Nintendo's agreement to promote Square Enix's upcoming Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation on DS proves both companies are eager to capitalise on the success of last year's Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. Last year, series creator Yuji Horii attended the DQIX launch to meet fans, but this year you'll have to earn your right to meet him by taking part in a trivia contest.
Starting today, the official Nintendo America Twitter account will tweet a series of trivia questions throughout the week. Each round will see prizes given away – round one starts off with 100 t-shirts to be won, but it quickly ramps up, with four round two winners netting a copy of the game and a trip for two to San Francisco. It's there in San Francisco that the ultimate DQVI trivia know-it-all will meet series creator Yuji Horii and presumably nab an autographed photo or two.
More details, rules and regulations are below. If you're on Twitter, be sure to follow Nintendo Life to stay up-to-date with Nintendo news, reviews and opinions.
DRAGON QUEST VI Trivia Contest Gives Fans a Chance to Win a Trip to Meet Video Game Legend Yuji Horii
Video game fans eagerly awaiting the Feb. 14 launch of the DRAGON QUEST® VI: Realms of Revelation video game for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems will have a fun way to count down to the game's release. Today, Nintendo of America will kick off a trivia contest via its official "@NintendoAmerica" Twitter handle. A series of trivia questions about the game - each one trickier than the last - will be posted throughout the week, inviting fans and followers to submit the correct answer. The contest will offer prizes for each Round, including 100 T-shirts for Round 1, four copies of DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation for Round 2 and a trip for two to San Francisco, where the Round 3 winner can meet DRAGON QUEST creator Yuji Horii in person (see below for more prize details).
While anyone with access to the Web will be able to view the contest questions and official answers, only the first 100 eligible @NintendoAmerica Twitter followers who correctly answer the first question today will be eligible to advance Round 2, and four Round 2 winners who correctly answer later questions will advance to Round 3 (the final round). Full contest details, and Official Rules and regulations can be found at http://dragonquest6.nintendo.com/contest.
DRAGON QUEST fans on the West Coast will also get the chance to meet Horii at a special appearance at the GameStop "Store of the Future" in Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 1-3 p.m. Horii will autograph items for the first 50 consumers in attendance, and the DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation game will be on sale for the duration of the event - two days prior to its nationwide launch.
Previously unavailable outside of Japan, DRAGON QUEST VI: Realms of Revelation makes its North American debut exclusively on hand-held Nintendo DS systems Feb. 14. Originally released in 1995 for Japan's Super Famicom system (known in the U.S. as Super NEST), the game offers rich role-playing adventure in a multitude of captivating worlds as players gather allies and battle fierce monsters on a quest to defeat evil forces. Players can choose from nine starting classes and unlock others as they progress through the game.

Clever. May look into this
Don't we have a few people here who almost only play Dragon Quest? I guess they have some competition.
/me raises hand.
I know a god amount...we'll see what happens!
Dragon Quest with more sprites? Colour me interested in this entry. Hope it comes out in EU.
Looks like I may have to make a Twitter account. Dragon Quest is my favorite series ever, and it'd be amazing to meet Horii-san.
Didn't realize it was coming out so soon. Better go open up my wallet...
I like Dragon Quest, but I've only got the latest, IX (which was great). I don't think I could win anything like this. I'm not even sure if I'll get XI...
@Fuzzy yep, it's just around the corner.
We want the European date!!! We want Dragon Quest VI!!!
that guy with blue hair is named... he's named, ummm...he,s he's....Bob?
Following Dragon Quest tradition, he has no name, other than "Hero."
Anyway, I made it through the laughably easy first round, though, thanks to school, I'll probably have to miss round 2.
yay for Google!
...But if I did make it to San Fran, I'd lose horribly
Yeah, I'm not even gonna try. I've only played DQW and IX.
I bet sweet, old Edith Jeter would've been all over this contest...
I'd rather meet the guy that they got to do the art designs. Even though I already know it's the creator of Dragon Ball
@melvin2898 yeah same here
