We get the feeling that Nintendo has plenty of titles still yet to be revealed for its 2020 lineup, but that doesn't mean that there aren't lots of games already confirmed. To remind us of that fact, Nintendo or Europe has shared a new infographic (via email newsletter) to highlight 20 exciting titles headed our way this year.
You can see them for yourself below; it starts with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore which is actually already available and includes some titles that haven't been given solid release dates just yet.
You can look out for any news or reviews on any of these titles by keeping an eye on our dedicated game pages. Any content we share related to these games will appear on these pages over the following months, so feel free to bookmark any that you're particularly excited about:
- Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
- Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold
- Darksiders Genesis
- Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Trials of Mana
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
- Pokémon Sword and Shield - Expansion Pass

Looks like we could be about to have another cracking year!
Comments (150)
Just got this in my inbox actually. Looking forward to Hollow Knight, Xenoblade and DOOM Eternal (although I'll be getting that for ps4).
Can’t wait for Silksong!
Trials of Mana and Xenoblade Chronicles are the games I'm looking forward to the most.
Rescue team, animal crossing and silksong for me.
Dmc3- yes, Pokemon mystery dungeon- maybe, trials of mana-Yes, outer world's-maybe, doom eternal-more than likely, silksong-more than likely
I still busy with adding more PS3 and PSP games during January until June 2020 but i think i still consider Animal Crossing New Horizon as Day One purchase.
Come on Outer Worlds. Curious about that SpongeBob remake.
Not listed: indie direct game Skellboy is due before end of January, i think.
RUNE FACTORYYYYYYYY
No Pikmin 4 means 2020 will be a bad year, no matter the game released.
Very slow first half we gonna have ! Excited for animal crossing though
Ninjala everyone forgets that game lol
@Hobbesyall always slow first half with Nintendo its grueling
@Nintendonerd12
Oh, yes. 😀
I forgot about Ninjala due to Spring 2020. 😅
Animal Crossing. That is all.
Not to seem ungrateful because it is all I've wanted for years.
@Hobbesyall I don't mind, my wallet has taken enough beatings haha. I'm finally slowly working on my backlog.
I really hope outer worlds turns out to be an excellent port.
Panzer Dragoon this winter ?!!
...I was hoping for early 2020 not close to 2021.
Unless they mean between now and March.
But I doubt it.
That's quite a line up and I'll be picking up a few.
@Arkin1988
Same, but when in the right hands ( Saber, Feral) ports can be spectacular.
Was this the January Direct?
I have seen a release date for Outer Worlds here in our country, but I don't know if that is their placeholder date or true release.
https://www.czc.cz/the-outer-worlds-switch/277508/produkt
Isn't Phantasy Star Online be 2 coming west on switch in like March? I'm excited to finally play that even though it's basically an old game now lol
I'm missing several big hits like Metro Redux, Bayonetta 3 and Yokai Watch 4, but it's a good list overall. Very exited for Trials of Mana, Outer Worlds, Xenoblade, Doom Eternal, Bravely Default II and Silksong (not bad eh)
There's no many first party games on this list, though. We need a Direct, Nintendo!!
why isnt the Fire Emblem dlc not include if the pokemon dlc and smash fighters pass 2 is included?
Doom eternal releases around march 20 cant wait to rip and tear.
@Arkin1988 me too, me too!!! finger crossed!
@Brumblescope I'am wondering the same... where da hell is our nintendo direct?
I’ve been following SpongeBob pretty closely, and this is the first I’ve heard of a date for it. This means I have at least one game every month until May! And that’s a good place to be
Snack world could be a real hidden gem on the system
probably going to be ether a February or March Direct
Pretty thin second half of the year so far.
Gonna be a good year. Hollow Knight, Smash fighter pass 2, DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade, and maybe Lego Star Wars if I can find a co-op partner.
@RiasGremory only on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia not on Switch till later in the year
An infographic usually isn’t a good sign... they usually send these right after a direct...
Curious about Panzer Dragoon. The rest are not my cup of tea unfortunately. Just played through To the Moon and Red Bow. Waiting for 198X and AVGN 1+2.
Silksong, Doom Eternal, and Trials of Mana for me!
May also pick up Outer Worlds later, I'm kinda iffy on RPGs like that. Also hoping for a port of Outer WILDS in the near future
I'm excited for Silksong and Panzer Dragoon.
i also love how hard they are pushing Darksiders Genesis. It could be just that the schedule is a little barren, but on the other hand THQNordic has supported the Switch better than just about everyone else
@KitsuneNight Panzer Dragoon is releasing THIS winter. As in, the winter that started one month ago. Should be out within the next 2 months.
At least that's what the devs have been saying on Twitter.
I wonder if Switch will get Devil May Cry 4? Looking forward to Spongebob, Outer Worlds and Darksiders the most on this list but also hoping for other surprises this year.
That infographic has majority old ports or non day n date games that are already out on other systems..
There's quite a few from this list I'll be getting.
Silksong
Doom Eternal
Xenoblade Chronicles
Trials of Mana
Bravely Default 2
Panzer Dragoon
The Outer World's
Hmm... this is the first time we've seen an exact date for "SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated" - I wonder if Nintendo Europe messed up? THQ Nordic hasn't officially revealed the release date, and May 24th falls on a Sunday
I'm most looking forward to Bravely Default II and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition off this list. Probably day 1 for the latter, which isn't something I do often.
I'm also keeping an eye on the Trials of Mana remaster but hope to play the original first. That purchase will be a ways out after it launches.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is still on my radar somewhat - I played and generally enjoyed the Blue version on the DS - but I'll likely wait some time for that one too. Plus the demo hasn't entirely convinced me to dip back into this spin-off series.
@Hobbesyall this isn't all the games coming. Nintendo always has their suprises.
Only games I want on Switch on that list are Bravely Default 2 and NMH3. And they have no release date
Do not have a pre-order game on Switch till March/April (maybe)
So happy to see Nintendo highlighting Deadly Premonition 2 on its release list!
@KitsuneNight Given where the Panzer graphic is placed next to the others, and that at one point it was due before Xmas, I think they mean in the next couple of months.
The Outer World's and maybe AC
Xenoblade DE is the way to go in this infographic. Just can't wait to sink hundreds of hours in this giant
@Anti-Matter What about Doom Eternal? 😉
Mystery Dungeon, Xenoblade, Lego Star Wars, SpongeBob, Doom Eternal, and Panzer Dragoon for me!
Looking forward to the second fighters pass too!
@RiasGremory Hell yeah! I can't wait for that game to release.
@teamdave2002 You shouldn't let something that you know isn't gonna happen ruin your year. We all know that Pikmin 4 and F-Zero are never happening... And that is depressing, but Nintendo just doesn't care, those games don't make them the money that they wish to make. Just so you know, I really want F-Zero, but I have just given up hope. If it ever gets revealed in Direct, it would be the best Direct I have ever seen. But just because F-Zero isn't there doesn't mean it is a bad Direct. Only when literally none of the games interest me that I am disappointed.
In 2015, Wii U owners would have been happy with a line-up like this for a whole year. Times have changed!
Looking forward to those rumored games later this year: the one starting with M and ending with D, and maybe even the one that starts with P and ends with N, depending on whatever they decide to add in as extra.
Besides that, Xenoblade and Animal Crossing are getting purchased for certain. I’m okay with this little “drought” with Switch games right now as I’m playing through all the Mario & Luigi games right now and am having an absolute blast. Knocked Dream Team out on my commute to and from work (and after 50 hours!!) and now I’m about to destroy Paper Jam (~26 hours), then on to Bowsers Inside Story and then Superstar Saga. (I might play Superstar Saga first before Bowser’s, not sure.) Contemplating buying Partners in Time too (used!) but we’ll see.
Anyway, point is, for those who don’t have a lot to play these next few months, I seriously recommend these M&L games; I’m having so much fun playing on my 3DS again.
@sketchturner
That's good to know.
I assume this was sent out as a way to talk some off the ledge until an actual Direct and a more complete roadmap of the year is given
I didn’t know No More Heroes 3 was this year. Interesting.
Direct Incoming soon I reckon. This will be to remind everyone what we already know about, before a slew of new info in a Direct.
Im still hoping to pick up Tokyo Mirage Sessions whenever I get round to completing Luigi Mansion 3 but there are so many other games on that list I'm excited for and to be honest I didn't realize just how many of them I wanted!
Snackworld,Panzer Dragoon,Deadly Premonition 2,Xenoblade Chronicles 2,Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Bravely Default 2 are the important ones for me.
List doesn’t include Metro Redux, Yokai Watch 4, Ninjala or Rune Factory 5. Hopefully Bayonetta 3 and SMT V are this year too. Chuck in a couple of big first party games along with rumoured stuff like Bioshock Collection and Saints Row IV and 2020 already looks very solid
Ughhhhh, Platinum has to be trolling with Bayonetta 3!! It's been brewing for a good while now and we still haven't seen jack pretty much. D: Haha, this wait is killin' me. xD
Out of this infographic though, I'm looking forward to DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: NH the most, with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon a lock still, too. Also should be grabbing Darksiders Genesis and Outer Worlds... and Snack World has my interest still as of now.
March is going to be a great month Pokemon & Animal Crossing.
I’ve been very good this year, only spent $15 on games so far! That trend looks like it’s going to continue with this release schedule. Only looking forward to Trials of Mana and Outer Worlds. I’ll give Animal Crossing a try, but can’t say I’m looking forward to it per se. Playing through Pikmin 3 right now on WiiU and loving it. Hopefully we will hear about a new installment.
@Lalivero I too clicked here hoping (beyond hope) to see Bayonetta 3 listed for 2020. Someday . . . .
@electrolite77 "2020 already looks very solid"
Your list of games not on this list is better than the games on this list.
Who made this, it's horrible? I'm not talking about the games itself, that's an other thing, but they aren't in order, and half of them don't have any dates at all. Vomit on a page.
"To remind us of that fact, Nintendo has released a new infographic to share 20 exciting titles headed our way this year."
@ryancraddock Did Nintendo say "This year" somewhere b/c the last 7 games on the list don't have dates, quarters or seasons. Are you sure they didn't say something like "this year and beyond"?
As for the games on the list - this might be my worst year of Ntineod gaming since the Gamecube released. What's that like 20 years? Fortuantley I think they have to have something else later in the year, heck Super Mario Sunshine HD at least, but also Bayonetta 3 which I've had pre-ordered on Amazon since 2018. Or something new and interesting.
I'm happy for all the AC fans, I know you've all been waiting 8 years since the last new mainline game, but that ain't me. Oh well, PS4 looks good 2nd half. How many more delays can they have?
Animal Crossing (for most of the year will suffice)
Xenoblade (I'm ready to re-complete it in HD)
No More Heroes III (for a little stylish distraction)
and Smash Fighters Pass 2 (the hype goes on)
I am totally getting Tokyo mirage, Darksiders, Trials of Mana, Outer Worlds, Minecraft Dungeons, Doom, NMH 3, and Silk Song. Stoked.
Animal Crossing for sure. I'll consider Xenoblade. I'll likely pick up "The Outer Worlds" on PS4.
Releasing this infographic makes me think a Direct isn’t dropping anytime soon. Sad face.
DOOM and NMH3 for me on this list.
I've barely been gaming the past year (didn't buy Pokemon and not much interested me outside that)... just waiting for that sweet, sweet Animal Crossing.
@ryancraddock You can disregard my previous comment, I saw the full infographic elsewhere and saw what it actually looked like and Ntinedo did say 2020. Maybe you should have included that "Coming in 2020" when you cut it in half?

For those wondering about the lack of games, or missing games, on the list, the bottom of grpahic small print reads -
And that's not all!
You can look forward to announcements throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled for more games joining this list!
Animal Crossing, Bravely Default 2, The Outer Worlds, Panzer Dragoon, Langrisser 1 and 2 and Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Bravo.
Deadly premonition though. Definitely most hyped game. Perfect balance of quirk, surrealism, horror, and small town. (In video game form anyways).
Doesn't really look bad. I'm personally looking forward to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Doom Eternal, Bravely Default II and maybe the Pokémon Sword Expansion if I buy the game this year
Hmm Nintendo forgot Little Nightmares 2 and Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Road To Boruto
Kinda glad I'm not too excited about anything on the list but the next Smash DLC so I can save my wallet. But I'll probably buy a game I missed last year like Luigi's Mansion.
Oh cool, I'm curious about Xenoblade's release wi- never mind.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions arrived today and already bought the Pokemon Sword expansion pass so that leaves the Smash Ultimate fighters pass 2, Panzer Dragoon and Xenoblade left for purchases out of rest mentioned in this infographic.
The big question is when the next general Direct is, I say general Direct because I could easily see an Animal Crossing Direct be announced tomorrow for example.
I'm worried we won't be getting a January Direct after receiving this infographic. If too many months go by without a Direct then they might as well wait for E3. I wonder if Furukawa made an executive decision.
Just Pokémon sword expansion and xenoblade chronicles HD for me
Smash Bros season pass 2?...
Only Doom Eternal for me, a game i'm getting for Xbox One X.
@Ulysses I'm thinking they'll have one in February. They're gonna show more Animal Crossing at some point; we barely know anything beyond what was shown during E3.
Disappointed that panzer is so far off! Thought that by showing it at E3 in June 2019 that it would be closer than winter 2020.
When are we going to get a release date on Outer Worlds? I need something to look forward to.
So my to buy list from this is
1. Tokyo mirage sessions
2. Pokemon expansion pass
3. Trials of mana
4. Bravely default 2
5. FF crystal chronicles
6. Xenoblade Chronicles
That is already a lot to play before any direct announcement. Completely ignoring my heinous backlog of course.
They could use some big announcement this year, Animal Crossing is the only game I really want out of that list.
So many games I want to get
No Metroid? Aww, I guess next year.
Kinda empty at the moment but we are just starting the year. So it will get better. Of the titles announced i want. Xenoblade. Doom and no more heroes. Bravely default 2 maybe and the smash fighters of course.
Really looking forward to Panzer Dragoon!
@ChromaticDracula I’ve also got Paper Jam on my 3DS backlog (along with Monster Hunter 4 and Hey Pikmin) and I usually spend one day a week focused on my 3DS to clear the backlog.
I personally had a blast with Dream Team - criminally underrated.
Really wish they would release NMH 1&2 on Switch. Also, some footage of OUTER WORLDS running on Switch would be nice.
People complainin' like 99% of us DON'T have backlogs numbering in the hundreds. Come on y'all, just get stoked!
I'll wind up buying most of these games on the list. What I'm most excited for though? Animal Crossing, Doom Eternal, Outer Worlds and the Xenoblade remaster.
That's a nice list of games, and Nintendo hasn't even put out their usual Q1 Direct outling more of the year, and announcing several titles.
And remember, we are only 20 days into 2020.
Think of all the new announcements that we'll have in the near future.
And I still have a HUGE backlog from 2019 to get to as well.
It’s really missing Kentucky Route Zero!
Can’t wait for Xenoblade Chronicles!
@Dakka-Dakka
😒🙄😑
You know i only play rated Everyone, Everyone 10+, Teen, CERO A & B, PEGI 3, 7 and 12 games.
Snack World, Animal Crossing and Xenoblade Chronicles for me from this list. Not on this list Fairy Tail
Feels like both Nintendo and Microsoft are going to show up BIG at E3 to make a statement with Sony's absence.
Meh, a couple things of note, but mostly a highly uninteresting slate of games IMHO. They need to come out with some banger announcements STAT.
Sounds like I'm going to be VERY BUSY this year. In order of priority I'll be playing
1-Xenoblade Definitive Edition
2-Astral Chain (I got so sucked into multiple Playthroughs of Fire Emblem that I never bought this)
3-Fire Emblem Three Houses DLC
It's going to be a busy year
Doom Eternal still being advertised by Nintendo at least. Still think it might not happen.
Great line up though. With a few more surprises yet to come - there will be - 2020 will still be a great year for Switch even with PS5 and x box series x hitting stores in November.
@rjejr As the article states that this is a list of games coming in 2020, and that the graphic was shared by Nintendo, I didn't feel the need to include that very same message displayed in the image. Apologies, I thought I was pretty clear.
We expect that the games listed without dates will receive confirmed release dates as the year progresses.
Animal Crossing for me!
It seems like a pretty small list when you consider this is what' we've got for all of 2020 right now because we are lacking a direct, and not much here from nintendo themselves.
Animal Crossing. everything else is icing on the cake.
I only care for Hollow Knight Silksong Tbh. Its my most anticipated game.
@ryancraddock Yeah, not your fault, just Nintnedo being Nintendo. Who makes an infographic that long and thin, did they hire this guy?
@charlieonholiday really great to hear that! I absolutely adored dream team as well. The battle music is still stuck in my head and I don’t think it’s ever going to leave. Paper Jam’s not so much but still cool. Really excited to hear it in bowsers and superstar saga. But yeah, dream team was sooo good but I will admit it got just a tad annoying toward the end just having to fight your way through every. Little. Obstacle.
@Grumblevolcano "an Animal Crossing Direct"
I'm not the least bit interested in ACNH, but with the game due 2 months from today and as little as we've seen of it, since they did DIrects for Pokemon DLC and SSBU DLC then a full game like ACNH really should get it's own Direct. And probably before we see a full Direct.
Though if we get a full Direct first, well maybe that infographic can be improved upon. That can't be all they were thinking of when they ditched separate home and handheld development for Wii U and 3DS for 1 set of Switch games. Surely there are at least 1 or 2 more big ones for 2020. Zelda BotW 2 even.
Only plan on picking up Xenoblade, but if SMT 5 comes out I'll be getting that too.
Between FF7R, P5R, Xenoblade DE, Ghosts of Tsushima, and Cyberpunk I'll have my hands full.
Please have a nintendo direct out already, Nintendo.
Also really curious whether or not we'll see BOTW again in it and a release year.
@Ulysses I don't know why some people are thinking we have to wait til E3 for another direct. Nintendo has NEVER did their first directs after April. I know there's going to be some kind of direct before April it's just a matter of when.
@mesome713 There is no confirmed Metroid in the making besides Prime 4 and since its development got restarted, I wouldn't expect it until at least next year. Less likely but if lucky, they'll announce a release date for this year since it said that more games can join the list.
@Kainbrightside I'm always curious what games they're going to bring out.
@ChromaticDracula agreed. The ending of Dream Team was a bit padded, but considering I picked it up for £10, I got my money’s worth and I still think it’s very underrated.
I’ve been waiting 7 years for Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition, so that’s the one for me.
Honestly not much I care about on this list. Hope there are a few surprises in store, otherwise it'll be a pretty boring gaming year for me. But I guess that would be fine so I can work on my backlog.
Edit: Maybe I exaggerated a bit. Xenoblade and Silksong are definites for me, as is the SSBU Fighter Pass 2. I'll very likely pick up Animal Crossing, as well. And I'm interested in Trials of Mana, Bravely Default II, and Doom Eternal.
1. Animal Crossing
2. Xenoblade Definitive edition
3. Pokemon Expansion Pass
4. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
5. The Outer Worlds.
Already have Tokyo Mirage Sessions.
I just never play Smash, so unless I have friends who want me to play with them, I wont bother with the next expansion for now.
There are a couple other vaguely interesting games on the list but most are just not for me. Glad to see such a nice mixture though.
LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga sounds amazing based on the hands on impressions I've heard thus far
Apparently it's completely open world and you can tackle the films in any order by travelling to the planets where certain plot points take place
That sounds incredible
While not on the list i am definitely looking forward to Trails of Cold Steel III in spring, other than that Trials of mana has me very exited and im looking forward to learning more about bravely.
Battle for Bikini Bottom sounded good till I read it was Spongebob xD
@KBuckley27 doom eternal for switch is releasing at the same time with the other console versions dude.
Seems like I'm in the minority, but I'm actually really excited for FF: Crystal Chronicles. Only played it a little when it originally released, and the summer release date makes it perfect to play through online with my friend. Really hope it is an early summer release.
Only 20 games? There are much more major games coming than that!
As you can see, there are many Switch exclusives in general, but only two of them are first-party upcoming releases (Animal Crossing and Xenoblade). I wonder if there will be more 3rd party exclusives yet to be announced.
Third-parties are the biggest number here, but there's always room for more. That part is what is leaving me more intrigued, since I expect some third-party announcements for the next Direct, hopefully Subnautica
1 Silk Song
2 Outer Worlds
3 Doom Eternal
4 No More Heroes
Thats it for me in 2020, few other smaller games to fill in the corners.
If those Bioshock rumours are true then I'd definitely jump on that too.
I don’t see Wario Land on that list...
Got a feeling Black Friday is gonna beat me up again this year.
This is shaping up to be another amazing year for switch and we haven't even gotten a direct yet! Spongebob releasing on may will make for an excellent birthday present for myself hehe
Pretty poor list I think. They better drop that direct soon, or they’re going to be steam rolled by next gen.
I'm kind of interested in Bravely Default, but I never actually finished the first. Panzer Dragoon is the only definite buy for me.
I guess this is the year I go through my Switch backlog...
Pre-direct/E3 announcements, of course
Im looking forward to dipping back into Animal Crossing. The game im really looling forward to tho is FFVII Remake.
Hoping that Shovel Knight Dig is released this year also
Just Xenoblade for me. I’m getting doom on pc
Smash Bros. 2nd Fighter Pass and maybe...... The Sword Expansion but that's a hard maybe...
No source in the article.
So many terrible game journalists out there.
PS. We know it's Nintendo, but from where?
Was NL emailed this? Was it on a Nintendo website? Was it twitter? etc etc. Also which branch of Nintendo sent it. The rumour is Nintendo fo Europe but the article here doesn't say.
Very poor journalism indeed.
@the8thark I mean, do you need to be so aggressive with the comment? A polite clarification request would suffice. Anyway, the article is updated to make it clearer to you that it was sent via email, from Nintendo.
Really hope crystal chronicles will be a real remake not just a hd remake. Can't wait for the next hollow knight!
@Nintendonerd12 I dont. I really want to get that game!
It's a good thing my backlog is immense at the moment because I'm not excited about a single game on the list. I'm not saying I won't buy any of these, I'm just saying nothing is blowing me away.
I'm also not disappointed either. There's so many good games to play right now.
I really hope at some point Nintendo throws a curve ball and remakes the golden sun series, or just a new entry in general. I'd also like to see Dragon Quest 8 and 7 hit switch.
@RiasGremory
I believe he's correct according to what the developer has last stated. Look no other than our very own Nintendo Life for the article:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/10/doom_eternal_has_been_delayed_and_the_switch_version_is_the_most_heavily_affected
Also an article on NintendoEverything today states Switch version later, apparently not much later but no announcements to make at this time.
Pretty good list for me, especially seeing as we don't know the first party line-up for the year yet, i'm personally interested in most of the games on here bar Animal Crossing, but i'm most excited for Darksiders Genesis, the Spongebob remake and Panzer Dragoon, but very much looking forward to Doom Eternal, the Pokemon DLC, Snackworld and Minecraft Dungeons too, it's going to be a fantastic year for the Switch i think, i've got a feeling there's going to be some huge announcements for it this year
How did I not hear about Crystal Chronicles Remastered? Might end up giving it a shot now.
@ChromaticDracula I'm a huuuuge fan of the M&L games, have been playing them on release since Partners in Time. The interesting thing is that I was actually pretty disappointed with the last two entries so the fact you enjoyed them and still have yet to dive into the first three is very exciting! I hope you love them, PiT and BiS in particular are wonderful
@antdickens
There was no agression. Secondly you do need to be assertive with your point. If you are take the softly softly, over polite approach, nothing happens. If you want positive change, you need to demand it. Just like in other areas of life.
