I hope you can customize your main character--I'd hate to battle it out in frozen tundras wearing a light jacket and sunglasses. Also his hair is... pink.
@madgear Let's not make MDK2 out to be something it's not. As far as BioWare games go, it's way down there with Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. The original MDK on PSX was much better. @TrueWiiMaster Baldur's Gate is that good, but it's ridiculous to say Nintendo gamers are missing out on anything because they can get a copy of it anywhere for the PC (if they haven't already) for under $10 and play it easily if they've got a OS that was made in the last 16 years.
It's called Super Mario Adventure. It's a new sandbox game with full voice acting. You get to take on little side quests and drive a mario kart to get around the Mushroom Kingdom. Also your choices change the outcome of the game, and there's a Luma Garden. You can breed Lumas now.
@TrueWiiMaster If you enjoyed Halo 2, you should play the original Halo: Combat Evolved. It's way better--not graphically, but it is better.
@SanFrisco9er If you ever decide to play Metroid Prime 1 and 2, splurge on the Metroid Prime Trilogy so you don't have to put up with the horrid GameCube control scheme. The Wiimote and Nunchuk were a Godsend to that series. The GameCube version wouldn't allow you to move and aim at the same time!
If Awakening lets you pair up same sex couples, they won't be able have children that grow up as allies in battle. That could pose a problem in the later levels of the game.
@TrueWiiMaster One thing GameCubers never seem to grasp (or can't determine from a screen shot) is how massive the levels are in Halo. Metroid Prime has tiny rooms and corridors separated by doors you have to blast and wait in front of while the next little area loads. In fact if you rush from room to room too fast in Metroid Prime the game will freeze--which sadly happened to me more than once.
@Aviator The PS3 and Xbox 360 aren't last generation consoles yet. But after the Wii U launches this year, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be last gen and so will their games.
I agree with Epic Games here. The Wii U should have come out in 2011, but it'll be worth the wait. The more I hear about it the better it gets.
@Aviator Maybe you're unaware but the Xbox 360 launched with last generation ports like Burnout Revenge, and it didn't stop there. Gamers still bought it. Last gen ports won't stop anyone from buying a Wii U.
@Altrix I didn't like the loftwing portions either. I'd much rather have an overworld to walk around. At least the skydiving was fun. Spoiler There's a part later in the game when you need to get to an adjacent island to grab some Goddess treasure and the only way over to it is to swan dive off Skyloft and crash onto it. End Spoiler It's a great moment.
@TheDarkness It's impossible to swing the sword with a bomb in Link's hands. I've tried it. Either you're pressing A and putting the bomb at Link's feet, or you're squeezing the B button and putting the bomb away when you try to flick the Wii remote to throw it. You may not like the controls but that doesn't mean they don't work.
I have a laundry list of things that bugged me about Skyward Sword, but the accuracy of the motion controls weren't one of them.
@TheDarkness Dude, you have to press the B button to ready a bomb before you throw it. Otherwise you'll just swing your sword. That's the trouble you're having.
@Tsuchinoko I'm glad someone made the comparison to NetFlix. A lot of gamers don't quite understand that digital downloads are just expensive game rentals. I feel bad for the ones who stock up on hundreds of these games. Maybe this will finally help them realize they've been pissing their money away.
@theblackdragon I agree with your previous comment. The PlayStation was quite the blunder on Nintendo's part. But even if the PSX had never happened, how can we be sure that cancerous games like Ape Escape wouldn't have poisoned the industry anyway? Sony was already publishing lackluster games before they were bilking consumers into buying PlayStations.
@ColorsOfSonic Your instincts are wrong, I'm one of the many unfortunate owners of the Binding of Isaac "thanks" to the Humble Bundle. (All of those sales numbers make a lot more sense now don't they?) Even for an indie game, Isaac surprised me with its low level of quality. It's unimpressive when it comes to both its visuals and gameplay. Everything about it feels lazy. Make no mistake, on the 3DS this game would have been overpriced and out of its league.
I'm all for getting physical. But I've been warming up to digital downloads since I've had so much trouble finding older games in acceptable conditions.
@tealovertoma You think the Binding of Isaac deserves to be put on the 3DS just because Nintendo has OK'd lame games in the past? If Nintendo wants to improve their image they need to start passing on the shovelware, and that means giving Isaac the boot.
This game was such a cheap POS. We won't miss a sloppy Zelda clone. Blame questionable religious content if you must, but this was a victory for quality control. Allowing games like Binding of Isaac the opportunity to leech so much money from gamers on the eShop would have been upsetting.
Nintendo can improve on the circle pads, but I like that they're changing up analogs this time. Circle pads give their hardware a sleek unique new look--at least until Sony copies it.
Best to buy a 3DS, save yourself a few hundred bucks, and enjoy a vastly superior collection of games. Hopefully it's not too late to cancel those Vita pre-orders.
Choosing who lives and who dies in battle was the greatest part of the fun. FE always gave you way too many characters for that reason. It's not like Warsong where every man counts.
Is no story mode really an issue? It comes with movie included, how much more story do you need? Not that I'd recommend buying this game. Tekken is an archaic fighting franchise that should have died out in the 90's. I kind of want to watch that 3D movie though.

Re: 3DS Patent Covers Vibrating Stylus, New Kinds of Control
Best image ever? Oh Nintendo innuendo.
Re: Feature: Launching a Console Without Mario
Does it have to be Mario? Maybe gamers will settle for a cheesy knock-off. That seems to work for Sony.

Re: Feature: Why AR Horror Just Isn't Cutting It
I have a hard time visualizing a substantial AR game of any kind. Maybe it's time for a Polybius revival?

Well that's fine for a driving game, but how is this nonsense going to help me in Dead or Alive?

Re: Developers: Wii U "Less Powerful than PS3 and 360"
The Wii U has some mighty big Pegasus Shoes to fill. The Wii has been Nintendo's greatest console ever.
Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About a Year of 3DS
Luigi's Mansion? No excitement for Fire Emblem, huh?
Re: Nintendo UK Pushes Wii RPGs with New Trailer
I'm going to pass on Xenoblade. Xenogears and Xenosaga were both really dull. I might rent it though.

Re: Nintendo Leaves BAFTA Empty-Handed
@siddharthbandhu It's like Pachinko only not quite as exciting.
Re: Hands On: Hyperkin SupaBoy Portable SNES
Yes! It has two extra controller ports so you can play Secret of Mana with two of your friends. And best of all, it fits right into your pocket.
Re: New Fire Emblem Trailer Raises the Temperature
@Koto The point is Shining Force III is a very old game. It's 2012 now and 3D characters don't have to look this placid in combat.
Re: New Fire Emblem Trailer Raises the Temperature
The 3D combat still looks a little sluggish. It's time to renovate this series. Right now Fire Emblem reminds me too much of Shining Force III.

I'm dishonestly disappointed. It will be great to finally see what Hironobu Sakaguchi has in store for the Wii.

Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!
Aside from having to muscle my way past Kazuya to get to the forums, I don't see a big difference.
Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!
I love the new look. It's just like Push Square, except the games don't suck here.
Re: Feature: Zelda and Link's Romance in Skyward Sword
I ruined Pipit's chances with Karane, because I knew she also had feelings for Link.
