There are numerous listings for everyday British penny coins asking £10’000. The price that someone asks for on eBay isn’t news at all, let’s wait to see what someone sells it at.

@UglyCasanova There’s something about the puzzles that they seem to tick over in your brain when you’re not playing. Many times I got stuck with a level and put the game down for a week or so just to return and get the solution straight away.

The average age of videogame players is in the 30’s now as well, and in my experience due to crypto buzz, financial independence and teens making a fortune with apps/TikTok/twitch I think young people might be into this, they all seem a lot more interested in business and finance than I was at that age!

@IGN_Commenter What, the people that showed there was a market for paying premium prices to own 25 year old Nintendo games were responsible for Nintendo releasing a premium service where people could stream them? Not sure I follow your logic there old chum.

@nukatha Or it’s a surface that is more scratch resistant than the base material it covers, or a surface that protects the screen from breaking in the first place by dispersing shock (which seems to be the case here)

@BloodNinja Ah to be honest I think we all just fall into the work that we’re able to do isn’t it? A difficult job for me would be sitting at a desk doing spreadsheets all day, as I’m sure someone who works in your area might agree! 😆

Reintegration and institutionalisation are real issues, but I think a bigger factor is the introduction of first offenders, young people and minor offenders to a more hardened criminal lifestyle through the people they meet in prison. Much more of a fan of prison diversion to community rehab, therapies and education programmes for this sort.

@BloodNinja There’s the added complexity of prisons in the USA being privately owned and applying significant lobbying pressure to lawmakers to apply custodial sentences (for example in the three strikes debacle), as opposed to the UK where prisons are state owned and the pressure is to keep prison numbers down while deterring crime. There’s some ideas around the North American prison industrial complex growing out of a need to replace free labour after the abolition of slavery that are interesting to explore as well.
I work as a forensic psychologist and the evidence is that prison itself is an effective deterrent but sentence length is rarely considered in committing a crime, and that without systems of education, rehabilitation and re-skilling prison does not reduce the reoffending rate.

I love everything about this game except for the fact I can’t survive for more than 10 seconds on the first NG+ and knowing I will never see the end of NG+++++ upsets me.

@Doofenshmirtz Big companies become and remain big companies by protecting their IP. Small companies become big companies by developing and protecting their own ideas and IP rather than stealing IP from other people. The laws that protected Nintendo in this case are the same that stop a big company stealing IP from a smaller one and driving them out of business.

@BloodNinja I appreciate your sentiment, but when you’re someone whose skin colour is something that is used to assault, abuse and discriminate against you, to the point of people like you being more likely to be killed by the police, then I think you might find skin colour to be a less trivial factor in your identity. We can believe that skin colour shouldn’t be a factor in identity, but that doesn’t mean ignoring that it very much is.

@BloodNinja Wouldn’t the more logical assumption be that they had access to an ion milling machine anyway, and just used it to do this as a bit of a lark, rather than someone having spent millions of quid on a machine just to draw a Diddy Kong?

Now we have toys advertising other toys to the young children playing with them. It’s a really ***** marketing move by Nintendo and I wonder if it falls foul of UK advertising legislation.

@Deminox Except you can play the same games at a higher resolution, higher fps, with quicker load times. Like the PS4 and Xbox Pro systems which by all accounts offered a substantial graphical upgrade to their originals.

Sometimes when I read the comments on articles like this I feel like the luckiest switch owner alive! 3 years of daily use and travelling with just a screen protector and a decent £10 hard case and it’s fine. The Joycons drift occasionally but I’ve found just clicking them down and wiggling them around fixes it. I do wonder if this is a scale thing, you make millions of units and 0.01% of them fail, then that’s still 1000’s of people who will be angry and complain on forums while the millions more just play happily.

@ImBackBB You could maybe see if you can pick the first one up cheaper and play that to get a feel for the humour, it’s extremely tongue in cheek and I doubt it’s treatment of any source material will be un-ironic. It’s also excellent.

@JasmineDragon Absolutely get it on PS4 if you have the option and don’t want mobile too much. It’s gorgeous graphically.

I’ve been listening to Stephen Fry’s Mythos, Heroes and Troy on audiobook, they really make you appreciate just how well versed the writers at Supergiant are not only in the original content of the Greek myths but in the themes that they’ve drawn on to write the narrative and interactions in the game. The story of Zagreus as told by Hades wouldn’t be out of place alongside Homer and Ovid, and that’s really saying something.

@GregamanX When you ‘finish’ it, you haven’t nearly ‘finished’ it, you’re really just beginning. I’m at 100 hours and have just got the true ending, and still have things to unlock. And it’s worth it, I promise!

@San_D Hang in there, you can do it! If you haven’t beaten the boss yet and only have the basic weapons then try the Rail with the Dionysus attack and cast, and extra Hermes dashes/speed.

Yeah pretty intense dude! But if you live the films then you owe it to yourself to play this, I’m a big fan of the franchise and the art direction is spot on. I’m a massive jumpy scaredy cat though so you’ll probably be okay.

@RPGamer I was surprised at just how much Alien Isolation reminded me mechanically of the original Thief games. It is also the most gorgeous looking game, I almost couldn’t believe I was playing it on a handheld.

@WesEds Yup, because Nintendo’s shop is digital. Physical copies are sold in other shops so you’ll have to wait for their sales. Although if you’re lucky the digital sale might cause physical retailers to lower heir prices.
