It's not too bad. It looks good, and plays well, but it does get a little bit boring. But I'm having fun with it. On the third world now, so will give a final verdict once I've played through it all.
Also, is there any way to skip the intro when you turn the game on? It's good to watch the first time, but annoying every other time.
It was fine in 64, because it didn't happen all that often, as in every few races or so. In Wii, you could get hit by 2-4 in the one race, plus you lose whatever weapon you had.
I like having the weapons in the game, because that's what Mario Kart is, but I like the idea of at least having some skill the use them effectively (be is accuracy or timing) so it's not just all randomness. It can still be chaotic.
EDIT: And don't get me started on how they butchered the battle mode.
How would you rate this compared to Wonder Boy in Monster World? It looks quite similar. If it's anything like that game, I'll be getting this one, as it's quite amazing.
It was just released too late for me. If it was released at the same time as the US, I would have snapped it up quickly. But now, the hype is gone and I'm more interested in other things. I'm still going to get it soon, but with Internet/communication the way it is now, there shouldn't be any big delays between regions.
I don't see the point in importing from Europe, as the difference isn't that much, and postage would probably make it more expensive. Well, that's the way I think it is, but I could be wrong.
I pre-ordered my 3DS with the Rabbids game, so hopefully I can get it changed to Samurai Warriors or Rayman. That would keep me happy for a while, as I'm sure the other games wouldn't be too far behind.
Besides, I'll probably be too busy playing Okamiden anyway to notice.
@Adam - let Retro make a new Battletoads, and hopefully one that is possible to finish. I still can't beat it without "help". Even then, it's still hard.
Dick smith have it at $298, with the choice of Rayman, rabbids, or ghost recon. Free delivery (dispatched on the 30th) Just pre ordered. dicksmith.com.au/offer/3dspreorder if you're interested.
Reading some of the comments from the WiiWare World article were pretty funny. Like this one from Terra about Duke Nukem Forever: "At least it seems to finally be nearly done after all this time" Only 3 more years. Ah hindsight (mind you, it could still be delayed again, and I will be laughing at this comment in a few years ).
@Zach - thanks. I'll have a look into that. The free delivery is especially good, as I probably won't be able to get into town to buy it around that time.
EDIT: they are also selling the 3DS separately for $328. BigW usually have good prices (I got my DSi for $200 just as the XL came out). But gonna wait to see what JB Hifi are offering first, as they usually have free postage too.
@Waltz - how much free beer did you consume? @WiiLovePeace - factor in postage too.
Anyway, probably gonna get the black one around launch time (whenever I can get to a store), but not sure what game to get though. Are there gonna be any VC games at all at launch for any region?
That list isn't too bad. I would definitely be able to find something to play until other games come out. Pilotwings and Street Fighter probably, but maybe even Rayman or Monkey Ball or Dynasty Warriors. Games that i probably wouldnt buy normally (maybe thats what theyre trying to do) but could still enjoy. If there are VC games at launch too, and along with Okamiden, I think I will be able to entertain myself fairly well.
I've only had my DS for a year, but it was a good year. Playing catch up meant that I played a lot of games, and still have more that I would like to try out. Seems that it's gonna be too hard with all the new games coming out.
The stores I've been to still have large DS displays, but most of the games don't look like ones I would play. Hopefully a couple of gems are released after the 3DS is released.

Tree chopping restrictions at Kokiri Forest has resulted in skinny fences being made so they can get the most coverage from their limited resources.

At the moment JB's have it for $348 with only an accessory pack, so Big W is looking good so far.

Looking forward to the review, as I'm interested to hear what this game is like. RPG sports game is a really interesting combination.
