argue mini-DVDs were responsible for holding back the GameCube with a lot of short games and a lot of weak sound.
I'm sure everyone here will forgive HVS in time for being unprofessional. Sony kept gamers in the dark about the "external intrusion", and now everyone can't wait to give PSN their credit card numbers again.
Mass Effect doesn't have explicit sex scenes?! BioWare... I expected more from them honestly. I already traded in my Mass Effect game now, and I will never purchase something from BioWare again.
I think it's worth noting that Chrono Trigger's different endings are mostly Easter eggs for you to find on your second playthrough. This is a very linear RPG. Don't expect many big decisions that alter the course of the game.
Chrono Trigger for 8 bucks on the VC is not a bad deal, but 10/10 is some pretty high praise. It looks good and it's easy to play, but it's also one shallow RPG.
@Mickeymac Where he used to say, "I once abandoned someone when she needed me." On the GBA he says, "I'm tired of standing by and doing nothing while I lose the girls I like."
This game should have come out back in November when people still had a passion for the Wii. After experiencing Bulletstorm, every FPS on the Wii is going to feel like a 5/10.
Ever since the early 90's I've always known Nintendo as the family-friendly console, the Wii didn't start that. For this Project Cafe to out sell the Wii it will have to find a way to bring back casual/non gamers. Otherwise it'll be a great machine that will share the fate of the GameCube.
@tealovertoma IDK if Nintendo is going to use an iPad as a controller (which would be funny) but you're right about Skyward Sword and Wii Sports being the only games we'd miss without motion controls. It's time to put an end to the waggle fest.
@BetelgeuseWC77 I found nothing innovative about the SNES, GBA, or the GameCube. Sometimes Nintendo doesn't surprise you.

Capcom needs to get more involved with my @$$ by biting it.
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
Man, I was hating Capcom long before it was cool. Ever since they let Keiji Inafune quit.
Re: Mega Man Legends 3 Cancelled
Bring back Keiji Inafune!

Re: Pachter Thinks Nintendo has Superior First-Party Software
@komicturtle92 You're right. I forgot about Kirby. Now that I give it some thought, those Sony games are total crap.

Re: Sony: Wii U is No Threat, Says "Welcome to 2006, Nintendo"
@PSICOffee Microsoft didn't rip off Sony. It's clear where they've been pulling their controller ideas, triggers and all.
@Kainard I haven't seen Sony improve on anything that's been done before them.
Re: Sony: Wii U is No Threat, Says "Welcome to 2006, Nintendo"
@Qwikman_Bass I hate Windows as much as the next guy, but it's hard not to like the Xbox since it so obviously picked up where the Dreamcast left off.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?
@Rathe There's nothing cool about being game savvy. Hardcore gamers are still considered nerds.
Whereas casual gamers tend to be clueless and very attractive. I for one embrace these strange new gamers.
Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?
If you owned a Dreamcast, you're hardcore.

@theberrage Good news, bro. Thanks to Project Cafe soon you'll be playing Zelda when you're taking a dump too.

Dragon Quest VIII is the only one worth playing. But this collection could still sell over here, especially since Dragon Warrior is absent on the VC.
