Back in early 2018, The Darkside Detective brought its humorous point and click adventure to the eShop. We quite liked it, though felt that its heavy focus on pop-culture and jokes from the '80s and '90s would fly over younger gamers' heads.
It's full of personality, and its sequel - initially dubbed as 'Season 2' - was successfully funded on Kickstarter. Now it's known as The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark, and is heading to the eShop on 15th April. Check out some details and the trailer below.
Delouse your room with sage and pack up your travel-sized ouija board, it’s time to re-enter Twin Lakes - America’s 34th most haunted city. Join Detective McQueen as he puzzles his way through 6 chilling cases, risking life and pixelated limb to solve the macabre mysteries that plague the poor town.
This could be a fun arrival next week, are you tempted?

Really enjoyed the first entry, looking forward to the second.
Also I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since the original.
Another intentionally ugly game.
The jokes in the first game were great. Still smile thinking about some of them now
I remember the original for it's great jokes, and nothing bad. Except for having to get US currency on my US account because it for some reason vanished from the EU eshop. Don't know if it ever returned? Or maybe the European eshop is just one of the most haunted digital stores.
@Poskito I still have some stored as video captures on my Switch, because I love them.
No doubt this'll be an upcoming Super Rare Games release then, since they did the first game already.
I approve.
Was kind of interested until I saw the thumbnail of the YouTube vid. Can we all move on from Lovecraft/Cthulhu Mythos? Please.
It's going beyond "scraping at the bottom of the barrel" now it's literally making a large crater in the earth...
I am not a fan of point and clicks at all... but I LOVED the first one.
@ImBackBB Lovecraft is public domain.
@ImBackBB You could maybe see if you can pick the first one up cheaper and play that to get a feel for the humour, it’s extremely tongue in cheek and I doubt it’s treatment of any source material will be un-ironic. It’s also excellent.
Surprised so many people liked this one. I played it after Thimbleweed Park and was pretty disappointed.
Was the first game free on PC initially? Or, maybe it had a long demo.
I can't believe it. I helped the kickstarter. Got the key. This means I should be in the credits
