@Incognito: I've earned well over 50.000 stars since they launched the star system in Europe, so it's not that hard if you've been buying and registering a lot. I only have 4600 at the moment though, hope they don't run out before I get enough!
Yup, this was a Nintendo of Europe flash game about 2 and a half years ago. Been waiting a while for this to be released, hope they update and release their other old flash game as well!
@Retro-Commando: Trust me, there is absolutely no way you will beat any of the last 10-15 stages within 10 attempts. That alone will keep you playing to try and beat them.
One of the best shoot 'em ups ever in my opinion, pretty much only bested by its sequels which were never released outside Japan. Really hope Konami throws it on VC eventually!
@Link79: It probably got a sequel because Sunsoft took a gamble and made Aero their mascot as well - So they pretty much had to do at least one more game. Thankfully that turned out better.
@madgear: Yup, that's right, the Mega Drive version of Lemmings was published by Sunsoft and they threw in some Sunsoft stages. Here's a video of the stage you probably thought of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbDfD0xP1tA
Square Enix has renewed the brand on the European trademark registration site with its original European title (Mystic Quest Legends). As there haven't been any other Mystic Quest titles since we're pretty confident that that means it's for a VC release!
If you want to check for yourself go here and enter "Square Enix" into the Owner field.
@WaltzElf: I don't mind when a puzzle game has some genuinely puzzling stuff, but there's a fine line between "puzzling yet fun to figure out" and "too puzzling and not fun to figure out," and this game leans way more towards the latter.
@Cipher: Very weird, those aren't listed in the press release they sent us. I'll assume it's correct and add them to the news though
@SoulSilver IV: Well, Nintendo of Europe is based in Germany, so technically the date is correct, since the Wii Shop updates exactly at midnight for them.
@6ch6ris6: 1. Yes, you can go anywhere you've already been without having to replay stages. 2. As others have said, during gameplay, controlling your envelope uses the touch screen only. 3. The RPG elements really just come down to the customization of your envelope and ball, nothing more. 4. No clue, to be honest, almost every single DSiWare game uses the touch screen!
As others have already pointed out, a game doesn't necessarily have to appeal to everyone to garner a 10/10. I think it's pretty clear if you read the review that if you don't like strategy games, you might not like this, because there's a lot of character tweaking and other micromanagement involved.
I personally don't really like Fire Emblem, which is also more in-depth than my favourite strategy titles (Advance Wars, Shining Force), yet somehow I still love this game.
This seems to work a little bit differently in the rest of Europe - I got a PR from Nintendo of the Netherlands, and they say the first X people to register the game on Club Nintendo will get a special figurine.
I finally picked this up recently and love it because it's practically a perfect port. It's also the only way to play the "original" RE1 on a Nintendo system.
Yeah, I guess I must've missed the touch-screen controls, because the game seems to get "locked" on whatever you use first - If you start a game with button controls you can't switch to the touch screen mid-game, and vice versa. Duly noted and amended.
I liked the SNES one (One of Titus's only good games) so it's a bit disappointing this version's this bad. Guess it's time to hunt down a cartridge again!
Super Famicom Wars is pretty much the same as Advance Wars, just without a campaign and without CO Powers (Although all characters do still have unique bonuses). It's pretty fun.
@KillTheHaterzzz: We already played this on PC in December, so it was very easy to run through again and review quickly. The Exidia review should be up later today as well.
@Tranguz: For some reason, neither of the ReBirth games so far have been released in Italy and Australia. If you want them you can simply change your Wii's country to a different European one and they'll be there (But you'll lose all Wii Points you have so make sure you've got 0 before you do it).

Re: Review: GO Series: 10 Second Run (DSiWare)
@piguy101: It'd be a bit easier since you wouldn't feel rushed, but some of the jumps you need to make are still pretty damn hard.
Re: Review: GO Series: 10 Second Run (DSiWare)
@Retro-Commando: Trust me, there is absolutely no way you will beat any of the last 10-15 stages within 10 attempts. That alone will keep you playing to try and beat them.
Re: GO Series: Dark Spirit
It's part of the GO Series in Europe, and part of the G.G series elsewhere.
Re: Review: F-Zero GX (GameCube)
Trying to get 100% makes this one of the hardest games ever made, but I somehow managed to do it. Never again!
Re: Review: Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy (Super Nintendo)
@edhe: I have a complete (EU) copy right here and the manual actually calls him Crapper!
Re: Parodius
One of the best shoot 'em ups ever in my opinion, pretty much only bested by its sequels which were never released outside Japan. Really hope Konami throws it on VC eventually!
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - August 2010
@StarBoy91: Everything's controlled with a regular controller.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - August 2010
This should give you a good idea of what Clock Tower is like.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - August 2010
I was seriously under the impression it was English - I guess every single screenshot and video online is from a fan translation!
Re: Review: Petz Hamsterz Family (DSiWare)
Yeah, Rensch, it does! (Guinea pigs are also the superior animals)
Re: Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
And it's now OFLC rated, so it is most definitely coming!
Re: Review: Aero the Acrobat (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
@Link79: It probably got a sequel because Sunsoft took a gamble and made Aero their mascot as well - So they pretty much had to do at least one more game. Thankfully that turned out better.
Re: Aksys Calls 999 for Western Translation
Didn't this get a perfect 40/40 from Famitsu? Pretty excited if this is the same game I'm thinking of.

@Mama_Luigi: You didn't see that

Re: Review: Robin Hood: The Return of Richard (WiiWare)
I'm serious when I say that I hope someone with the proper equipment pays the price just to record the music, I seriously want MP3s.
Re: Illusion of Gaia
I think my posts are in grey boxes because I created this game page. I am planning on reviewing it though!

Re: Wild Guns
@BlueFlameBat: Any old games we add for reference or a retro review go under the retro section, not VC.
Re: Mega Man 10 DLC Round-up Part One
@MrPinguy: I mentioned both of those, actually
Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April 2010 (Europe)
@Mahew: No point getting Showcase until we get the retail game, is there? Neither will be out until April 30th.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th March 2010 (Europe)
I did indeed miss the Game & Watch titles, when I checked the DSi Shop around the usual update time, no new games had been added yet!
Re: Ogre Battle 64 Hits Europe This Friday
Not Friday though, Blaster Master's probably next week.
Re: Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
Sin & Punishment was actually already mostly translated for a planned western release which never happened. They released that version.
Re: Rathalos Figurine Swoops in on Monster Hunter Preorders
This seems to work a little bit differently in the rest of Europe - I got a PR from Nintendo of the Netherlands, and they say the first X people to register the game on Club Nintendo will get a special figurine.
Re: Review: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (DS)
Clearly, the best new character in the game is a certain new detective from case 4.
Re: Hanabi Festival 5 to Happen Soon?
Super Mario Kart isn't an import, why would it appear in a Hanabi Festival?
Re: Review: Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (DS)
I finally picked this up recently and love it because it's practically a perfect port. It's also the only way to play the "original" RE1 on a Nintendo system.
Re: Review: Dracula: Undead Awakening (DSiWare)
Yeah, I guess I must've missed the touch-screen controls, because the game seems to get "locked" on whatever you use first - If you start a game with button controls you can't switch to the touch screen mid-game, and vice versa. Duly noted and amended.
Re: Prince of Persia to Include SNES Remake of Original
Yeah, the SNES game is actually the best version of the original Prince of Persia.
Re: Review: Prehistorik Man (DSiWare)
I liked the SNES one (One of Titus's only good games) so it's a bit disappointing this version's this bad. Guess it's time to hunt down a cartridge again!

Super Famicom Wars is pretty much the same as Advance Wars, just without a campaign and without CO Powers (Although all characters do still have unique bonuses). It's pretty fun.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th February 2010 (Europe)
@Xkhaoz: Ok, you got me there!
Re: Review: Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (DS)
@Swerd_Murd: I'd say Ouendan 2 is the hardest in the series, especially with the invisible beats turned on.
Re: Review: Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 5 (WiiWare)
@KillTheHaterzzz: We already played this on PC in December, so it was very easy to run through again and review quickly. The Exidia review should be up later today as well.
Re: No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
@Brainhost: Pretty much right after the game was announced Suda 51 said Europe would get both a censored and uncensored version.
Re: Ai Chō Aniki
Yes, but that only means it's even better!
Re: Review: Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (DS)
@ V8 Ninja: I meant to write a review shortly after the second game was announced for Japan, but just didn't get around to it until now
Re: Review: Happy Hammerin' (WiiWare)
I don't think it's too much of a surprise that this turned out good - It's the same developer behind 42 All-Time Classics/Clubhouse Games.
Re: Nintendo Download: Tomena Sanner, Happy Hammerin', Dragon's Lair, Miami Nights and Texas Hold'em (EU)
@Tranguz: For some reason, neither of the ReBirth games so far have been released in Italy and Australia. If you want them you can simply change your Wii's country to a different European one and they'll be there (But you'll lose all Wii Points you have so make sure you've got 0 before you do it).
Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
@KeeperBvK: Not by the OFLC!
Dr. Mario hasn't been rated by anything, has it?
Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Getting Long Overdue Western Release
@Objection_Blaster: It is Nintendo's reasoning, I assure you!
Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Getting Long Overdue Western Release
@SSBF: Pretty sure the menu and tutorial were the only things planned for translation originally, all dialogue is in English after all.
Re: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Getting Long Overdue Western Release
@SSBF: S&P was originally planned for western release, the English menu and tutorial are simply remnants from the original English translation.
