It is me or a lot of companies created patents with descriptions that can fit any modern device and then demanding successful/real companies? Was that on purpose? Were they waiting for a device similar to the description to appear and then demand? Or was just it a project that never managed to work and then they see they can make a profit with that?
@dariusq Handheld with support for TV. I am sold. It may be similar to what I do now with GBA games and Visual Boy Advance, I hook my laptop to my TV and apply a lot of filters (V-sync, Triple Buffering, HQx4...). It is incredible how good it looks since I am upscaling to a 43'' screen from the tiny GBA screen. I do not know if you can pack a handheld console with enough power to do a good job at applying filters and shaders as modern emulators do but the idea is great. I would love to play my 3DS games on my TV when I am at home.
Releasing a console that is not up to the current generation is pointless. So Nintendo must publish a console that surpass the current generation to make a stand. Late for this generation will not work, early for the next generation may be a good thing since Xbox and Playstation will not release a console in some time. I really like Nintendo games but for a console to work they need third party games and since nowadays everything is multi platform, you need a console as powerfull as the rest to take advantage of the multi platform games. If Nintendo releases a console for this generation that it is not up to the current generation it will be the Wii U all over again. Most of the games for the other consoles can't be port because the Wii U is inferior.
Try Street of Rage Remake for PC http://www.bombergames.net/sorr_project/ 103 stages (between alternate paths), 64 enemies, 19 playable characters (SoR1, 2, 3), Battle Mode, Survival Mode, Boss Rush Mode, 30 unlockable extra options (like infinite ammo/endurance for weapons).
If you like SoR this remake is a blast. It has a lot of content and it is all free.
@UboaNoticedYou If you put it that way it is clear the hardware has some limitations to emulate GBA and DS perfectly. I had to check because I could not remember if GBC games were able to minimize to desktop, I had the impression they could not. Anyway I am still pretty sure a lot of people would love to have GBA and DS (as digital because hard copies are somewhat hard to find) in their 3DSs even if you lose some functionality . I do not buy VC games so I could not care less but it would be nice for some people.
The PSP could emulate perfectly GBA games so when it comes to 3DS having only GBC games, it is more about selling Wii Us than the 3DS is not powerful enough to run GBA and DS games. Hard copies of DS games works in 3DS without any problem but the digital version do not. Hard to believe. Unless I am missing something but as I said the PSP (the original fat model) could emulate at least GBA without problems.
I would love to see a character from Monster Hunter. It could be a generic hunter in low level armor with traps, bombs and some moves with the sword or even a Felyne/Palico with a similar setup but less serious. But since that will not happen I will go with the Splatoon characters.
I had played Shiren the wanderer, Chocobo's dungeon, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and a lot deal of roguelikes, so I will get this game too (along with the "new" Etrian Oddisey)
Check OpenRA for PC. It has recreations of Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert and Dune 2000. They added things used by modern RTS games like unit veterancy, fog of war and patrols, OpenRA is also cross platform (Windows, OSX, Linux, etc) and have a nice online lobby to play with others easily.
@TeeJay I was sure there was another one that only run on the New 3DS but I could not find it so I must be wrong about that. I am not saying MH4U is more demanding than Xenoblade Chronicles, I am just saying that they could use some tricks to manage such a huge persistent world without compromising the gameplay. A small downscale, mist or fog in the distance, smaller areas to keep the world persistent but not that demanding. If MH were to use a big world without "smaller" missions it would be more demanding, so they applied that trick to save resources. It is used in a lot of games. For example Peace Walker for PSP. It was impossible to make a whole level available without a single loading, so it each mission is divided in different areas. Yes, I know they were not designing a new game, they were porting but still.
So it started... if this trend continues, there would be a lot of exclusive titles for the New 3DS and a lot of people that were happy with their 3DS will have to upgrade. I am very suspicious of the capability of the 3DS not being enough, otherwise Monster Hunter 4 Ultime would be a N3DS exclusive.
For me 4 hours of battery is more than enough. I am not sure how many hours it will give you while playing Monster Hunter 4 with Wireless on, brightness to the max and full 3D, that is one of the few situations where I would like more battery life.
Nintendo needs to improve battery life on stand by. I like to be able to play and then put it on stand by without losing so much time of those 4 hours.
Atlus has a lot of good titles and on top of that they do discounts often. I have more from Atlus than any other series/publisher and every game is excellent.
I bought almost everything they have on 3DS. I am a big fan since Persona 2 for PS1. When I see that a game is from Atlus or is published by Atlus I already know it will not go below a certain degree of quality and I buy it.
@russellohh It is just like that, you can't move a piece if it will not cause a reaction but you can take a piece that after being swapped will trigger another reaction. If you have XXY up in one corner and down in the oposite corner you have YYX, instead of picking any X or Y from elsewhere, you can (and should) pick the Y that is with the Xs so when the swap takes place, you complete two lines of 3 instead of just one. That's the only strategic I found aside from taking the Pokemons with the correct type for the fight.
Like DarthNocturnal said, it is not a game to advance rentlessly and steady, take it slowly and you do not need to spend a single penny. I am enjoying it so far despite having to battle Togepi 5 times before I could capture it
Nintendo was the one that wanted to distribute it that way, if you go to Flipnote Studio 3D´s Facebook page, they say it would be better to release the game for free in the eShop so everyone could grab one. So it seems it was not their call.
Does anyone knows if the code work for Mexico? I am living in Mexico at the moment and my eShop is set to that and it seems it lacks Flipnote Studio 3D so when I try to redeem my Nintendo Club code it says the game is not available and suggest I check the release date, I assume the game was never released in the Mexican eShop which is weird because all the discounts listed here as North America are in the Mexican eShop as well.
Can anybody confirm that I can´t redeem the code? If I can´t and someone else wants it, I have no problem with sharing it but have in mind that if I can´t redeem it then only people at US or Canada can.
They will probably do the same they did with Pokemon. The codes gave you a mix of a demo/early access with things you can carry to the main game and a lot after the actual release they gave up the same special demo freely for everyone.
