But seriously tho, South Korea is a PC Master Race nation. That unhealthy love affair begun in the late 80's and early 90's when most South Koreans were too poor to be able to afford anything but a cheap PC's. They stuck with PC's all the way to the present.

Doesn't help that in SK, Nintendo is synonymous with Fisher-Price (a brand that targets chilsren). So most gamers ignore Ninty's games because of that.

Unless Nintendo manages to change their image through some effective PR, not even the Switch will make it big there.

It's quite an interesting read. Especially the part where the producer admits that VC was influenced by several sources. Including Fire Emblem.

On several forums (including here) several users are quick to throw Nintendo into the same bag as EA, Activision or Ubisoft when it comes to DLC.

I guess those companies also provide FREE DLC... (yeah right)

Y'see, they want the Switch to replace the 3DS as a source of profits. And profits only. That means that they'll cheap out as much as possible on the Switch to maximize profits. That means that they will skip physical releases when they think they can get away with it.

Why are they doing this? To fund the development of PS4, X1, PC games. Where games will be released mostly physically.

The 3DS made them millions thanks to the success of Monster Hunter on it. That money allowed them to:

1. Make AAA games for the HD twins
2. Afford to release the RETAIL versions of their games on the PS4 and X1

The problem with that strategy on the Switch, is that Capcom has failed to deliver an IP that will make them millions. As the MonHun main series immigrated to the PS4 & X1. So they'll have to make all their money on those consoles. And its been very hard. Just look at how SFV and RE7 have barely been able to break even there.

Anywhoo, the Switch is region free. If you want the retail version of Revelations Collection, just IMPORT.

Anywhoo, I've played the beat 'em-ups only because I adore the genre. I'm still not sold on this spin-off because I don't care for the whole "pet simulator" element.

But if I don't think it is worth my time, I'll just move on. If anyone else gets a kick out of it, wonderful. Let them enjoy it.

However, the producer of VC did say that when making the first game, he was very open to influences from many games, including Fire Emblem. Here's a direct quote:

"I've been trying to basically play games across all genres. Fantasy RPGs and Fire Emblem and others, too. We're trying to bring elements of many different genres that we feel would work well in the title" - Ryutaro Nonaka

So yeah, FE was an influence. No denying that.

If you were to make a Tactical RPG, are you telling me you would've never researched PIONEERING games from the genre? To make sure you knew what had been done before, what had worked and how you could improve the formula.

Like the devs made PlayStation All-Stars, they would've been insane to deny that Smash Bros was an influence for their game. They sorta did deny it was a direct copy. But couldn't deny it was an influence.
