Update: And it's official! Nintendo has shown off LEGO Luigi in a brand new trailer and opened pre-orders!

Original Article: Last week, a firmware update for LEGO Super Mario (yes, plastic bricks now have firmware, people) caused the plumber in red to begin calling out the name of his lankier brother. You didn't need to be a Mensa candidate to understand that a Luigi set was on the way, but a listing on Amazon China has now revealed all (thanks, Nintendo Everything).

As spotted by LEGO site The Brick Fan, LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi (set number 71387) features a lily-livered Luigi very similar to the interactive, talking Mario figure, with Bluetooth connectivity and little screens that enable his eyes and mouth to animate and interact with various pieces and enemies included in the various sets.

The new set includes various figures — including a cute pink Yoshi — and will interact with all the existing LEGO Super Mario sets. According to the listing, this LEGO Luigi set is due for release on 9th July, so we'll be keeping an eye out for listings in the West and more information over the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, here are some product shots courtesy of Amazon China:
