Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

@Yasaal Nothing you have said so far proves that Nintendo will not implement what they said they would only a few months away.

I say we wait and see. And if they do carry out what they said they would, I want you to write an emotional apology letter to Nintendo.

If they don't, I'll help you sell your Nintendo products so that you don't have to deal with them ever again.

Deal?

Re: Sonic Forces Struggles in Japan as Super Mario Odyssey and Switch Lead Charts

GC-161

@Agramonte First, Nintendo is also doing great financially. Not sure what that has to do with the Switch giving the PS4 a painful bloody nose each week despite Ninty's consoles being supply constrained.

Second, that argument is relevant to you because you brought up 3rd party support. Well that support isn't helping the PS4 in Japan that much.

@Yasaal The Wii U was a massive failure. Full stop.

That you're trying to say that Nintendo lies or goes back on their word based on them trying to move away from the sinking ship that was the Wii U is silly. They had to change their plans. It would've been dumb for them to stick to their original plans.

And again, the Switch is a massive SUCCESS. The polar opposite of the Wii U. So there is zero reason to expect them to suddenly change their plans for next year.

But we shall soon see. It's only a couple of months away.

Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

GC-161

@Yasaal You got to be kidding me by using the Wii U as an example of Nintendo going back on their word. That's a lousy example. I dunno if you got the news but the Wii U BOMBED.

So of course they had to change their strategy and plans accordingly.

That situation has absolutely no relevance to what is about to happen on the Switch.

C'mon son.

Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

@Yasaal LOL What I told you is written all over Nintendo's website. That is not hearsay or Reggie getting his facts wrong. It's what they can confirm about the service at this time.

That is, subscribers to Nintendo's online service WILL be able to enjoy special deals and discounts AND they'll will be able to play specially modified Virtual Console games that have an online multiplayer feature added.

Again, that's just what they are willing to confirm about how things will work.

Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

GC-161

@Yasaal Nintendo is taking its time implementing features on the Switch. The system obviously came out waaaaay before it was ready for showtime. We can thank the Wii U bombing for that.

Thing is, don't expect the eShop to be so bare bones once Nintendo starts charging us a monthly fee.

Re: Natsume Staff Discuss the Beginning of the Harvest Moon Series

GC-161

IMO the Harvest Moon series hit their peak during the DS era. Sorta like how Nintendogs and Brain Training games were also big on said platform. I have my doubts they'll ever be as big again. Maybe on mobile phones.

My fave was the N64 one. Hopefully it will be re-released on the N64 mini

Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

GC-161

@Yasaal Trolls or fanboys? Well, that sort of thing is what you usually see on PSN, Steam and especially on metacritic.

On eShop the system at least forces them to buy and play the full game for an hour before being able to rate it. Which is a good way to cut down on the troll/fanboy crap.

Re: The Switch eShop Now Lets You Search for Game Demos

GC-161

@Yasaal Big difference is that you had to play at least an hour of a game before you could rate it on eShop.

Which is vastly better than how it is on other shops or even on metacritic. Where you can rate games as soon as you download them or even if you never play them at all.

Re: Guide: Give Your Switch's Download Speed a Little Boost by Changing the MTU

GC-161

@JaxonH Pfft! Saw those already. That's why I've been saying what I said before.

Their tests say micro sd cards are faster than retail cards. And more importantly, they could be even faster if Ninty had not included an artificial cap to prevent taking any advantage from using speedy micro sd cards.

Perhaps to prevent their retail cards from looking like trash in comparison.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Gets Massive Update

GC-161

@JaxonH Been playing it since it came out and I've yet to spent a dime on it.

Funny enough, I dunno HOW to spend money on it. I simply play and there is no point where I'm being told that I need to pay to keep doing what I'm doing. So I don't.

Re: Nintendo is Close to a Major Deal for a New Mario Bros. Movie

@BAN I'm the butt-hurt one and yet you're the one writing walls of text accusing me of "insulting" everything but your opinion that a wacky voice is out of place in animated films? I'm merely questioning THAT opinion. Stop taking it personal.

Sweet-feathery-Jeeeesus!

And here's along @$$ video of Charles Martinet doing the Mario voice while reading a book. His voice is fine doing regular dialogues.

https://youtu.be/qevVLEYFfC4

Enjoy!

Re: Nintendo is Close to a Major Deal for a New Mario Bros. Movie

GC-161

@BAN Dude, there are full lenght videos featuring Charles Martinet imitators doing the voice on YouTube and no one in the comments is complaining about the voice. Why? Because 1).- Mario's vouce it's not even on the same level of annoyance as Spongebob high pitched-nails on a chalkboard- voice and 2).- characters with fake italian accents have been a thing before you opened your big brown eyes for the very first time in this world.

So it won't bother anyone who's been around before the Wii U launched.

Yeah, I find it an inane complaint. Considering all the goofy voices in animation that have ZERO effect on their popularity.

Re: Nintendo is Close to a Major Deal for a New Mario Bros. Movie

GC-161

@BAN This is such an inane complaint considering the voices of popular characters such as Spongebob (uber annoying voice) or Calliou.

And Mario's voice actually works fine. Once you realize he won't go "Letssa Go!" or "Whooohoo!" every 2 seconds but actually says normal sentences.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Embraced DLC, But Must Resist The Worst Industry Norms

GC-161

@Crono1973 Nintendo is always going to be a viable option since they traditionally lag behind Sony and MS in terms of having the latest high tech platforms.

So its not surprising that indies have embraced it or that Japanese devs are quickly warming up to it.

Meanwhile, big Western devs are cautious with the Switch.

But if you notice, they still want to charge its users full price for even 15 year old games (see Syberia).

Now all this talk about Nintendo being just as bad as EA in terms of DLC is pure unadulterated hyperbolic BS. They're not even close to being the same. I suggest anyone claiming that, to actually buy EA products instead of ASSuming they're completely alike. Because they're not.

And again, most of Ninty's DLC is optional. Unlike EA's.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Embraced DLC, But Must Resist The Worst Industry Norms

GC-161

@Yorumi Actually the article mentioned that gamers are demanding MORE AND MORE that their HD/4K games look both beautiful and run at least at 60fps. Which guess what? Requires devs & tech that are expensive to come by. They don't work for pennies anymore.

So they're not claiming "poverty" no more than Hollywood productions moving to Canada or a cheaper alternative to filming in Los Angeles, are. It's just a way to keep making EXPENSIVE (looking) movies and still make a profit from them. Which keeps getting harder to do since most movies these days need a ton of FX's to get butts on seats at a movie theater.

With Nintendo phasing out the DS line, devs that cannot afford to move to mid-tier HD gaming will lose a cheaper alternative and will probably focus on making mobile games.

So unless you're ok with paying more than $60 per game, you're going to see more DLC and microtransactions.
