I pre-ordered the game, but not the gamecube controller adapter, which is proving to be a real pain the ass to locate at a non-hiked-up price. Will just have to be patience on that one.
I would have happily bought all three if Nintendo's VC prices weren't so offensive in my territory. Nevermind, i'll just keep them on my wishlist until they are either discounted or I give in
@Caryslan The Last of US and GTAV remastered may be old and worthless to you, but not to a whole lot of other people who have yet to play them and what better way to enjoy those excellent games than in remastered form? I am not saying your point of view is wrong, I'm just saying value is subjective and to many people PS4 and X1 are worth the money. I am however in agreement with you on Sony's exclusive offerings being a let down. Prior to launch they promised 100 exclusive titles within 12 months of system launch...where the hell are these titles?
I really would like to support this game for WIi-U, but what Unique features is it bringing to the table? I have this on PS4 already and I have to say I found it to be a bit of a snore fest. This is tough as a part of me wants to back a major 3rd party release for Wii-U, while another part of me wants to tell Ubisoft where to stick their their game for being worse dirtbags than EA in general. As it stands I will buy the game so long as they've made good use of the Wii-U controller.
Well Reggie has to say this doesn't he? I like the Wii-U, but in terms of "bang for yer buck" it could be a whole lot better and Nintendo really could have done a lot more to market the system. More units sold means more publisher/developer interest, means more games, means potentially better value for us. The only saving grace for Wii-U (other than the solid exclusives) is the fact that games are largely shipped in complete form and are free of season passes and patches as big as the game's themselves.
Vita certainly is a fine handheld and I love it, but it really doesn't compare to 3DS when it comes to software library. As for the Wii brand being a shadow of it's former self - they have a point and Nintendo only have themselves to blame for that.
Biggest problem Wii-U has is that it is priced above the casual market (ie. not an impulse buy price) and doesn't offer enough to hardcore gamers in terms of both hardware capability and software. Complimenting this device was lack of marketing (which they needed alot of), abysmal 3rd party support and sluggish reaction from Nintendo to do anything to invigorate sales when it was really needed. Despite all this, it's a great machine. It has excellent exclusive software and can deliver technically competent titles in the hands of a developer with the time/resources to do so. Biggest problem for Wii U has been Nintendo themselves IMO - they really needed to be more pro-active in generating awareness/interest in Wii-U. Also it wouldn't have hurt if they gave it a tad more grunt under the hood for the sake of ease of development and giving the system a longer life span. I give the machine itself a solid B and Nintendo's handling of the Wii-U an E-. I have no regrets owning a Wii-U, but even in it's current state it could have and should have done better!
Can't believe there's talk about DLC before the game is even out lol. I'm fine with a complete game, that doesn't want to milk my credit card with dlc and micro transactions. Sad times when this kind of news is a breath of fresh air.
@Heiki That's 100% the key. So long as the Gamepad's use is not forced and Gimmicky it can be a great thing. When it's forced and more cumbersome than fun to use, nobody wins.
I think the. Gamepad is what makes the WiiU the Wii U. As I have said before I hope they find more innovative and fun ways to use it and less gimicky tiresome ways of forcing it into games. As long as they use it where it makes sense and offer alternative controls where it makes sense it cam be a really cool thing. I'm just glad the Wii days of waggle to jump etc are behind us.
Enjoy the gamepad and its great they're still looking at unique ways of using it. Just hope they don't force it where it doesn't make sense and offer alternate controls wherever possible. It broke my heart how many good games on the Wii were compromised due to forced waggle where it made better sense to just press a button. That being said priority for me is software quality - creative gamepad use is important, but secondary to me,
Game production and publication is an expensive and risky business. Alot of the blame lies with Nintendo for producing a console that doesn't accommodate third parties and is behind the curve in alot of areas such as dev tools, online framework amongst other things. The only hope they have to attract 3rd parties is to rapidly grow the userbase, but that isn't going to happen when the console doesn't have games/hardware to attract most of the hardcore and is too expensive for casuals to consider. It's not the responsibility of 3rd parties to take financial risks in order to make the Wii U a success. Nintendo has chosen a conservative path for the Wii U and the price to pay is having limited support for the platform. I am ok with this as Wii U isn't my only system.
Not a huge fan of the obnoxious characters and their design, but the gameplay looks fun. Itagaki is a perfectionist and has a good track record, which makes me somewhat interested.
I think the art direction is great and also practical. Lets face it, Wii U's hardware doesn't exactly accomodate realism (especially with the standards expected by people today). That 2011 trailer was great, but this art style opens up a lot of possibilities and what's more it will still look gorgeous in 10 years time and the visuals in that 2011 trailer will be unimpressive by then. Really looking forward to this game.
@Yorumi Agree with you regarding your comments on skyrim to an extent. I by far prefer Oblivion to Skyrim - even if it was a step backwards from Morrowind and has less features than Skyrim. The world was far more interesting and colourful. That's one thing I am looking forward to in this new Zelda game...colour in an open world game. Who would have thought it possible? lol
Appreciate the honesty and respect to Ubisoft for sticking with the Wii U this long. I own Watchdogs on PS4 already, but am willing to be open minded about the Wii U version if it uses the unique features of the Wii U in a cool way and pushes the Wii U hardware a little.
@Rafie @EarthboundBenjy Word. I would be down for as many cup dlcs as they could release. As an oldschool fan of the SNES original I would literally pay anything to see most of those tracks brought back as dlc. Doughnut plains was so well done in MK8 it left me wanting more...alot more.
So what does that mean for people like me who already have rayman on the Vita and who were intending to purchase legends for the Wii U? Can I get the legends content as dlc for the original version? Even so I still prefer a Wii U version 5 levels isn't the biggest deal even if in principal this whole situation stinks.
@Yamagushi There's nothing wrong with used games. The majority of games made are poor products, that offer little value for money. It's no mystery why the used market exists. There are alot of people who trade their games for new ones after beating them in 6 hours. The industry shouldn't cry when products don't meet ridiculous sales expectations or that people trade them for new ones. Innovate, adapt to the times, make better products or fail. We are paying the price for their failures and are being told it's our fault.
I'll be buying the Wii U version of this. Was considering the xbox version, but the xbox one has left such a sour taste in my mouth, that i dont want to give them my money.
I highly doubt ts been overclocked that much. There would be alot of malfunctioning and melting Wii Us. That being said any performance enhancement is welcome
The Wii U is not a Dreamcast. Sega didnt have the money to push the system and scrapped it and reinvented itself in order to save the business. Nintendo is an incredibly healthy cash rich company, they will be fine and even if the Wii U sells in Gamecube numbers theyll still be profitable and maybe even more so with the digitalmmarket place they have established now. Lets not forget Microsoft has really dropped the ball with the xbox one, which is a good thing for Nintendo. People maybe likely to oick up a ps4 with wii U as a secondary system. Im turning my back on xbox after a 10 year love affair with their restrictive online drm, lesser focus on gaming and weaker than ps4 hardware. Ps4 + wii u for me this gen and the money i dont spend on M$ will go elsewhere.
Looking forward to the game. I couldn't care less for sonic's friends just take full advantage of the wii u's unique features and make it more along the lines of sonic generations and colours and less like shadow the hedgehog.
@QuickSilver88 Agree about your point regarding diminishing returns. Ill be able to build a pc with better specs than ps4/nextbox without going for top of the line hardware. I'll wager my present gaming pc has the capability to outdo them. It comes down to games at the end of the day. i'll get my 3rd party fix on other consoles and pc and Ill use wii u for its exclusive and unique games. The fact that wii u can handle ports of late 360/ps3 hardware out of the gate is a positive not a negative when you compare those games to launch titles on ps3/360. The "slow" wii u interface is also less laggy than my 360 dashboard which seems to only run smooth offline and with an empty hard disk. ok now ive gone on too much of a tangent. haha
It's still early days, if things are still the same in a few years time then we can declare the system a flop. People seem to have short memories of what other console launches were like. I dont think Nintendo is competeting in the same market as sony and m$ and truthfully I think the hardware is perfectly fine for Ni tendo style franchises. Losing EA is a big deal as far as business gos, but not the end of the worldm- especially for people purchasing the wii u for its exclusives such as myself anyway. Nintendo just needs to push the system with marketing, refine its online strategy and get some exclusive games. They dont need to beat ps4 and xbox sales, they just need to establish.a healthy market presence and cater to the systems audience and it will be fine and more than profitable. All this doom and gloom nonsense gets old fast.
Its a good little system one just needs to take it for what it is. It wont be for everyone and thats fine. Get. little tired of people who have never played it before bashing on it.

In all honesty I think LoS 2 is a pretty good game and nowhere near as bad as the gaming press would lead one to believe.
My favourite 3d Castlevania game is still Lament of Innocence on the PS2, with a few tweaks it could have been a 3D SotN IMHO.
