Re: It Sucks To Say It, But Castlevania Requiem Isn't Coming To Switch

Cobalt

@HobbitGamer

They are making a REMAKE in FULL HD !
Nintendo PORT Wii U games which are already HD to Switch...

It's not the same at all AND games like Chi No Rondo or Symphony are not games that were available on the previous system as new games... NO, it's old SD games remake in HD.
Resident Evil 2 remake follow the same logic... but in 3D...

Nintendo choose the lazy way to port, Sony put money on the table to let Capcom or Konami to bring HD experience from SD cult games.

Hope you're gonna get the big difference buddy... ^^

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@SDF_Macross77 I understand that, no problem.

My vision is more like, I have a time to work, I have a time for my friends and family and I have a time to play.

Ok that's a personal way of thinking but I almost think that people who bring video games at work are not really focused on what they have to do.
I'm not judging, just it seems not normal to me to bring a console at work, the same as bringing food in the bedroom... Maybe it's a question of generation dunno...

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@Balta666

You underestimate the propoganda around the Switch...
Trust me or not but A LOT of people own a Switch because they heard that it's the stuff to have to be in... :/
They heard that they "needed" to have a system that they could/should/would take on the go etc...

The good sells that the Switch have made were mostly due to the publicity... Basically Nintendo has become a kind of "Applesque" brand today...

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@Balta666 It's insane how the "on the go" argument is always put in front of everything else. I just ask myself WHY then, I never cross a person with a Switch outside playing an RPG or something else.

The last months, I've been in several places in France, I went to Luxembourg, to Germany, to Belgium, to Switzeland etc... I never met at least 1 person with a Switch outside.

I remember how easy to find the gameboy owners, the GBA owners, the DS owners, less the 3DS owners but still... BUT Switch owners ??? I never cross one of them... never !

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@maruse

Ow I'm not saying that my friend.
What I'm saying is that I don't understand people who almost ignore a title when it's not available on a Nintendo platform BUT when the same game, even downgraded, comes to Switch THEN it's like they HAVE to play the game.

You know, I'm probably a basic man but what I know is, when I want to play a game because I like it, I play it ! Simple ! ^^

I don't care that the game is on PC, PS4, Switch, whatever... If I like a game, I play it.

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@kobashi100

Dunno MAYBEEEEE because I'm tired to have nothing new to play on my Switch ?

Because, it's almost a scandal to see how many people never play those games (DQ XI, FF XV, WO FF etc..) BUT MAGICALY the same people are pumped to play'em on their switch.

It's so childish that I have almost some kind of tenderness for them.
God, if you like these games, if you're pumped to play them, if you think that they are good games, like me you already have played them !

So my point was, when Draque XI will be available on Switch, I'll be probably playing Draque XII on PS5...
And the worst thing is that "the version of Draque XI" that I'd already played before will be better technically than the "newest version"... :/

So yeah, someboby like me had nothing to play between Xenoblade 2 to Octopath Traveler (kind of 7 months) and now I have nothing to play between Octopath and Yoshi (kind of 10 months)... That's sad but true... :/

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

@kobashi100

Do you work at Nintendo or Square Enix ? I'm asking because I'm always surprised to read "players" talking in priority about sells...

Like the most important when we talk about video games are the sells...
Man, I dunno how much it's gonna sell but what I know right now is that I have a blast with the game.

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Cobalt

After FF XV, after World of FF, now it's the turn of Draque XI.

I'm playing Dragon Quest XI right now on PS4 and it's wonderful but like the other games that I'm talking about just above, DQ XI is gonna be shrinked, is gonna be reduced in term of visuals and probably even in term of size...(thanx the cartridge)...

But whatever, when DQ XI will be available on Switch, everybody really interested by this game, will have finished it already.

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Cobalt

@aaronsullivan

Probably you don't get that my shader was not made to recreate a poor video signal on a low quality TV... BUT to give the cleanest way to represent a NES (with pur RGB signal) on a real good TV/Monitor.

Because, let's make it clear, when you "offer" NES games to the players OF TODAY and TO PLAY those games ON A MODERN TV, the least that you can do, is to recreate a pur RGB signal on a perfect calibrated CRT screen.

The problem with the CRT filter from Nintendo is that it's ABSOLUTELY not what we got as a result on our CRT TVs back then neither.
My point is simple, Nintendo "believe" that CRT brings a BAD visuals quality with 240p signal when I "scream" to the world that CRTs are THE BEST for a 240p signal.

Two ways of thinking, two different results.

You know, my NES (the real one) output a pure 240 Full-RGB signal and the result on a real good quality CRT TV(with SCART connector) or on a good monitor like a PVM for example, the image is really close to the visual of my shader, really close.

Re: Scribblenauts Mega Pack - Two Amazing Games That Are Worth Revisiting On Switch

Cobalt

@BezBot said :" Mainline Pokemon and Animal Crossing are some of the best-selling (if not the best) selling games on the 3DS and both are coming next year. Add more titles like Luigi's Mansion 3 Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Daemon X Machina, NSMBU, Travis Strikes Again, and 3rd party games like Shovel Knight King of Cards, Team Sonic Racing, and Trials Rising. If you can't find anything you like you there are in the very small minority. Plus Metroid Prime 4 could come next year as well."

Pokemon I'm waiting to see what it is...
Animal Crossing I don't like
Luigi's Mansion 3 I need to see more because it's kind of 3DSish...
Yoshi I can't wait to play it !!!
Fire Emblem They really have to work a lot because it was poor...
Daemon X Machina I don't like the ugly artstyle
NSMBU I played it 100% on Wii U
Travis Strikes Again WHAT A JOKE !
Shovel Knight King of Cards PC for me
Team Sonic Racing Don't feel good compare to Sonic ASRT
Trials Rising Not interested at all
Metroid Prime 4 I'm waiting to see something because BAMCO is not RETRO (sadly)

So yeah, Yoshi for me without any doubt. The other titles hummm for the moment it's no !

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th September (Europe)

Cobalt

@AcesHigh

Knowing how bad Crapcom treats the Switch, let me guess... hummm... downloadable games one by one for an higher individual price or a "special price" for a bunch of games...

But when you see how lazy the bundle is, sorry but it's a shame to sell roms that price... :/

Re: Last Year's N64 Trademark Has Finally Been Approved, N64 Mini On The Way?

Cobalt

Because SONY just announced the Mini PlayStation right after the launch of the Online Service for the Switch, with 20 games (what a coincidence ^^), Nintendo has to counter that.
The N64 mini will be an answer for that BUT they need to come with awesome games :

Mario 64
Wave Race 64
Goldeneyes
Conkers
Banjo
Donkey 64
FZERO X
MarioKart 64
Paper Mario
Starfox 64
Majora's
Ocarina
Perfect Dark
etc...

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Cobalt

@Ristar24 It's easy to understand...(sadly) !

Just look how the majority of people here and somewhere else react when they get less than the minimum... THEY ARE HAPPY ! :/

So, why the hell Capcom and the others would do an effort ? It costs more money, more time to develop something good etc...
So BECAUSE of the gamers first, and BECAUSE of the laziness of big companies, yeah we get what we deserve... Sad but true...

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Cobalt

@thesilverbrick don't you get that there are a lot of people who played on CRT back then ? Do you get that if that option is there, is to give the feeling that you play on a CRT ? Do you get that it's not professional at all to bring something that horrible ? etc...

And like I said, the worst is that the emulator CROPS 24 pixels in height, just because they decided to scale the NES game by time 5, which is totally stupid. (240 lines X 5 = 1200 lines... 1200 lines on a 1080 lines TV Screen, yayyyy smarttttt !)

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Cobalt

@thesilverbrick

You probably don't get the problem and judging people the way you do IS trolling !

Now, the CRT filter is absolutely disgusting, it's a fact !
But the biggest complaint is the scaling by 5 of the NES games.
There is 24 pixels in height missing... That pretty amateur.

How it looks on the Switch :
Untitled

How it looks with my own shader :
Untitled

And don't forget to look at the curtain on the top of the images, you clearly see the missing pixels on the Switch.

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Cobalt

@bitleman said :"Well it's been developed by the NERD studio located in Paris. And I agree with you, nothing good come from France."

I know that its NERD but if I follow you're way of thinking, yeah McDonalds makes disgusting greacy food, so nothing's good from the US... :/
What a smart way of thinking... ^^

@NintendoPete, sure you don't find anything on the net, I discovered that yesterday. And no it's not the TVs, it's the emulator.

@Ristar24, yeah that's pretty poor like you said... :/
Like the CRT filter is disgusting too, how you can launch something that bad ? I don't get it.

Re: SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Adds Street Smart And Prehistoric Isle

Cobalt

@TurboTEF
I dunno if know that anecdote but Street Smart was a kind of prequel to Fatal Fury !
If you listen the Street Smart's music of the first stage, you'll be surprised to hear that it's the two-player battle theme of Fatal Fury !

PS : I never played the MegaDrive version, only the arcade, so dunno if the theme remains the same on console but yeah with the arcade, no doubt about that.

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

Cobalt

@Alantor28 Man, I'm not upset about the Online Service at all.
I just point some stuffs that I don't like and that's all...

Now, about you, I want to tell you that I respect you a lot for what you just wrote (I quote "I hope you two forgive me for attacking and insulting you two").
You can be sure that's already forgotten so I don't even have to forgive you... ^^

Peace my friend !

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

Cobalt

What the hell Nintendo did with the CRT filter for the NES Games ?
My goodness, it's absolutly horrible ! What a shame !
And it's not done yet because I dunno who had the idea to upscale the games by 5 but he is a morron, I'm sorry but a NES game is 256 x 240 native...
Now, 240 x 5 = 1200 ! On a 1080p screen ? Nintendoooo, are you kidding us ?

This is how it looks with the "Nintendo Shader" (check the image fullscreen)
Untitled

Now, this is how it looks with the shader that I'm using in my game (again, check in fullscreen)
Untitled

You clearly see the difference and the image of the NES games are cropped on the Switch, 24 pixels in height are missing... :/ Good job guys...

Re: Guide: Everything Announced In Yesterday's Nintendo Direct

Cobalt

@ClassSonicSatAm Totally disagree with you.

The Switch is a retro gaming console basically. A retro gaming console with here and there, an exclusive Switch title and the funny thing is when you get an exclusive, you get still a retro gaming stuff here and there, the 8bit Mario in Super Mario Odyssey, the artstyle of Octopath Traveler are examples that pops up just like that.

Even to promote the NEW Online Service, what Nintendo does ? NES Games and even NES Controllers... ^^

Another thing, why the indies are so popular on Switch and sell so good, dunno MAYBEEE because a majority of them looks like retro games, isn't it ?

The Switch is fantastic for somebody who has a small gaming culture because by essence, almost all the games are "new".

An old dude like me, hummm what I see ?

Re: Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle - Nirvana For Side-Scrolling Fighter Fans

Cobalt

@Moroboshi876

You're welcome dude !

Whose the fault ? Humm, I'd say two stuffs on that :

  • The fault comes first from Capcom because they had two solutions to "almost" solve the problem.
    First, to forget the total fullscreen, so if 384 x 224 is the original resolution, the best option was to upscale by 4.5 which gives 1728 X 1008.
    I made an image to show you how it looks like ^^
    Untitled

The second solution (less good if you want my advice), was to use an upscale X5, like that the width of the screen will be full because 384 x 5 = 1920 ! ^^ The only problem will be the height : 224 x 5 = more than 1080. Except a crop, I don't see how they could succeed otherwise...

The fault comes by the evolution of the technology too.
We were with 4:3 ratio, now it's 16:9, 16:10 and even some other exotic ones. It means that basically, if you wanna play 100% great, 100% like a game was thought from the start, you have to play the game in the original form with the original devices.

Now, about USFII, I suppose that you talk about the "port" of the SFII HD Remix... If it's the case, it's something else.
There is no upscale here, the native resolution is HD, so that's why you "see more pixels"... ( PS : I hate the HD version BTW ^^ )

Re: Cities: Skylines - A SimCity Successor That Struggles To Shine On Switch

Cobalt

@PorllM It's you point of view but it's not what I personaly think.

Which means : Performance side, things were not on the bright side yet. On a part of a large city detailing, the framerate struggled to be constant and clipping was omnipresent, making navigation rather uncomfortable.

You see, everywhere is the same thing, Gamekult, JeuxVideo.com, Nintendo Life...

Re: Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle - Nirvana For Side-Scrolling Fighter Fans

Cobalt

@Moroboshi876

Better to say, because the aspect ratio is bad then the image quality is gonna turns bad.

If you understand that simple stuff, you're gonna understand everything, look :

An upscaling is basically an increasing ratio.
If your ratio is like X4, everything's perfect, you take 1 pixel from the original image and you get an upscaled pixel made of 4 pixels height and 4 pixels width.

Now, if the ratio is X4.541 for example, you're skrewed because you cannot create an upscaled pixel with 4.541 pixels.
A pixel is the smallest unity, so 4.541 pixels that doesn't exist, 4 pixels or 5 pixels yes, but not 4.541 pixels !
