Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off New Area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

@Wolfgabe

No, I mentioned the fact that Watchdogs had slowdown and was a sales failure because I didn't understand the point you were trying to make by bringing that game up in comparison in the first place.

That Watchdogs had slowdown and was a crappy game somehow excuses Zelda from having bad frame rates on the Wii-U??

It's as nonsensical as you bringing up how 3DS games look bad on YouTube when we are discussing the Wii-U 😂

@Wolfgabe

More mental gymnastics! Love it!

Why are you comparing a Wii-U game to how a low-res 3DS video appears on YouTube? Those things have nothing in common.

Mario Kart 8 videos looked nice and smooth in Nintendo promos on YouTube. As did SM3DW. And DKC:TF.

This game looks like it is chugging in comparison to those.

And who here is saying that the Switch version won't run better than the Wii-U one? I don't see a single person saying that, and I'm sure most people (myself included) believe it it will run better on the Switch. It has too, right?

But again. Running better on the Switch doesn't absolve Nintendo of the fact that 13 million Wii-U owners appear to be getting the shaft when it comes to their version of this game.

But hey, don't take my word for it. I'm sure tomorrow there will be many articles on various gaming sites (maybe even this one?) pointing out the shockingly unacceptable frame rate.

@Wolfgabe

Of course you are. You are excusing Nintendo for putting out this game on the Wii-U when the system itself appears to be unable to handle it.

When Ubisoft or other developers release games like this they get shredded, but you give Nintendo a pass? Gimme a break.

I feel bad for the guys making this game, who are having their vision handcuffed by inferior hardware.

It has nothing to do with 'stream quality' either. It's an offical promo video made by Nintendo. They aren't going to show a game running at 15-20fps if they could have shown it at 30fps instead.

That would be like a Burger King television commercial showing the Whopper like you would order in real life. All mashed up with wilted lettuce and grey meat.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off New Area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

@Wolfgabe

Ya...it's kind of silly to expect that the console the game was originally designed for the past 3 years, runs the game in slo-mo. What is everyone thinking?!

The mental gymnastics you take to defend Nintendo at all costs is truly mind boggling.

How could Nintendo think showing the Wii-U running this game in such a poor state would be a good idea??

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off New Area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

DonaldTrump

@IceClimbers

Haha keep believing that! They have been working on the game for 3+ years already. They don't spend all that time producing a game at 15-20fps then in the closing months punch in a few lines of code and magically bump the game up to 30+fps while retaining the same game size and graphics which were causing the slowdown.

Remember when Nintendo kept putting out videos of this game months ago that only featured 1 or 2 small enemies on the screen in barren environments and told us it was 'because we want to keep surprises'? Well now we know the truth. The game runs like crap when there are several medium/large enemies and detailed environments on screen.

Re: Video: Take a Look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's New Trailer

DonaldTrump

@KirbyTheVampire

I was just about to say this!

The official trailer looked great and showed a 'living' world for the first time, with various characters and towns shown. It got my hopes up!

Then I just watched some new gameplay on IGN...wow...it looked like it was chugging at 20fps or less. No wonder all the previous videos Nintendo showed took place in barren wastelands with 2-3 small enemies. It looks like this game is pushing the Wii-U to its technical limits and it doesn't look good at all.

Hopefully the Switch version runs this better, or it will be very disappointing.

Re: Reggie Confirmed For On-Stage Appearance At The Game Awards 2016

DonaldTrump

@Emperor-Palpsy

Reggie 'my body is ready' Fils-Aime is one of the most awkward public figures working for Nintendo, and that says something.

@ricklongo

Reggie isn't and never was a CEO for Nintendo. His current position with Nintendo is the ambiguous title of 'executive officer' for Nintendo of America, a job that he is annually reappointed to, which means he's expendable.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo, the NES Mini and Ongoing Stock Problems

@PlywoodStick

Tom and Damo aren't the syncophants. It's the users in the comment section who are saying Nintendo would never intentionally limit supplies to increase demand (which they have done before) or those saying there is no way Nintendo could have known this would be a popular item.

Nintendo dropped the ball big time on this.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo, the NES Mini and Ongoing Stock Problems

DonaldTrump

@cleveland124

Hahaha exactly.

Only a Nintendo sycophant could make the great mental leap to argue that retailers are actually happy NOT having to stock the NES mini as it saves them shelf/floor space!

It's like a movie theater not wanting to show the new Star Wars movie next month because they want to save screens for other releases. Absolutely absurd thinking on the part of several posters here.

They defend Nintendo as a company as if it is a confused old man who doesn't know what he's doing and every action can be explained away as an accident or 'not his fault'. Nintendo is a smart, calculated company that plans every action it takes months and years in advance. Not someone stumbling around a dark hallway making rash decisions.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo, the NES Mini and Ongoing Stock Problems

DonaldTrump

@Peach64

Nah, you are wrong this time.

The NES mini was trending on Twitter and drawing far more online interest than those other niche games you mentioned (who anyone in their right mind knew were not going to be big sellers).

And I would hope that Nintendo also did some marketing and focus group studies to gauge people's intent to purchase and interest in the product. And again, checking online reactions, the response was overwhelmingly positive and massive. Almost at Pokemon Go levels following its announcement.

If Nintendo can sell tens of thousands of shoes with NES character designs on them, surely they are smart enough to produce a million or more of the Mini, a $60 impulse buy which would no doubt sellout during the Christmas season.

This product not only appeals to the current fans of Nintendo and gaming, but people in their 40's-30's who have moved on but would want one to relive the nostalgia, if only for a few hours use.

Re: The Famicom Mini Passed a Quarter of a Million Sales at Launch in Japan

DonaldTrump

Comparing the sales of a $400-500 console to those of a $50 'toy' as if there is any relevance? It's apples and oranges. One is a major investment which will require further purchases (games) and the other is a throwaway, one time buy.

"Considering the fact the Famicom Mini isn't even a 'new' system in the conventional sense, the numbers seem impressive."

Maybe you should consider the fact that the Famicom Mini isn't even a 'system'?
