Re: Genesis Noir Is Bringing Stylish Cosmic Jazz To Switch Next Week

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@COVIDberry
Also I missed the breasts so I couldn’t get all disturbed they were bigger than mine! err I mean umm. He hee.
I only care about the science anyway~~ def missed the name in the vid, I was Easter egg hunting. Wondering if the gold/gun etc had some Rutherford connection since I can’t think of anything else at the moment.

Re: Genesis Noir Is Bringing Stylish Cosmic Jazz To Switch Next Week

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@COVIDberry
Me too- This hits a bunch of favs.
Noir, science (cosmo too!), love triangle, jazz/improv!...
Science Girl is cautiously interested~

There are almost too many red flags though, so I hope it is just science humor:
See:
-“Before the Big Bang” (although BB is descriptive more than prescriptive so proscribing time may be an overreach; in common use BB is the time origin and in being writing “before” is not unlike South of the South Pole.)
-“Massive vs microscopic” (false dichotomy, yes yes other meaning of massive but that is sloppy)
-“Deterministic universe” (ok, this could be an in game mechanic; but sadly even many professors in physical sciences are unaware Laplace’s demon is weaker than Maxwell’s- put in another way: we do not live in a deterministic universe)

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

@BloodNinja
Thanks! Upon looking it was “Final soldier” that I was thinking of- but I like super/blade just about as much (musically) too. The naming of those games confuses me so I just throw words at a search engine.
~~I couldn’t check out the link before, very thoughtful though thanks~~

The music sounds different in a let’s play- with all the f x. Etc. but I’m glad to know clean tracks exist!
The defined bass line Like in Rondo of blood with ..?16-bit drums? And sythin melody is great for mentally demanding flow-focusing.
Super star soldier’s older sound makes the layers easier to parse, although more 8-bit/?? pixel-ish (for better or worse)

For more mindless tasks (e.g. barefoot preg sci-girl in the kitchen making sauce or series solution separable linear differential equations )music like Shostakovich, Satie, Beethoven is great (when not relaxing with sweet saxophone heavy jazz )

Hope any other readers also checkout these games available in a number of places! ~Sadly Image Fight II has been removed from the VC... sad yoshi sounds.

Re: Random: Forget Fat Pikachu - We're All About Wide Link

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@screechums
It’s hard to get on board with “doomed”- but to take your point further I’ll add:
It’s this way with music too...
Old CDs have little art books!
And the digital purchases both are not able to be passed on, as in if a spouse dies at 25 with a huge “Shared” backlog- or shared music/book/video library it’s gone for the other spouse (or anyone else).

Also, reading the agreement almost all such purchases have, the limited digital copy permission can be revoked at anytime by the publisher.

Sure, “they can’t reach into my xyz...” argument works (for) now, but such claims mean the one making them agrees that user end piracy is ok if the company does them wrong.

Re: Random: Forget Fat Pikachu - We're All About Wide Link

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@KateGray
-spoiler alert Zelda games:
No- Gannon is just a giant leg! Of course you wouldn’t know since you never play the last castle.
Thanks for the article.

It seems wide link is just an artist trying to accommodate the NES Zelda 1-square link graphic. Oh dear I’m boring.

The Wii U had scanned manuals for many VC games. This might seem like no big deal, but archives of scanned manuals online could be seen as £!€^$¥...

  • -not trying to start that debate.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 13th)

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Vapeguy
That 3DS Metroid got me to buy a 3DS and I was not disappointed! It was even a bit of a challenge to run it fast enough for the best time window too! (Glitchless)

I played the original (game boy Metroid) on 3DS when I got it, it was great too! (Though just making a map means the second run is fastest window right).
I like the isolation feel of the original, but the clear story in the new one helps make up for the teaming with life and excessively glorified brutality in the QTE. I just look past it as a gimmick like the ocean of giant boobs in other games.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
Awe gee! so Image Fight II making the flight-sim (aka game) within a game aspect would also fit for the metaphor but only a refined ninja like you would understand

Also @BloodNinja: Sad to inform you... I feel like such a bad scientist girl...
That whole throwing star thing has hit major setbacks. My grad student was not reading the data right.
I determined a workaround. Looks like at best:
For all throwing items use all caps
Throwing stars: use a “ * “
Throwing knife: use underline

I can send you relevant journal articles on making matter form from high energy density physics and photonics, but this is a reach...

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@X-blades
Yeah I was confused by this at first too. I think our dear author equates having more disposable income due to personal circumstances with a societal shift.
I can’t afford a switch and I’ve gladly played the same games over and over. Watchout... this backlog stuff looks scary

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
Per your time management... you are an A+ to science Girl.

Stump talk made me consider something: The soldier series had one with the best music of all shump-dom.. I think it was number 3 super star blade soldier??? Hope you know it.
So I have the “let’s play” vid running whenever I bring the labs high-vac helium cryostat down to operating conditions...
Point being, listening to a game’s music is another example that the “ending” is a component of a composite structure as much as the music is. On the other side, every time I stop the music I “end” there too.
Oh no everybody is right

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@KillerBOB
Yes, “normalize” should be left to the professionals as it is getting used so loosely goosey. Science Girl will help clear it up: normalizing is a way to rescale to a dimensionless magnitude e.g the normal vector, which has direction but no change in magnitude or dimension (units etc.)

Re: Feature: Best SNES RPGs

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Beatrice @kickerofelves
Thanks for the thought~
On the Secret Mana game, I think kickofelves is on to why it has aged a bit: the multiplayer aspect-
Though there were other oldie simultaneous multiplayer games, Mario kart and Secret Mana were actually good although games of the time; but the group play was a major draw - maybe?
I could be way off.

(Pardon if I missed a similar comment I am lost on what many of the bigger gamers are talking about)

Re: Feature: Best SNES RPGs

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
No problem: Science Girl is developing multiple forms of throwable metals for you in the lab! You will need an Ethernet connection...my lab director thinks it’s a new ceramic-bonding photonics experiment. For now...

Re: Happy MAR10 Day, Everyone!

Dr_G_Lemaitre

I don’t always celebrate fake holidays....

but when I do I decorate my 3DS home screen for an hour when I should be processing samples late into the night at the lab...

Re: Happy MAR10 Day, Everyone!

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@TheFrenchiestFry
Thought we’d get a silly like the below analysis from you on the All Stars:

Law route: don’t buy on principle
Chaos route: Pirate all the stars
Neutral route: do something productive or get a new game

...so buying is which route ?

Re: Anniversary: It's Super Mario RPG's 25th Birthday!

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
Must check out even a let’s play vid- never tried this oldie!
~Love the sax too; I played some strange giant bass sax in orchestra as a kid bc I was the only sax player athletic enough to have enough wind or maybe they figured I’d carry the coffin of a case without crying... It was bigger than me!

Glad to know it helps me on my path to true ninja-dom.

Re: Netflix Joins Mario's Doomsday Celebrations, Will Remove Super Mario Bros. 3 Cartoon On 31st March

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@COVIDberry
Thanks for the look out~~ On Emily’s Wonder Lab (my comment was intended in jest about gathering around a 3DS but it might be written poorly)
Since I’ve seen only a few episodes as the babysitter that were excessively kiddie but not bad (strictly) I still cannot truly endorse this program or cite its errors without more info.

  • but Science Girl agrees kids of ages 9 and up will enjoy spectroscopy! 8 yr olds, due to their degenerate state hate spectroscopy with a burning passion that consumes on the same order it emits; their passion Leads an unjustified hope that their energy levels are not quantized...

Re: Soapbox: Why Do People Love Games Like Stardew Valley And Animal Crossing?

Dr_G_Lemaitre

There has been talk these games (AC, Stardew, etc. ) Have no wrong way to play - Yet the evidence of this is often descriptions of players using these games within the anticipated parameters of the designers and simply not maximizing efficiency etc.

Perhaps many games fit this type, and many do it better...
Don’t many other games fit the play it your way ethos better? for example:

Didn’t anyone else wander the halls of Metroid pretending to be a scientist and never using the weapons against any creatures? You can bring animals through the doors in that game and thus have a “pet.”
There is even hidden out of bounds areas in this game to explore.

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Kr96
It’s a nice thought- strangely ports are shifting towards games from last year right?

As much as last gen games are nice, things at least Wii/Ds age trauma/EO 3 seems better and much older hard to access IPs the best for ports eg that 90s hacker redux treatment on a saturn game.

Thanks for the titles to check out.

Re: Hate Zips? Then This Magnet-Powered Nintendo Switch Carry Bag Could Be For You

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@pixelpatch
Double compliment?
First on technical matters and then, isn’t “sir” the title of a knight? Has Dr_g, aka Science Girl, risen to the level of awesomeness- in line with her towering intellect, adorbs bangs, and endless humility- to finally become a pegasus knight like Sumia and Caeda! Yeehee i wana horsey!

...
Ps don’t ruin my moment with a more reasonable explanation.

Re: Hate Zips? Then This Magnet-Powered Nintendo Switch Carry Bag Could Be For You

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Damo
Hope my lil’silly was clear to be “ ‘against’ “ the maker and never you.

Your prose elicit such levity I had to join in.
Particular was the “...traditional zipper [included on back] phew! “ line.
Green tea was spraying out my nose!
Thank you so much for writing here, it is always stellar! I was in a cosmology journal club so I know about stellar writing

Re: Hate Zips? Then This Magnet-Powered Nintendo Switch Carry Bag Could Be For You

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Azuris @ZeldaFanboy78
Yes as a real scientist, backing up Azuris here though its a nuanced issue:
Screens and magnetic drives (like HDDs) are the most susceptible, solid state electronics (SD cards , chips) are the least though it varies with the tech involved. Analogue (circuit bits) is mostly about induced current. As in some screens are almost impervious to “refrigerator” magnets. Magnets are being used more and more with laptops etc. as the balance skews toward them being harmless (if not too strong) after all a strong muon from a cosmic ray can erase your memory too- but most cosmic rays are weak like most magnets.

Re: Hate Zips? Then This Magnet-Powered Nintendo Switch Carry Bag Could Be For You

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@Damo
(Author?)
In the name of James Clerk Maxwell! These scoundrels are trying to pull a fast one-
Science girl is obliged to point out it is a well known fact that a magnet can do no work; further power is related to work in that here each is the dot product of the given force.

Now, since the orthogonality of the magnetic field is the matter at issue; it requires only a bit of reading in Jackson’ Electrodynamics to conclude this device may operate, but is in no way powered by magnets.

Thanks for the fun site NL!

I’d love you reviewing the 3ds Louvre game and commenting “abs/no abs” on treasured pieces! Too silly
>and to your good taste>
@nhSnork
Nice pic again! Given your pics you must have fantastic taste!
Any tips for starting this genre/series? As in Rune moon valley season.. erm? Old games w/o QOL are good with me. I felt like I was Derpy doing a literature review on which was worth trying. The IP swapped hands, other intrigue.. then i was distracted by adorbs animal sprites, it was all over.

Honestly who doesn’t want a digital version of AJ’s farm and family?

Re: Random: Sakurai Has Figures Of Upcoming Smash Fighters But Hides Them In A Drawer

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
You’re right as always! That would be crazy. Microscopes and x-ray diffraction spectrometers are no use- way too zoomed in.

I’d have 10x size max on my ninja pictures on the lab wall next to the glove box so i can dream of heroic exploits while doing spin epitaxy for organic electronics... Err i mean. Thats what some crazy fan would do... umm.
Free smash! More FE sword peeps!
I have got to get out of the lab.

Re: Blaster Master Zero 3 Explodes Onto Switch This June

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@ChromaticDracula
Sry meant to say~ Agree on BM & Metroid! You must have great taste, good looks, and a towering intellect like me!!!
The BM series, where the tank can eject at-will added so much. Best series!
Metroid had the Justin B code so it sold me as a game with a “girls’ mode” he he; but that let it grow on me idk. I think there is character choice in BMZ2 so best of both series?

Checkout Blaster-M-likes:
-Panzer paladin / metal warriors
(Removable robot armor games)
-Moon Chronicles (3ds/Ds) for a 3d shooter with a bit of dis-mountable rover.
Though this is more common these days (IDK)?
-Wiiware BM overdrive
Amost as good as the NES game (sorry only 4 pirates like sunshine and FE1 soon )

Re: Blaster Master Zero 3 Explodes Onto Switch This June

Dr_G_Lemaitre

Great series & pricing!
Love BMZ BEST remake/boot whatever
-Replay with “Hard mode” which made it about as tough as the classics but with saving.

Love NES & GBC BM games too!
(yes they are different games, same assets, and a few new mechanics; think mario 1 vs mario 2 (Japan))

Sadly I have not played much BMZ #2! Its been my “reward” for a big project at the lab.
Science takes too long. Hold on, my frog got loose. I’ve got to get it out of a pit outside...

Re: Here's What Arby's Shovel Knight Launcher Tokens Unlock In-Game

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@BloodNinja
Awe- who am I that the fierce shinobi of my shogun master would visit such gracious words upon me?!
Science girl is always ready to team with BloodNinja if you need me. You ninja-ing stuff while I apply a systematic line of repeatable analysis. It’s better than Mario and Yoshi! ...though i imagine you...” work alone” (sigh) so from behind my adorbs big bangs* i wait longingly doing important looking things in my lab as my every heart beat is for our next rendezvous... Fly like a dragon Bloodninja~~

Eek no refs! What kind if scientist am I?
I know I’ll use a foot not to add cred.

*Foot note:
If you liked me here dearNinja, i was a bit more scientific though not as loquacious on “Anniversary: Nintendo Switch...” explaining a hypothesis relating to morphology in human cases.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Switch Launched Four Years Ago Today

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@rjejr
Oops Yeah typo-

In case it was confusing: i was saying if we “all go shirtless” my lady bits may get a bit of a reaction.

Most clearly-
Scientific hypothesis: Mean Positive Reaction (MPR) is directly proportional to angular displacement of areola exposure (radially outward) and mass of adipose tissue proximal to mammary gland but inverse to subject’s BMI.....

Re: Random: Nintendo Ironically Celebrates All Mario Switch Games With Fans, Weeks Before Wiping Some From Existence

Dr_G_Lemaitre

A quote proving big companies are beyond criticism on business choices:
“I happen to represent Enron here in Houston. We have many good corporate citizens here in Houston. Enron happened to have been one.” -Lee

I’m not on a “side” here- many parents way back when considered the SNES to be a dirty move too, yet many here love the SNES. It’s ok for us to have diverse views right?

I’d buy FE1, but i can’t afford a Switch so I’m over it.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Switch Launched Four Years Ago Today

Dr_G_Lemaitre

@rjejr
Between the fan art & system folders you must be quite a smart person ... computational algorithms agree, thinking like me means people must be smart!

@Anti-Matter
It’s good helping us all smile through this- and full circle ... those Beatmania [...] food-critters are homeless without any folders!

“Finally my time to serve is here” -Wii U (with dozens of folders rescues Switch by porting each folder for only 9.99 )
