You didn't expect that an official Super Mario game on Apple would be the top grossing app less than 24hrs after its release? You thought it might lose to the 2-3 year old Candy Crush?
If you didn't expect that, I don't know what to say. It seemed quite obvious that would happen.
Unfortunately everyone ignored the flight attendants' request to turn off all electronic devices during takeoff, and the electrical interference caused the plane to drop out of the sky.
Just find it funny how on here when analysts or investors say something positive about Nintendo they are great people, but when they criticize Nintendo, they are know-nothing morons who don't know what they are doing.
They knew several months ago these games weren't coming to Wii-U but didn't/couldn't say they were moving to the Switch until it was officially announced. You think these cancellations were rash decisions?
Did you hear about the massive tsunami that hit Japan a few years ago? No?
Apparently it happened in Japan at 1pm local time, and the rest of the world never heard any news about it because we were all asleep. I only know about this because a friend in Japan told me. If not for them, there would have been no way to hear about it.
The whole premise of Thomas' article is completely ridiculous.
Because gaming/news websites in North America are unable to direct people to watch the announcement "live", it will somehow negatively affect their ability to report on it? Thus hurting the Switch's marketing?
What a load of crap. Events happen all over the globe at different times, and it will be reported on the very next day/news cycle. CNN, newspapers, websites, blogs, etc will all load up the very next morning with coverage of the Switch reveal. Just as they do when earthquakes and terrorist attacks occur while we are asleep.
News exists in a vacuum and can only reported on the exact moment it takes place. After this happens, all record of said "moment" will be wiped from the internet, and no one will ever see or hear about it ever again. No one will ever know the Switch exists because Nintendo has chosen not to announce it at an hour when most in the UK will be awake. Sad.
The 'issue' could be that the game was being optimized during development to run better on the more powerful PC/Xbox/PS4 which left the stone age Wii-U in the dust?
When Project CARS announced it wasn't coming to the Wii-U everyone here was losing their minds (nevermind the fact very few of them would have even bought it), calling it 'fraud' and wanting the developers head.
Now when Playtonic does it? Everyone seems to be happy about the decision and can accept it.
Really? This kid can clearly not legally consent to anything.
Not Scrooge either. It was great they gave him one. They didn't need to broadcast it to the world to stroke their own ego though. Check the comments on YouTube. People who go to school with him are talking trash, people are making jokes, etc.
And an obviously 'not all there' person was put in an uncomfortable situation that they clearly didn't understand, was recorded, then the video posted online (to benefit the employees) without their consent, which has since led to online jokes being made about them. Could also lead to teasing and harassment in real life now too.
Ya...totally worth it!!
Next time look at the bigger picture. This video will live on in those 'cringe compilation' videos for all eternity now, all through no fault of the kid playing the Wii-U.
I haven't seen Jimmy Fallon this excited since that time a celebrity told a horribly unfunny anecdote on his show and he clapped his hands and did a big fake laugh then started pounding on his desk.
I don't want to rain on your parade, but you also argued vehemently that "Madmen Football" had the potential to be a good game and wasn't an obvious sham.

It didn't come to Android on launch because Apple gave Nintendo a payout for exclusivity! Very obvious!
Re: Super Mario Run Races to 50 Million Downloads
@Tyranexx
50 million downloads, not paid users! Well over 500,000,000 iPhones/iPads out there. Not a large percentage! Do the math!

@Damo New York Times posted editorial about 'sexist' Super Mario Run game! Surprised you haven't posted about it on here yet. Right up your alley!

Millions of free downloads! Not making as much money as anticipated! Disappointing. Nintendo dropped the ball!

Who are these people? There are several hundred million Apple users! No one doubted this. You are making up things. Stupid!
Re: Pachter Says Switch is the Easiest of the Big Three to Develop For
Just as I've always said, the Nintendo geeks on here dismiss Pachter when he's critical, but trust him when he's pro-Nintendo. Totally bias!

Overpriced! Market on IOS is saturated with free games. People don't want to pay $10. Not nice!

Cheap Chinese junk! 6 levels for $10? RIPOFF! Very disappointed!

Re: Super Mario Run Currently The Top Grossing iOS Store App
In less than 24hrs a highly anticipated app is the #1 download? Shocking!
In other news, analysts (boo!) predict that Star Wars: Rogue One will be #1 at the box office this weekend!
Re: Nintendo and DeNA Shares Tumble as Investors Show Super Mario Run Revenue Fears
@Ryu_Niiyama
I think they are more concerned with the relatively unheard of $10 up front cost rather than no (as of yet) in-app purchases.
Only time will tell if that pricing model was the right one.

Not really.
The stock value will most surely level off again.

Re: Nintendo and DeNA Shares Tumble as Investors Show Super Mario Run Revenue Fears
@Baker1000
Shhhhhhh!
Don't bring up the "$10 is too much for an app" argument, as that will only rile up the "but you have no problem paying $5 for a coffee!" crowd 😩
Re: Nintendo and DeNA Shares Tumble as Investors Show Super Mario Run Revenue Fears
When Pokemon-Go released, stocks rose and it was reported on here with a positive slant (mind you, stocks dropped again soon after).
When Mario releases, stocks drop, and it's reported on here like the investors are morons and don't know what they are doing.
Interesting.

Will you play this game, even though the only playable character is a cis white male?

Not that hard to figure out.

I didn't buy a single Wii-U game all year, but had no idea how pathetic its release schedule was for 2016 until I saw it written here.
That was baaaaaad.

It's a nice thing they did, but I agree with you. This was 50% charity and 50% exploitation to make themselves look good.
As for the rest of the post, don't drink the bong water.

Re: Video: Watch Jimmy Fallon Play Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch
The Switch version looks so much better than the Wii-U version, I'm happy to say.
The explosions and the camera panning were silky smooth, where on the Wii-U they were marred by slowdown.
