I just got a reply from Mr. Samejima (One of the Nigoro guys) on Twitter saying that they have to get a "new standard regulation" for the game, basically, I think it means that the USK rating was for an old version and there is some new stuff in it now which they also have to rate.
@zranoll: In fact, the entire game has been redesigned so as to be a lot less retro in terms of having to search around a ton, stuff is a lot more obvious now, you can get hints everywhere, you can record the writing on tablets to take it with you anywhere, etc.
On the official blog during development they specifically asked players what parts of the original game were too confusing or illogical so they could make them more understandable.
Resident Evil 4 did have it's share of creepy moments like the sewers and the hedge maze, but those were few and far between. Resident Evil 5, I'm sure anybody else who's played it can agree that it doesn't have a single scary moment throughout the entire game
Also, we played this with headphones, which is clearly going to be the way to go for maximum immersion.
It really doesn't matter to me - I'm buying the game new, and since it's almost completely highscore-based I doubt I'd ever want to wipe the data anyway. I think people are getting a bit too worked up over this.
@Omega: It's pretty brutal starting out, but honestly, once you get past the first one or two areas you'll be completely hooked, it's my personal favourite indie game ever. Since it doesn't give any help in regards to gameplay whatsoever (The WiiWare version will though) this might help as well.
I don't think there's any delay at all - European Wii/DSi shop updates happen around midnight and count as being on the next day, so since it's being released in the evening for North America, it may just mean Europe will get it at the same time, which would be around midnight.
I haven't actually played it myself, but I know there's a section in the game where you have to answer trivia questions correctly, which would obviously be complete guesswork without a language you know.
A Steam release could easily happen, but one sign that it may be for VC instead is that Steam has yet to receive a single import game, all MD games available (About 40) were released in the west.
@Banana_Jane: Although Faxanadu was actually released before Zelda II I think the comparison is completely valid, aside from the lack of an overhead overworld, the games are similar enough to be comparable. Plus, everybody knows what Zelda II is like, so that can be used to explain what this game is like more easily.
To be honest, I don't think we're going to be seeing any more Commodore 64 games. There haven't been any since the Last Ninja 3 debacle even though four of them were rated before then, so they must've given up or something.
Sega's also not showing much effort anymore either, I would expect some more arcade games from them, but they seem to be trying to throw all their Mega Drive/Genesis games on Steam (There's already a few on there not on VC).
@bezerker99: I'm not exactly surprised about there only being two moves, I'm just stating there are. A lot of other, later shmups have a whole bunch of other stuff you can do (Aiming behind yourself, smart bombs, etc.) so of course some people may want to know that.
Easily within the top 5 DS games I've played, and that is saying quite a bit. I feel like some special mention should also go out to the awesome soundtrack, which is by the same person who did the music for the first Phoenix Wright (It's actually also only the third soundtrack he's ever done, the second being Viewiful Joe).
There was a piece of artwork released a while ago which had outlines of a few unrevealed characters, them being Barry, Wesker and Rebecca (I believe), which pretty much confirms this will have every character from 4 and 5 (Gold)'s Mercenaries mode (+ Claire).
I believe the Japanese release was a regular Famicom title, so I have no idea why they pulled the save feature. Perhaps to save on cartridge costs? They also removed the ability to give your character a name, and some crosses on and inside the churches.
@Retrogamer: That is technically true, but Xanadu pretty much became a series of its own. It's similar to how Wario Land was really Super Mario Land 3, would you really call the rest of the Wario Land games Super Mario Land ones?
@Bass: The western version removes an ending sequence with some dialogue, but all the characters are still there and they still have the same names as in the anime.
@Odnetnin: Honestly, DK64 has always been a pretty unlikely release, not only does it include a Rare game (Jetpac), but it also includes the arcade version of Donkey Kong, which I don't think Nintendo would like to release basically for free as a bonus with another title. I wouldn't be surprised if it never shows up!
@Raylax: There's only two OFLC rated games that been rated for ages but haven't come out yet (World Heroes 2 and Strider), so for the most part they're pretty reliable.
The USK almost never rates VC games (So these being on there must be an error on their part), but when they do, the games generally get released.
@zkaplan: I just discovered that these are in fact just the two games North America got with different names, so no entertainment for a while just yet!

Re: Wii Budget Range Grows with Super Mario Galaxy and More
I just got an email from Nintendo of Europe, Europe will get Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy only.
Re: Zelda Symphony Concert Hits London on 25th October
I was expecting it to be in Germany, in which case I would've gone, but I'm not going to the UK for this.
Re: Nintendo Download: 4th August 2011 (Europe)
@bboy2970: I'd be more worried about the fact the Wii Virtual Console hasn't had a new game in just about 2 months now.
Re: Talking Point: The NES Games You Want on 3DS Virtual Console
Much like the GBA games I think they'll keep these to Nintendo games only, so:
Re: Talking Point: The GBA Games You Want on 3DS Virtual Console
@BulbasaurusRex: Just type an asterisk and put a space next to it to make a bullet.
Re: Talking Point: The GBA Games You Want on 3DS Virtual Console
I think this is probably very likely:

Re: Just Why Is La-Mulana Taking So Long?
We've notified Nigoro of the USK rating on Twitter, so they should be looking into it right now.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles is Coming Early, UK & Europe
@mariofanatic: They've done it before, Another Code R and a bunch of other games were tested by NoA for Europe and never saw a US release.
Re: First Impressions: Resident Evil Revelations

@Luffymcduck: Yes, all of those are still on track for Q4 2011!

Re: Review: Donkey Kong (Game Boy)
@Bass_X0: Fun fact, guess who made those
Re: Donkey Kong
@melechofsin: That wouldn't work for this one, it only got colour when played on a Super Game Boy, not a Game Boy Color.
Re: Review: Super Adventure Island II (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
@Omega: If you die, you simply appear back at the start of the island you're currently on. You can save, but there's no passwords.

Re: La-Mulana Hits Japan On 21st June
@Link79: Nicalis didn't really have much to do with this one, they're the publishers, but Nigoro was almost entirely responsible for the development.

Re: Super Adventure Island
Well, just like the person he's based off of!
Re: Review: Bomberman Hero (Virtual Console / Nintendo 64)
Bomberman just doesn't really work in 3D if you ask me - Stick to 2D gameplay!

Re: Review: S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team (Virtual Console / NES)
@WarioFan63: Well, Taito owns Lufia, but SE owns Taito, so yeah.
Re: Review: S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team (Virtual Console / NES)
@pixelman: Only published it, and in North America only. Neverland was the developer, and Square Enix now owns the franchise.

I for one, am disappointed in this man.

Probably because they're not zombies

Strange, those demos weren't up when I checked.
Re: Ghosts 'n Goblins
@cowboy: I think you're misremembering how NES games look
Re: Brawl Brothers
The European cover disagrees!
Re: Mission in Snowdriftland Opens for Christmas Business
If I remember right, 4 years ago, getting all collectibles in every stage got you wallpapers and music for Mission in Snowdriftland itself.
Re: Review: Frenzic (DSiWare)
@Ickaser: Just extra score and stuff, from what I've played the circles seem to get them completely randomly.

@StarBoy91: A short game means a short review
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (Europe)
@Ratengo: Days, of course
Re: Review: chick chick BOOM (WiiWare)
@Imerion: It's basically the same as 2 player, except with 2 players on each team - One handles attacks, the other draws the defensive/support lines.
Re: Super Meat Boy May Skip WiiWare and Head to Retail
Sorry, but I'm getting it on Steam either way.
Re: Review: Addams Family Values (Super Nintendo)
All eight.
Re: Mario Party 2
This is why they won't release the first.
Re: Even More Virtual Console Titles on the Way
@Bass: The western version removes an ending sequence with some dialogue, but all the characters are still there and they still have the same names as in the anime.
Re: Even More Virtual Console Titles on the Way
U.N. Squadron is definitely not possible, it's based on a Japanese anime called Area 88 (Which is also the game's title in Japan).
